Interview w/ Jess Michaels--now that's sexy...

Liam, the Earl of Windbury, had everything when he held his secret lover in his arms. Until a feud between their families left her dead, his body broken, and his sister married to his bitterest enemy.

Wracked with guilt, simmering with rage, he’s spent a year in seclusion, seeing no one except a few servants as he does his best to forget the past and patently refuses to think about any kind of future.

When courtesan Violet Milford enters Liam’s lair, she’s on a secret mission to gather information for Liam’s desperate sister, who fears for his sanity, even his life. What she finds is a man scarred inside and out, whose dark, controlling sensuality hides the kind, wounded man within.

Violet awakens a sexual desire more powerful than Liam has ever known, and her stories weave a spell that begins to work its way past his defenses. But when the truth inevitably comes out, it could well destroy the love that is saving them both.

Warning: This book features a sexually experienced woman who will use every trick in her book to save a man from himself.

Morning Jess!I've got chocolate croissants and all sorts of pastries to snack on while we chat about Beauty and the Earl so come on in and get comfy. Congrats on it's release this morning by the way! It looks so flipping good!
Oh my god, the only croissants I can have are virtual ones, so I'll take them all. And thank you for having me, I'm excited to be here!
The virtual ones are probably the only ones I should be eating ::snort:: Alright so jumping right in... say you're in line at the grocery and have like 15 seconds to hook someone. What would you tell them about these two to really draw them in?
Violet is a courtesan hired to spy on Liam. And she'll use every trick in her book to find out what she needs. But she doesn't count on falling in love.
Ooo. That sounds...promising. LOL Can you tell us 3 behind the scenes fun facts about Beauty and the Earl
  • While writing Beauty and the Earl, I got really interested in the secondary characters of Malcolm and Olivia. I wrote a novella featuring them and it will come out June 24 called Beautiful Distraction.
  • Beauty and the Earl is the last book I wrote in 2013.
  • When writing a pivotal scene between Liam, Ava and Christian, I cried like Joan Wilder.
Aws. I'm so not a pretty crier. I'm gonna be a mess! lol Now, I'm a touch obsessed with erotic historicals at the moment. Was there one scene or quote that just perfectly captured that combo for you?
Well, it's pretty much erotic the front to back, so if that's your scene, this I the book for you. But the scene where Violet comes to the public bath where Liam is taking the waters and... um... introduces herself in a very specific way is pretty hot!
Works for me! So, what was your favorite 'omg he's just! *girly swoon*' thing about Liam? What about Violet?
Liam is a dark, broody guy who has experienced a really heartbreaking loss. He's physically and emotionally scarred, but also really hot and sexy.
The thing I love about Violet, is that she is willing to push him on his broodiness. I like putting that alpha male type against a strong heroine, though she's damaged in her own way.
Damn. They sound really good. I'm so ready for this one. How about some quickies first?

Favorite Man Candy? Pictures are welcome!
I'm a big fan of intelligent sexiness like Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban, that kind of guy. Yes, abs are hot, but I want something behind the eyes.

Favorite naughty accessory?
The brain. It is way hotter than any accessory since it can make up anything it wants.
What's at the top of your bucket list?
See the final stage of the Tour de France on the Champs Elysees in Paris. We'll be taking that trip next summer.
*oh how exciting!*Favorite office supply?
Post it notes and pens. I have a serious issue with both.
I'm totally obsessed with...?
Currently, Sherlock. I love that show and everything about it. Why do seasons have to only be three episodes long??
*whispers* I've never seen it. Eep! Alright, real quick before you head on out. What's up next for you?
I have a new series starting this July called The Ladies Book of Pleasures, which is about a very naughty book and three friends who find love because of it. The first book is A Matter of Sin and will be out July 8th.
Oh that sounds excellent. Can't wait! Thanks so much for coming by and hanging out with us today Jess! Congrats again on the release!
Thank you so much for having me!!
