Linger (In Vino Veritas #3) by Lauren Jameson

On her last night in Nevada before embarking on a yearlong veterinary internship, Scarlett Malone is celebrating—and looking for one night of incredible pleasure. But the man who draws her eye is not her usual type: He’s a cowboy whose alpha-male tendencies tempt her beyond belief. Scarlett can’t understand why she wants this man and no one else, but she’s determined to entice him to submit.…

Dr. Logan Brody lives an isolated life in rural Montana, running a ranch and suppressing his submissive tendencies. Only on his occasional trips does he give into his hidden urges. He can’t deny his scorching attraction to Scarlett or that she makes him want more, but he never lets anyone break him down fully. He’s hers for one night and one night only.

But when Scarlett shows up at Logan’s door as his intern for the year, he realizes that the walls around his heart are about to crumble—and that this sexy dominant woman has no intention of letting him keep control.…

Oh Sweet Mary. *slaps hand over mouth* My non-blurb reading ways landed me a wicked surprise with Lauren Jameson's Linger...a bdsm-esk read where the heroine was a Domme and the hero a submissive. ::slow blink:: Hmmm...interesting and...so not my thing but damn Linger ended up being a fantastic read with a unique couple, sizzling hot love scenes that left me scorched and characters I just ached for and wanted so badly to figure out their relationship both professionally and personally. Gotta love that. *nods*

The quick of it is that Scarlett rocks a bit of kink and on her last night before leaving for a year long veterinary internship she heads out to her favorite kink club and stumbles on a male submissive that flips all her switches. And that she can't help but indulge in a bit of nekkid fun with. Shock of all horrors she arrives at her internship to find the man she'll be working for and living with for the next year... is the sub she gave a nice paddling to the night before. *flails* Oh the awkward definitely reigned supreme! lol

I really liked both characters. I wasn't sure going in if that would be the case but they were pretty rocking. Scarlett who was fairly new to BDSM and having her skills as a Domme put to the test while taking a step professionally towards her goals of opening her own veterinary clinic. And Logan who is an incredibly alpha male in his daily life but has an undeniable need to submit sexually and struggles with his desires and a trauma from his past. These two where strong, solid, sexy as all hell and each had a little bit of insecurity that really made them seem real and relateable. They were nicely developed, interesting and both grew an incredible amount throughout which I could definitely appreciate.

The heat...was definitely there. *fans self* Hot damn. Yeah the heat was there. Even though it's never been the particular dynamic I go for gotta say it was pretty hot seeing such an alpha male submit even if he didn't, erm, go down easily. Whew. Yeah. Logan had a hard time owning up to his desires and submitting which made for some stunning scenes and could definitely leave a girl panting. The chemistry was intense and the connection between them pretty powerful right from the start.

The emotional turmoil both Logan and Scarlett are hit with throughout the book was incredibly vivid and made me feel so much for them. It was such a journey for them both intimately and just with life in general and figuring out what they each needed and really wanted. My only complaint was that in the end the big reveal for Logan that kept him so damaged felt a little underwhelming. Traumatic for sure but I was expecting a bit more as a cause. *shrugs* Still seeing each of them change and grow as they worked together and played together was a wonderful experience.

Overall, Linger really won me over. The perfect combination of kinkery goodness, healing, romance and uniquely wonderful characters made for a fascinating read and one that kept me completely captivated and ready for more from Jameson. That's one seriously awesome writer win in my opinion
