A to Z: Deserted. Decayed. Dilapidated. Dissaray. Desolate. Derelict. And Discarded.

Herding Cats vs The A to Z Challenge!
This is my third year joining in on blogging the Alphabet in April!

2014 Theme: "Gasp, Sigh, Gigglesnort w/ a side of Yum"

D: Deserted. Decayed. Dilapidated. Dissaray. Desolate. Derelict. And Discarded. (Gasp)

I have a fascination with deserted locations.

Homes. Schools. Churches.
Swimming pools and bowling alleys.
Amusement parks and castles.
Ancient estates and public transportation.

I've done a little urban exploring--basically exploring abandoned buildings, taking photos, leaving things exactly how they are--and really enjoyed it. My favorite so far was in South Bend, Indiana exploring one of the old factories used to build airplanes I believe. Maybe cars. Though we found airplane insignia.

The wooden floors were warped, desks abandoned and doors left open.
New Years Eve hats and party favors laying on tables.

It was so interesting seeing how things were just...left. Doors open and the railway system they had in place for moving parts from one location to another.

I find it all haunting and beautiful. Depressing yet hopeful seeing mother nature claim areas and giving them life in their death.

I always want to know the story. How could such beautiful places be lost to the world.
Discarded. Left to decay. And in such Dissaray.

I'd love to do more Urban Exploring and would love even more to claim some such place and give it life again. Maybe one day.

Do you have a favorite deserted locale?
Have you ever gone Urban Exploring?
