Interview w/ Lisa Renee Jones-- she's totally obsessed with...

We've got Lisa Renee Jones chatting with us today! Woot! I love this series. Our review of Being Me is here if you want to check it out...
Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals she’s discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened.

In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Her boss, Mark Compton, offers her the shelter to understand just what those needs mean to her, and what they might have meant to Rebecca, but can she trust him to lead her to a final conclusion to Rebecca’s story?

Well good morning Lisa! Come on in and lets chat while I pop these cookies in the oven for a few minutes.

I've gotta say I am just smitten with your Inside Out series but I have a couple friends that haven't read it yet. What would you tell them about the series that would have them rushing to the stores to grab it?
I love that you are smitten! The series is in development for a cable television show so perhaps that will entice them? However, I think the realness of the series is what speaks to people, or that is my goal as an author. It's dark and passionate, and it does not hide from the part of life that is not always rosy. It does, however, take you on that emotional journey and show how
love and passion can make that journey one that we can survive and thrive within. You won't get fluff with this series. You will get mystery and you will get an emotional roller coaster ride. Add to that a couple hot alpha men and you have the Inside Out series.
Damn yeah there are some seriously sexy men in this one... and a fantastic heroine. If you had 24 hours and could spend it with any of them doing anything who would you pick and what would yall do?
This is tough because I know many things about Mark readers won't begin to learn until Master Undone August 12th which is in his POV and takes place the day after BEING ME ends.
However, a day with Chris, who is a famous artist, being painted and then having some wicked loving afterwards sound pretty darn inviting.
I just love Mark so would have a hard time picking but that sounds like an excellent day with Chris :D So, tell me some fun behidn the scenes things about the series...
  • It was inspired by a journal my finance found in storage unit when we were buying and selling units.
  • I'd been plotting it for years and gotten to know the characters long before I started writing it
  • Many of the sex scenes pushed my limits and took days to write.
  • There will be a book 4 and 5 that focus mainly on Mark. 5 is completely in his POV and I've had it plotted forever. More mystery. More surprises. There is also a spinoff series that you will know about by the end of REVEALING US.
Ahh *clears throat* I totally didn't just squeal. Promise. But woot! So excited to hear about Mark's books! I noticed you've done quite a bit of writing and all sorts of romances. Werewolves, Vampires, dark and light contemporaries. I know it's like asking to pick a favorite kid but do you have a type that just pulls you in again and again?
Sexy suspense. That is a common element in 90% of my stories.I like darkly erotic and suspenseful and while they can be the hardest to write simply because they are emotional and intense, they are the most rewarding. I also really love first person. I got into other genres as the publishing world pulled me there but this is the genre my first book was in and the genre I want to live inside.
Oh yeah. Sexy suspense definitely sounds right. Aaaannnd since we're herding cats & burning soup we'd love to know a little about your herd! Do they help you write? Do they rule the roost?
My kids are grown though we have an oriental shorthair that has become our kid:) She's a sweetie and spoiled rotten. She has DH wrapped around her paws. DH and I have been together 10 years and getting married finally September 14th in San Francisco, where we first confessed our love and where the Inside Out series is based, and the TV show will be as well.
Aw congrats Lisa! That's so exciting! And your little bit sounds darlin'. I'm sure she'd like her mama's attention--if she's anything like the herd here so how about a couple silly ones then we'll let you go dote on her :)

Favorite book cover color?
That really depends on the series and the feel of the book but I have a new cover for REVEALING US I'm about to reveal and it is dark and mysterious and I LOVE it.
Wind chimes or gazing balls?
Wind Chimes. I love the wind and storms and rain.
I'm completely obsessed with?
Sons of Anarchy and Chris and Sara.
Something you'd totally do if you could get away with it?
Not ever go to the gym again but alas, I go six days a week. *ooo that sounds good!*
Best food ever?
Mac N Cheese. I judge all restaurants by it being on the menu. *as you should*
Favorite office supply?
My MacBook Air. I take it to the bathtub with me even!
Favorite man candy? Photos are welcome!
Chris Hemsworth and Chris! Though Parker Hurley is nice eye candy too!
And I am releasing a new series, The Secret Life of Amy Bensen and using David Gandy as my inspiration. That man is just so hot!
Oh man, we are definitely Gandy fans here. That is one yummy man. He can totally rock a scowl. Thanks for coming by Lisa! It was great chatting and I can't wait to see what happens next with the series!

Since beginning her publishing career in 2007, Lisa has published more than 30 books with publishers such as Simon and Schuster, Avon, Kensington, Harlequin, NAL, Berkley and Elloras Cave, as well as crafting a successful indie career. Booklist says that Jones suspense truly sizzles with an energy similar to FBI tales with a paranormal twist by Julie Garwood or Suzanne Brockmann.

Prior to publishing, Lisa owned multi-state staffing agency that was recognized many times by The Austin Business Journal and also praised by Dallas Women Magazine. In 1998 LRJ was listed as the #7 growing women owned business in Entrepreneur Magazine.
