Hi, I’m Shelley Munro, and I’m thrilled to join Anna today for Quote-tastics. I have two quotes for you today from my latest release Part-Time Lovers. This book is the first in my new series, Clare Chronicles and is a spin-off from my Love and Friendship series. The action takes place in my home country of New Zealand.

Readers first met Nolan, the hero of Part-Time Lovers in Farmer Wants a Wife when he takes part in a reality show to find a wife. Things don’t go quite as planned for Nolan—no, that’s not true—he thinks he has a plan, but what he doesn’t realize is that he should have communicated his BIG PLAN to Yvonne.

She is rightly…let’s say…irked at his behavior.

This first quote is pure Yvonne. It shows her honesty, her sense of humor, and her relationship with her best friend. You get a taste of her character.
“I miss sex.” Yvonne handed her friend Carol a caramel latte and propped her butt against the counter while she stared moodily out the front window of Carol’s flower shop. For once, not even the sweet scent of earlicheer and the sight of bunches of tulips, standing like soldiers on parade in their containers, cheered her.

Carol’s brown eyes twinkled from beneath a fringe that badly needed a trim. “I suppose we could give up on men and have sex together.”

Yvonne flashed a broad grin at her friend. “Thanks for the offer, sweetie, but I like the working parts of a man. They might look weird face-to-face but I miss touching them.”

“Well if it’s just touching you want, I’m sure there are any number of Clare men who’d volunteer their man bits for you to grope.”

“Ha!” Yvonne sipped her coffee and frowned out the window when she saw four women enter the bookstore. She crossed her fingers. If anymore people entered the cafĂ©, she’d need to end her break early. This time of the morning, after the breakfast trade, there was normally a lull. “I miss sex with Nolan.”

“We put a hex on his male parts. We made gingerbread men and poked skewers in his likeness, remember? His tools don’t work any longer.”

Yvonne sighed. “I know…”
In this second quote, from Nolan’s point of view, Yvonne has finally let Nolan back into her life and her bed, but she’s not about to make the same mistake twice. This is the first time they’ve had sex since getting back together, and she’s doing things on her terms! I love picturing Nolan’s face when I read this scene. *grin*
Yvonne stirred, pushing back to clamber off him. She flashed him a grin, and he found himself responding in kind.

Nolan took care of the condom and held out his arms. “Come here.”

“What’s the time?”

Nolan glanced at his watch. “Almost nine.”

“Okay. My favorite TV show is on at nine-thirty. Thanks for the sex. It was great.”

“What?” Nolan was pretty sure his face wore a stunned expression.

Yvonne picked up his shirt and handed it to him. “We both needed sex. We had it. End of story.”

“But…but…” Good god. He was stuttering.
I hope you enjoyed this taste of Nolan, Yvonne and the New Zealand country town of Clare.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas,

The heart’s best defense is a lusty offense.

Now that Nolan Penrith is finished with the Farmer Wants a Wife reality show, he’s ready to get back to the farm and a normal life free of publicity. Normal also means resuming his relationship with divorced, solo mother Yvonne McDonald.

Except she seems determined to resist any talk of reconciliation. On to plan B: woo her to his way of thinking. And if persuasion includes plenty of raunchy sex, he’s ready to man up.

Yvonne McDonald might still have feelings for Nolan, but she resents the way he expects to pick up right where they left off. Still, she’s a healthy woman with a body that—damn it—melts for him, so maybe she can twist this situation to suit her needs.

All she needs to do is hold her heart out of reach, hold her head high, and enjoy his brand of lusty sex without a care in the world. Easy-peasy. At least until her plan gets a little kink in it…

Warning: Contains hot country loving between an arrogant, sexy farmer and a woman who intends to prick his confidence and slap him down—her way

Shelley lives in New Zealand with her husband.

Typical New Zealanders, Shelley and her husband left home for their big OE soon after they married (translation of New Zealand speak – big overseas experience). A year long adventure lengthened to six years of roaming the world. Enduring memories include being almost sat on by a mountain gorilla in Rwanda, lazing on white sandy beaches in India, whale watching in Alaska, searching for leprechauns in Ireland, and dealing with ghosts in an English pub.

While travel is still a big attraction, these days Shelley is most likely found in front of her computer following another love – that of writing stories of romance and adventure. Other interests include watching rugby and rugby league (strictly for research purposes), and curling up with a good book.
