2 stars--Santa Baby by Alesia Holliday

Sometimes you just have to say "Deck the freaking halls." At least, that's how Leah feels about Christmas. She has a holiday tradition: she gets dumped at Christmas. Always and only at Christmas. With only 12 days till the fateful day, she's glad she's alone. The only thing she has to worry about is a horrible boss. And a dead-end career. And clients who drive her insane.

But sexy photojournalist Luke has other ideas; he wants to make Leah's Christmas dreams come true. And he only has twelve days to begin a romance that will endure until the last bell has been jingled.

Love, laughter, and a little touch of revenge--that's all a girl really needs in her Christmas stocking.
Alesia Holliday is the funnier (and much cuter!) alter-ego of New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Day. Alesia writes light & funny; Alyssa writes dark & twisty. Both love crazy plots, intense suspense, and characters you'd love to invite over for dinner.

Type: Chick-Lit
Rating: 2 out of 5

I've enjoyed Alesia Holliday writing as Alyssa Day. Her Warriors of Poseidon series is pretty entertaining. Santa Baby, though, missed the mark for me. It wasn't terrible but it just didn't seem finished or developed all the way. The two main characters were likable enough. Leah works for a publisher in New York and Luke is a traveling photo journalist she meets on the street one day without realizing he's her best friend's brother who is in town for the holidays.

I liked how they met with him taking her photo while she was out window shopping. He was a good guy and I did like them together. Really that's about where it ended, though. The rest of the characters were unlikable and abrasive. It all was too stereotypical New York complete with a bitchy boss who sabotaged her at every turn. The secondary characters were wishy washy as well which got to me. They'd be friendly with Leah thinking she was doing a great job then one event would happen (caused by her boss) and everyone would bail on her thinking she was terrible at her job and incapable of doing anything right only to be right back on her side as soon as she fixed the screw up. It was all too fake for me and tied up too neatly at the end. I won't be picking up another one by her any time soon.

  1. I haven't read either of these- but I do enjoy some chic lit from time to time. I added Manhut to my list- for a quick read! Thanks for sharing!
