Devil's Game (Reapers #3) by Joanna Wylde

"Devil's Game was exciting as hell. With just enough grit and darkness to balance out the sweet, sexy and light moments for a damn fine read." ~herding cats & burning soup
Liam "Hunter" Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil's Jack, he knows his duty. He'll defend his club from their oldest enemies-the Reapers-using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers' president has a daughter who's alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club's president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger-a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he's The One.

Or so she thinks.

Now that...was a fucking awesome read. Damn me! Devil's Game had me completely enthralled and totally smitten from page one. Sexy as sin hero, kick ass heroine, exciting storyline, some flipping scorchin' lovin' and excellent tension all around made for a pretty thrilling read as the princess of the Reaper's finds herself smack in the sights of a Devil's Jack and rather smitten with the enemy...even if she does what to knee him in the nads now and again.

Okay so the quick of it is that the Reaper's and the Devil's Jack's are rival MCs struggling to trust and deal with each other. And things are a bit tense with them. Especially when Em--who is the daughter of the Reaper's president--winds up in the hands of the Devil's Jack's, or more specifically, in the hands of Liam and is used as a bargaining chip against her daddy's club. Oh stupid stupid man Liam was doing such a thing. Little did he know Em is not one to take being told what to do lightly.

Em. Was a freaking awesome heroine. I loved this chick. Seriously. Total girl crush. She's young and takes risks now and again but this girl...can defend herself. She's got a mouth on her, can wield a gun like a pro, has some serious fire in her and refuses to just lay down and take it. The men in her life are giving her trouble...she's gonna let them know she is in no way pleased. And she's going to make them suffer. Gah I loved her and had such a good time spending a few hours with her.

And then there's Liam. Or rather Hunter which he's not in disguise and trying to get Em to trust him. This guy is hot. Like seriously hard core sexy. But he also has a tendency to be a dick and oh he can fuck up something fierce. And still...I was right there with Em not being able to resist the idiot. ::snort::
"You know damn well I'll lose face if they think I can't control my woman. It's not the same thing."

The instant I said it, I knew I'd fucked up. Again. Christ, I should just crawl into a cave and die, it'd be more efficient.

"You want to try saying that a different way?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips. "Only this time, listen to your words very carefully in your head first. Then ask yourself whether you ever want me touching your penis again."

"I'm a dick," I said, raising my hand to run it through my hair. This is not a secret. But I don't want to control you, Em. You know that. Fuck."
Bwaha I just loved Em and her mouth. I totally busted out over some of the things she said and how Hunter reacted to them. So blasted funny! These two had some amazing chemistry too and, whew, the sex scenes were excellent. Em is pretty sheltered seeing as none of the men around her were willing to try anything because of who her daddy was but I loved she could take everything Hunter dished out. Hard, rough, up against a wall. Maybe a little sweet and tender but mostly wild and intense. I also liked the bits where she was learning and things were a little more technical as she explored. Oddly...kinda hot. I was with Hunter on that.

I'm still fairly new to Wylde--and hadn't been entirely convinced with the previous book which was much tamer and mainstream--but definitely seeing the attraction now. Devil's Game was exciting as hell. With just enough grit and darkness to balance out the sweet, sexy and light moments for a damn fine read. And the tension as the two rival clubs fought to keep the peace and struggled to trust each other kept my pulse racing and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved that little bit of danger and excitement. So a pretty fantastic read and one that has me excited about seeing what will happen next with this group of bikers.
