Today's quote is from a new Rom-Suspense series out next week about a group of men and women who are part of a secret not quite government backed group that has some fishy things happening within it's rank. It was a good one--review is down below--and is out tomorrow. This quote is between the heroine and one of her team mates. And omg I seriously want his book. Like...now. He was such a fun addition and a little naughty plus he loves romance novels. How could I not love him already?! lol

Sandra plunked the sandwich down. "You watched us"--she swallowed at the rush of memories of making love to Grady--"together?"

"Whoa." Romeo held his hands up. "I'm not a voyeur...Okay, that's a lie. I am a voyeur, but only when it's consensual."

Heat: 3 out of 5--but limited  Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Well, Exchange of Fire was an entertaining jump into a new world of undercover operatives, danger, second chances and romance. I do love that combo! The quick of it is that Sanda fled her life as a sniper. Faking her death and hiding out and becoming a new person. But her previous life has caught up with her and is giving her hell. Threatening her life, her former teammates and the people she cares deeply for in her new life leaving her faced with the decision of who to trust and how to keep everyone safe.

I enjoyed all of the characters. Sandra, Grady and all of her former teammates. They're an interesting group for sure. And dealing with so much...namely...Sandra being alive and well when they thought she'd been killed months earlier in a mission. Hello, surprise! lol

Grady was such a good guy. He runs a family friendly gaming center and has made it his life mission--after losing a friend as a child--to protect those in need from bullies. He's wholesome and sexy and can rock some fierce alpha male protectiveness. Yum! And Sandra. This is one badass heroine. She may be a bit damaged and suffering from PTSD after a mission gone horribly bad but the woman is incredibly strong, has major skills and while she sometimes made me want to shake her--the chickie kept running--I enjoyed getting to know her.

The romance was somewhat light since the two had known each other and were pretty much already in love with each other when things kicked off though they'd never acted or expressed their feelings. Most of the book is action packed as they fight against operatives sent out to eliminate Sandra and her team so the romance took a secondary role which was fine. There's still some good lovin' happening, some sweet moments between them and some very difficult ones as they deal with the past and the fact that she'd hidden so much from him.

I enjoyed Exchange of Fire, found it entertaining and wanted to see what would happen to them all but I did think it has a little something missing. A spark or something that just kept me more on the periphery of the story instead of fully invested and feeling like I was part of everything. Not a bad thing exactly just a little something that I noticed and that kept me from getting totally swept into things. It was still a fun though and did leave me curious to see what will happen next with this group of men and woman and how each of their stories will unfold so not a bad start to the series.
