A Dark Taste of Rapture (Renegade Angels #0.5) by Sylvia Day

Of all the Fallen, Raze’s hungers are some of the darkest and most insatiable. His brazen seductions cost him his wings, leaving him soulless and immortal, the most dangerous of seducers. He has roamed the earth for eons, hunting the rogues of his kind and protecting the humans who provide him with blood and sex. He is content with his life and the transient pleasures that flow through it... until one night and one woman change everything.

Kimberly McAdams is smart, beautiful, and wealthy. She can have any man she wants, but the moment she sets eyes on the lethally stunning Raze she knows he’s the man she needs. As one searingly erotic night burns into something deeper and far more vital than either of them expected, an adversary from Raze’s past sees a chance for revenge. Twisted by hatred, she will take from Raze what was taken from her—the precious gift of love.

Type: Paranormal Romance (Vampires/Angels), Novella
Heat: 2.5? A lot of sex but most of it's fade to black variety
Rating: 4 out of 5

Ooo this one was so good! I loved the set up of fallen angels being cursed with vampirism and having to hunt down the unruly rogues in their mists. It was a nice little twist on angels I don't think I've read...exactly. Plus some great characters and a nice bit of animosity with their Angel counterparts too which was interesting. All things I can definitely get behind.

Friday Finds! Free & One Sale book!

Seriously, how the heck is it Friday already? LOL Okay got a couple goodies for yall. I'll be adding to the list the next day so feel free to check back in on it :) Hope you're all doing great and those of yall that have been under the weather are feeling much better!

Juliet Bell has a hit man, the FBI, a long-lost sister, and a handful of handsome Highlanders hunting her through time. But she's not going back until she gets what's hers. And her hunters won't go back either--not without Juliet.

Quinn's timing stinks. He's about to die a martyr, which would have been fine with him a year before, but 15th century Scotland has revived his survival instincts and he's decided he wants to live after all. His only hope? Making one of his foes believe Quinn can control the future.

Juliet and Quinn are thrown together, whether by the hands of Fate or a pair of clever witches, and they find love lends a much nobler purpose to their impossible quests. But they'll have to maneuver around a centuries-old curse and a villain with a higher purpose of his own--or everything they want will be out of their hands forever.

A Little Bit Wicked (Forbidden Love #1) by Robyn DeHart

Marcus Kincaid has returned to England after a ten-year absence. His older brother died during that time, making Marcus the Earl of Ashford. Not only that, his younger sister is embroiled in a potential scandal that could ruin her chance at marriage. His aunt has already called in reinforcements—The Paragon.

Vivian March is known simply as The Paragon. She moves through every circle within Society, smoothing out scandals and stopping gossip in its tracks. Everyone in London knows that if she aligns herself with you, Society will forgive you your sins. What they don’t know is that she uses their secrets to cover her own jaded past.

But with every kiss and every touch that Marcus thrusts upon her, Vivian comes to believe life is infinitely more fun when you can be just a little bit wicked…

Type: Historical Romance
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5
"You are a wicked man, Marcus," she murmured.
"Indeed. Won't you be a little wicked with me?"
Oh, hell yeah! You are SOOO gonna want to be just a little bit wicked with Marcus. This was my first time reading DeHart and you know, I really enjoyed this one. From the cover, which is gorgeous, to the set up for their relationship, the frustrations along the way and all the yummy, delicious kissing. It was just a wonderful read that really delighted the romance lover in me.

I’m honored to be a guest on the blog today, but like all blog posts, I had to decide what my topic would be? This one was a no-brainer. The title of the blog made me think about the roles our pets play in our lives and what great characters they are in our books.

Caleb (Circle 8 #3) by Emma Lang+ giveaway

"SPREADING THE CALEB LOVE THE ENTIRE MONTH OF FEBRUARY"

A Texas Ranger, a lady blacksmith, a fierce passion, a dangerous game.

Caleb Graham has spent the last four years in too many dangerous situations to count. As a Texas Ranger, he knows no fear, or at least he never shows it. When he’s sent to force a blacksmith off government seized property, he runs face to face into the woman who will change his life.

Aurora Foster grew up on the very land the obnoxious Ranger is trying to throw her off of. Her parents and her husband died for it and there is no chance she would leave without a fight. A lady blacksmith might be an anomaly but she has the strength of the steel she forges and the courage to fight for what she believes is right.

When Aurora is inadvertently injured by Caleb, he seeks medical help from a neighboring ranch. The sprawling hacienda is full of the finer things in life and the one person Caleb never expected to see again… his youngest brother Benjamin. Forced to flee from a man who has kept the boy captive, the trio become traveling companions in a deadly game where no one wins.

Life turns upside down and sideways for Caleb and Aurora, caught in a game neither of them expected while they desperately try to save the boy who was lost to his family. Pursued and hunted, the three of them ride for the Circle Eight ranch. The unlikely pair of rescuers fight their attraction and for their lives.

So, the Graham family? LOVE. Them. Lang does an amazing job of creating characters and a family you really just can't resist. They're one of the few fictional families that as soon as I've finished the book I'm reading I'm craving the next one because I just want to keep myself surrounded by them.

This family has been dragged through hell and back after the murder of their parents and the kidnapping of their youngest sibling years earlier but has found the strength and courage to rebuild and beat back anything and everything that's thrown in their path. The men are honorable and drool-worthy and the women so incredibly unique and feisty. Watching them all find their matches and falling in love is really such a treat. The added bits of humor and heart stopping action and adventure keep me coming back again and again too.

Now this was a pretty awesome read and a lovely introduction into a new world that's just a little different from any I've ever read. Brux has a fabulous voice that pulled me in completely and had me so engaged in the story. Had me loving the characters and doing some full on pouting when real life got in the way of my reading and I had to put down my Nook for even a second. And oh baby she's got some yummeh covers on this series!

A love that breaks all the rules…

Since her first day at work, Beth Graison has been in love with Dean Sutherland—the “Son” in Sutherland & Son. Although he’s an unrepentant player, there’s an unmistakable connection between them, and she knows he feels it too. But she’s not about to risk her career for any man, especially one with an office right down the hall whom she works with every day.

Dean Sutherland doesn’t do love, but he does do women. And he hasn’t felt more than sexual attraction for any woman until Beth. Entirely feminine, smart, and with a natural beauty beyond compare, she makes him think about all kinds of uncomfortable things—like a future and happiness—things he knows from experience are pure fiction.

When his father, the “Sutherland” in Sutherland & Son, propositions Beth to be more than just an employee, Dean can’t keep her at arm’s length any longer. But he doesn’t expect the scorching kiss they share, or the idea that forms when he holds her in his arms. Can he stop his father’s manipulating game by making the first move on Beth? Or will his reputation as a womanizer make him just one more Sutherland she wants to ignore?

I need *your* help!! Really! I do!

Alright, so, why do I need your help?

Well, the blog turned a year old in January and I'm wanting to do some tweaking here and there to make things more user friendly and I'd like your input first.

What works for you, what doesn't, what would you like more (or less) of, is there something about the blog you love? Or that makes you grind your teeth?

Authors if you're following I'd love to hear from yall too.

So here are the questions. And feel free to add other ideas/suggestions too, these are just the ones off the top of my head. And you don't have to answer all the questions ;)

1. Giveaways:

  • Like em? Love em? Hate em? Wish there were more or less?
  • Do you prefer print or ebooks?
  • Does having books signed make a difference? It takes some work getting signed ones but if yall aren't into that I'll skip it.
  • What about entries? Is Rafflecopter working for you? Or do you prefer leaving just a comment & email?
  • If you're a regular follower and commenter (not just a giveaway commenter) do you enter the giveaways?

I think it's safe to say that Margaret Mallory has a new fan and a completely hooked one at that. The Chieftain was filled with stellar characters, surprise connections, terrible betrayals and all of the emotional turmoil they bring and just a lovely romance to top it all off. Like I said. I was hooked. Even if I wanted to strangle a Highland warrior now and again.

Seduction of a Highland Warrior was indeed seductive. I haven't read too many historical romances set in the 1300s  and Welfonder has me convinced I need to change that and change that quickly. Starting with the rest of her backlist <g> From amazingly strong and sexy characters to a rich, magic laced storyline and even a new favorite swear it was a fantastic read all around and has me eager to explore more of the world Welfonder created.
Favorite swear? "Come here, you flat-footed he-goat!"

Interview w/ Marquita Valentine!

Woot! Yall I'm so glad to be home from vacation! Had a great time but man it's nice to have my own bed and see the herd. And even more exciting? We have Miss Marquita Valentine joining us on the blog again for a great little interview. So check out our chat and leave her some love. She's an awesome one!

Welcome back to herding cats & burning soup Marquita! Always nice to see you :)

We've got a few questions for ya if you don't mind.

I've been reading on your Holland Springs' series this year and am just loving it. What got you started writing the series?
Oh thank you! Actually Glee, weird, right? An actor hero was right up my alley. So…Christian Romanov was born.
As for the Holland Springs Series, I knew I wanted to write contemporary, but wasn’t if I wanted it to be a small town series, or single title standalone novels.  I think I managed to do both. You don’t have to read them in order, but you can. J
Oh how neat! Never would have guessed Glee :) Alright so, if you were trying to win someone over to the series with just a quick little teaser how would you "hook" them?

Mmmmm Vampires...Vampires for Valentines Hop! (open INT)

Vampires for Valentine's Giveaway Hop
And we have Vampires! Thanks to  Felicity HeatonCaris Roane and H. D. Thomson! for hosting the hop! We do love our vamps here at herding cats & burning soup!

Alright chikadees I was out of town for a book con until late last night for UF and PNR authors and have a ton of goodies to give away. I'm going to have to sort through and see which is all vampy goodness but for starters...

I'm thinking Vampire goodies from CJ Ellisson and Laura Kaye. It's all SIGNED! And an ebook of your choice from each of the ladies Vamp series. Sound good?

I'll add other goodies in as the hop goes and I think of it. There were some awesome vamp authors there like Laurie London. I just need to unpack my swag and see who all is in there. Someone may be a little behind from their trip and forgot about throwing this together soon enough. Eep. Couldn't possibly be this cat herder ;)

The slightest misstep could mean the loss of their souls and give the Demon King exactly what he needs to open the Abyss of Souls and annihilate the Bringers.

She was a colossal tyrant stuffed inside the tiny body of a woman.
If you're like me and love finding new worlds that are unique, a little quirky and just good for your book loving soul then Boone Brux is an author you need to meet. She weaves together such a rich and exciting story it's like stepping right into the world and being there.

There's some drama in Kiss of the Betrayer. You know it's going to be one hell of a ride with the heroine's mission in life is to take the hero out. And yall I'm not talking about the dinner and a movie variety but the swimming with the fishies kinda deal. I mean, hello, that's one damn serious mountain they've got to get themselves over! But damn they do so in the most amazing way.
