Rogue Rider (Lords of Deliverance #4) by Larissa Ione + giveaway

Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues - and falls for - a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous . . .

Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

That was just... I mean...daaaamn, that was good! I absolutely love the worlds Ione creates and how easily I'm sucked right into them. They're completely captivating with delectable characters, emotional turmoil that will have you in knots and excellent twists and turns that'll have your jaw dropping. And Rogue Rider was pretty much all of that with a bit of sexiness, danger and a touch of humor mixed in. Everything that makes for a blasted good read in my opinion.

Will her hard knocks past continue to haunt her, or will Aiden break through her tough exterior and show her that forever can be a good thing?

I love when I'm able to just fall into a world and in love with it's characters with ease. Especially when it's a new to me author like Sarah Bella. I really enjoyed Delilah's Passion. It's a fun, sweet read about a girl starting over and going back home after fleeing years earlier. There's humor and awkward moments, one's that'll make you sigh they're so perfect and others... that'll make you want to medicate the ever living hell out of some of the characters. It definitely kept me entertained :)

Razing Kayne (Walking a Thin Blue Line #1) by Julieanne Reeves + Giveaway

For two years, State Trooper Kayne Dobrescu has wanted only one thing: to understand why his wife inexplicably killed their children and then herself. Memories haunt his days and lay siege to his nights, leaving him questioning his reasons for living.

Jessica Hallstatt became a widow and single mother the night her firefighter husband died in a fiery explosion at an accident scene. While her husband may have died a hero, he left Jessica with deep emotional scars that haven't begun to heal.

When Kayne accepted a transfer to the mountain town of Payson, Arizona, he never expected to meet anyone like Jessica. From the moment he pulled her over for speeding, he was drawn in by her whiskey colored eyes and sassy dimple. But she and her children are a forever type package, and he's vowed never to give anyone the power to destroy him again. Yet fate has other ideas, throwing Kayne and Jessica together in a fight against an unknown enemy to save the life of a child—and hopefully one another.

Type: Romantic Suspense
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

One little bit of advice. Make sure you have a few free hours to spend reading before picking this one up because once you start it's nearly impossible to pull yourself away from Razing Kayne. With intriguing characters that will easily find a spot in your heart, mystery and suspense that'll have both your pulse and mind whirling and a beautiful second chance for two very deserving individuals this was one of those stories that had me quickly turning the pages and left me one very satisfied reader.

Good morning Julieanne! Congratulations on your debut novel Razing Kaye! It was a wonderful read and kept me turning pages WAY into the night. Could you tell our followers a little about the book and what inspired you?
Thank you! Razing Kayne is the story of a State Trooper and a firefighter’s widow who are thrown together by fate to protect a child. Due to past experiences, neither wants a relationship, but it’s those experiences that bond and bind them together and give them the strength to persevere.
Inspiration: It really was a combination of things. Razing Kayne is a conglomeration of ripped-from-the-headlines stories and personal experiences. The very first scene I wrote for this story ended up being my prologue.
I wrote it after watching a news broadcast about a woman who’d killed her children and then herself. Of course the circumstances behind that real-life tragedy were nothing like what happens in Razing Kayne, but witnessing the devastation on that father’s face really struck a chord with me on a personal level. From there I pulled from my experiences as a former Police-Fire-911 Dispatcher and filled in the blanks.

A ‘New’ Take on an ‘Old’ World

The various interpretations of angels in fiction have been extremely fun to read. In fact, I was one of the readers most excited when the ‘winged ones’ came along and gave the ‘fanged ones’ a run for their money. Although I’m a fan of the ‘fallen’ in the YA world, I always wanted my angels to be different - something new and special that hadn’t been seen before. When I get to speak about them on sites and to fans, I’m filled with everything from honor to excitement from all the amazing bloggers and readers who accepted the angel/warrior team into their lives.

To Challenge the Earl of Cravenswood (Wicked Wagers #3) by Bronwen Evans

Henry St. Giles, the Earl of Cravenswood, longs to find his soul mate. Now that his two best friends, both reformed rakes, are happily married, the need becomes an obsession. When they challenge him to find a wife by the end of the season or marry his neighbor, the innocently alluring Lady Amy Shipton, he can’t believe his luck. He wins, either way.  But in a darkened garden, a case of mistaken identity, a drunken kiss, and a dropped emerald earring, leads Henry on a Cinderella hunt. He knows the woman he held in his arms could be the one he's searched for all his life. He just has to find her.

Lady Amy Shipton is determined to marry for love instead of sharing her husband like her mother did. So why did she let her handsome neighbor and romantic fantasy, known as the Sinful Saint for his bedroom prowess, seduce her in his garden? And what can she do when in the middle of their passionate encounter; he whispers another woman's name. Now Henry is hunting the owner of the earring Amy left behind, and she's determined to retrieve it before her identity is revealed. She's not about to give her father the ammunition he desperately wants in order to force her down the aisle.

Type: Historical Romance, London
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

To Challenge the Earl of Cravenswood was a pretty delightful little read that brought together so many of my favorite storyline devices. Reformed rakes, meddling friends determined to see their friends together and a case of unrequited love finally coming to light and all with a fairy tale twist.

Guest Post w/ Bronwen Evans + giveaway!

Hey everyone! Please help us welcome Bronwen Evans to herding cats & burning soup!

Heroes and Heroines--they are different!

To live happily ever after...

A Practical Arrangement by Nadja Notariani + giveaway

Miss Evangeline Grey, intelligent and sensible, has no desire to marry, her reluctance born from the dire warnings of her overly emotional mother. Her father has other ideas, however, and decrees that unless she weds by the spring, he will choose a husband for her.

Prim and proper Evangeline accepts her father's issue with little more than mild alarm. Knowing herself plain of face and sharp of tongue, she believes herself capable of warding off any perspective suitor. Her plan goes awry when the scandalous seducer, Mr. Thomas Masterson, visits her family's home, for Thomas has learned that he must procure a wife to receive his full inheritance.

When he discovers Evangeline's predicament matches his own, Thomas determines to orchestrate a practical arrangement. A war of wit and word results, and Thomas finds himself ever more beguiled by the soft heart he discovers under Miss Grey's stern, inhibited exterior. Patiently, he endeavors to gain her respect and awaken her passions. As tenuous trust blooms between the rake and the reluctant, unfortunate events – and Thomas' past reputation – threaten to destroy the peace and happiness he has found within the bonds of his Practical Arrangement.

Type: Historical Romance
Indie Published, ebook, 195 pages
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Oh I liked this one. I love meddling families and the whole "forced" to marry storyline and Notariani really did a great job with it in A Practical Arrangement. And I gotta say, I loved that the scheme hit them both equally with each family laying down ultimatums instead of it all being one sided. Add in wonderful characters and a romance that completely gripped my heart and it made for one very content little reader.

Under Her Skin Anthology

Three authors I love all in one place is a pretty damn good thing. And I really enjoyed each of the stories but man are they really short. Especially Frost's. The page counts don't quite mesh up with real live book pages in my opinion. Total it took about 1 1/2 hours to read the whole thing. It's a great read if  you have a fondness for shifters with a touch of magic and are you're looking for something really quick to fill a little time.

The cover kicks ass too! I'm loving the eerie haunted feel!

* These all previously appeared in the The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance anthology *
