Seduced by Blood (Sweet Blood #4) by Laurie London

Hot-blooded and hard-edged, Tristan Santiago has an uncanny ability to see beneath the surface—a skill that serves him well as the Guardians' region commander. But when a deadly plot against his fellow vampires is uncovered, he must turn to the one woman he can't read: the beautiful yet mysterious Roxanne Reynolds, whose sensual presence soothes his tormented memories.

Roxy had put love before duty once before, with devastating results. But to root out a dangerous traitor in their midst, she must put her faith in Santiago, the one man skilled enough to break through her defenses. Posing as lovers, Santiago and Roxy work side by side—and discover a powerful craving that threatens to consume them both….

Best read in order?: Yes! I spent a lot of time playing catch up.

::shiver:: There's absolutely nothing like that first taste of a new world and the moment when you realize you've found something special. Where you feel just a little giddy and excited over finding a new group of characters you know you'll fall in love with and that will steal a little bit of your heart. Seduced by Blood was one of those lovely moments for me. This was my first time reading Laurie London and it most definitely will not be the last.

I really enjoy the premise of "fake mates" in romances so I loved that Santiago and Roxy were set up to play the part of a madly in love couple in order to hunt down a traitor in their ranks. London did a fantastic job with them and I seriously ate it all up. The relationship was so fun to be a part of. With snark, lots of attitude & smoldering heat, hilariously awkward moments and of course some wonderfully sweet ones as love sneaks up on the two. The chemistry just radiates off the page and OMG things get really freaking hot between them. They'll definitely leave you squirming ;)
Despite being angry with her, he loved how she walked away from him, the little spring in her step, the slight sway in her hips. He was pretty sure she knew he was watching.
Well, two could play at this game. "Engaged, married. Guess we'd better get on with things then."
"Excuse me?" she said, turning.
He proceeded to strip off his T-shirt, tossing it onto a nearby chair. Then he kicked off his boots and started unbuttoning his pants.
"Now hold on there." Her eyes widened and suddenly that bravado of hers was gone. She was staring at his hands on his zipper. He rather liked it and he could feel himself growing harder under her scrutiny. "What are you talking about?"
"A newly married couple would be having a lot of sex, so why don't you slip into some sexy lingerie and meet me under the covers in, oh, say, twenty minutes?" He stepped out of his jeans, aware that his black boxer briefs did little to hide things.
She froze for a moment and two bright spots of color appeared on her cheeks. But then she seemed to catch herself and reloaded her indignation.
"Screw you."
He grinned. "Exactly what I had in mind."
Alright, so, Roxy and Santiago? I. LOVED. them! Santiago is one damn sexy vamp who's a little damaged and hiding a dark secret. He's cocky, in command and used to everyone jumping at his orders. Until Roxy. Who is a pretty amazing heroine that thinks quick on her feet, can hold her own, and has no problems taking control when needed. These two were so perfect for each other and are one of those couples that just make me smile. I loved all of their moments together. Fighting, making up, pushing each other's buttons. It was all fabulous.

I enjoyed the hunt for the villain and the danger involved almost as much as the romance between Santiago and Roxy. It's all nicely written and very entertaining. The ending got a little sappy but really in the best possible way. There were lots of blissed out "aws" and sighs on my part. I really wasn't ready for Seduced by Blood to end but am damn excited I get to go back and read the reset of the series now and find out about all the other characters. This is definitely a series I'd recommend to other PNR lovers out there.
