Tall, Dark and Royal (The Renegade Royals #2.5) by Vanessa Kelly

Magnificent and stubborn. Fourteen years apart had not changed Chloe Steele, or Dominic’s love for her. He’d been a street urchin, a boy raised at court, and finally a magistrate, yet he’d never belonged anywhere—except by her side. Now Chloe devoted herself to girls threatened by scandal—like she had been. But she was in danger, and Dominic was determined to help—and hopefully make up for lost time…

Even in childhood, Dominic had made Chloe feel safe. Now she also felt thrillingly flustered by the powerful man he’d become, and by the longing he inspired. Because Dominic meant not only to protect her, but to untangle the lies that had separated them. Yet for Chloe, surrendering to temptation may be easier than risking a future that could ruin them both…

Type: Historical Romance, Novella
Heat: 3 out of 5--limited
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Tall, Dark and Royal was one of those lovely little in-between reads when you just need an extra taste of a series while you wait for the next full length story. Fabulous characters, sweet romance, a tiny touch of danger...yups good times though one I think will be easier for those who have read the rest of the series.

Book Deals---New Releases, 99cent sales & Freebies!

So. We're trying something a little new today for the book listings. I'm trying to find something that works for yall and is a little easier for me to keep updated and such.

So trying this widget.
On the right side are the categories--New Releases, 99cent deals and Freebies.
Just click that then scroll through.
There may be a couple pages for each--I think only 9 books show per page.

The thing I DO like about this is if you click on any of the covers it'll open up to show you the blurb and book info which I know some of yall like. Then just hit back and it'll take you back to the listing widget or click buy and it'll take you to Amazon.

Not sure if I'll do it this way long term but kinda wanted to try it out for this week :D So. Let me know what you think! And if you're so inclined please share the post! ~Anna

Eeps! I'm late, I'm late! Sorry about that guys. The laptop needed to charge and I was just going to nap a little while it did then put up my post and, well, 8 hours later... lol Anywho. Today's Quote-tastic...

Ahhhh Night Shift! This is a fantastic anthology. If you're a novella...pretty much you hope to grow up to be one of the ones in this antho. These ladies rocked it so hard. It was fantastic! So two quotes today. I Just couldn't pick. First is from Nalini Singh's story. I just loved Bastien's voice. Kirby's pretty dang freaked out--and rightfully so--both of what was happening to her in the story and how quick they bonded and I loved how he spoke to her.

That’s how Mac McLaughlin sees her, anyway. And now that he’s enduring a temporary self-imposed exile in tiny Shelbyville, Texas, he’s seeing her way too often. Mac only wants to succeed as the contractor for the Lily Lake development in order to rebuild his reputation and return to Dallas, pronto. A sexy distraction like Ashton was not in the plans.

Ashton kissed her trust fund goodbye and left her life as a society princess to prove she could make it on her own. Developing Lily Lake is her big chance, but it’s hard to stay focused working side-by-side with bossy, rough-around-the-edges Mac. Especially when he pulls off his shirt.
When the discovery of an endangered species derails the project, Mac can’t afford to stick around for a stalled job. His and Ashton’s explosive chemistry aside, he’s outta there…unless she can convince him that they just might be able to build something together.

Caribou's Gift (Kodiak Landing #3.5) by Eve Langlais

Damn it, a man had his pride and a caribou a certain majestic presence, all of which could wind up ruined if he abased himself to play a simple-minded reindeer in the town’s Christmas parade.

No way was he wearing damned tinsel in his antlers.

Like hell was he sporting a red nose and pulling a sleigh.

But he changes his mind when he meets the woman in charge of the event.

Single mom, Crystal, is doing her best to offer her daughter the best Christmas ever. It’s their first in Kodiak Point, and she’s not about to let some vain jerk ruin it for her little girl.

If playing dirty is what it takes…then bring on the Christmas games. As Crystal and Kyle butt heads—and lips—they discover more than goodwill this holiday season. They’re gifted with a second chance at love.

Type: Paranormal, Novella
Heat: 3 out of 5--limited

Guest Post w/ Stacy Gail--Book Boyfriend "Must Haves"

Miranda Brookhaven returned to Bitterthorn, Texas to fix the past. Years ago, her father used her teenage romance with Coe Rodas to steal the prototype for a groundbreaking new automotive invention. Now her father's dead, and thanks to the convoluted will he left behind, she's stuck in town until she rights the wrong that lost her the man she loved.

Coe learned early on that life never goes according to plan. His dreams of hitting it big vanished when Miranda all but invited her father to take the only thing of value he ever had. But now the once-pampered princess is holed up in a condemned trailer on the edge of town...and everything he thought he knew about her—and about what happened between them back then—seems completely wrong.

Miranda's determined to give back to Coe all that he lost. If she can do that, maybe she can move on from the past. But Coe seems to be more interested in their rekindled passion than claiming what she thinks he deserves. She's got sixty days to convince him to cough up evidence that he's the original inventor—after that, the only way to transfer the patent rights over to him would be to make him part of the family, and she's not sure her heart can take another hit.

Before I begin, I’d like to thank Anna for allowing me to hop onto her awesome blog so I could gab about my latest release, WHERE THERE’S A WILL. Thank you so much, Anna! :D

Confession—I’m crushing hard on one of my own creations. :P Coe Rodas, the hero in WHERE THERE’S A WILL, has been in my head for a couple of years now, which means he’s had a lot of time to get fully fleshed out. As I dived into his story and his personality emerged, I realized that (for me, at least) he was the perfect book boyfriend. Everything about him made me do the “awwwww” thing, and by the end of the book, I had that satisfied, happy-sigh feeling. *sigh* See? There it is.

Okay! So today's pick is Judi Fennell's What a Woman Gets. This series is so fun! It's 3 brothers who lost a poker game to their baby sister and as payment they have to work for her cleaning service for a month as maids. And she's set them each up at a different household. This is kinda a half quote but omg it made me snort so hard. Liam is chatting with his brother about his assignment. His thought process sometimes just cracked me up.

Have you heard about Lyrical High Notes? Kinda neat!

Just wanted to share something new with yall that's pretty neat from Kensington Publishing and Books-a-Million.

They've started a new thing called Lyrical High Notes which is basically an exclusive digital to print deal where certain titles will be put to trade print for a short time via Books-a-Million for $12.95

I love that. Very nice for readers who don't get into e-books.

Rogue Spy (Spymasters #5) by Joanna Bourne

Ten years ago he was a boy, given the name Thomas Paxton and sent by Revolutionary France to infiltrate the British Intelligence Service. Now his sense of honor brings him back to London, alone and unarmed, to confess. But instead of facing the gallows, he’s given one last impossible assignment to prove his loyalty.

Lovely, lying, former French spy Camille Leyland is dragged from her safe rural obscurity by threats and blackmail. Dusting off her spy skills, she sets out to track down a ruthless French fanatic and rescue the innocent victim he’s holding—only to find an old colleague already on the case. Pax.

Old friendship turns to new love, and as Pax and Camille’s dark secrets loom up from the past, Pax is left with a choice—go rogue from the Service or lose Camille forever…

So, Rogue Spy has landed me in a bit of a waffle. And I'm so not a waffler. Usually I'm either firmly in the "oh I loved it!" category or..."dude...back away slowly" category. This one...wafflin'. It's one of those books that was enjoyable but that I didn't really love. And at barely over 300 pages took me a whopping 5 days to read. Something I can read in a day and a half usually. There were parts I really liked but others that just dragged on for me. Nothing that I hated or really disliked though...so you can see my problem, right? Anywho. Here goes...

  • The set up was fantastic. Two spies that trained together as children running into each other a decade later when having issues with the same man. Someone that's blackmailing her over her real identity. And someone that he was sure was dead and needed to stay that way. I mean. How could you NOT love that?

A new to me author for today's Quote-tastic pick! Woots! Shannon K Butcher (she's married to Jim). I've wanted to read her for ages and finally got the chance and total love. These two--Mira and Adam--are kind of at odds in Edge of Betrayal. He did her way dirty in a previous book and she's not forgiven him totally but he's fallen for her and it's pretty close to mutual. This little scene so fit Adam and his thoughts. He's an interesting hero for sure.

Night Pleasures (Dark Hunter #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Dear Reader,

Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to be immortal? To journey through the night stalking the evil that preys on humans? To have unlimited wealth, unlimited power? That is my existence, and it is dark and dangerous. I play hero to thousands, but am known to none. And I love every minute of it.

Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. Or in Amanda's case, buttoned all the way up to her chin. She's smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal-in other words, me.

My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Yet every time I look at her, I find myself wanting to try again. Wanting to believe that love and loyalty do exist.

Even more disturbing, I find myself wondering if there's any way a woman like Amanda can love a man whose battle scars run deep, and whose heart was damaged by a betrayal so savage that he's not sure it will ever beat again.
~Kyrian of Thrace

Type: Paranormal Romance
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Amazon | All Romance | Book Depository | BAM | Goodreads

Ahhhh. How I wish I could be Amanda and wake up handcuffed to my very own Dark Hunter. *girly sigh* If you haven't read this series you so need to. Night Pleasures was indeed a pleasure! lol I love the combination of Greek mythology mixed with a twist on vampires, steamy romance and the sultry locale of present day New Orleans. It's a fun world to get lost in for a few hours and one of my favorite series. It's actually one of the first I read when I was first getting into reading as an adult.

Randomly Random--Want to actually SEE those fan pages you LIKED on Facebook?

Being able to actually SEE the Fan Pages you LIKE on Facebook is an endless battle in the reader-y world. So often the pages you like...just don't show up in your feed.

But there are a couple things you can do to make sure you see what's going on with your favorite fan pages. Or at least a way to up your odds of seeing them.

My favorite is to create an Interest List.
And it's actually pretty darn easy.
And you'll be seriously surprised how much you've been missing.

The Mistress Experiment (Mistress #1) by Elizabeth Otto

“A gentleman would get to know you patiently, intimately, before demanding anything of your body. Tonight,I’m not going to be a gentleman.”

For wealthy British surgeon Isaac Kimball, being the good guy comes naturally. Caring for Chicago’s poorest fills his days and keeps his other side—the dark one that craves sensuality and control—at bay. When Isaac is prevented from saving a charity he loves, an acquaintance offers him a proposition: transform a woman from the streets into a sophisticated mistress who can pass in London high society, in exchange for the charity’s salvation. A ridiculous suggestion until he realizes he knows the perfect woman—one with an understated sexuality and sharp wit that continually tempt his control.

Mila DePardo counts the days until she can get off the streets and put her criminal past behind her. When Dr. Kimball offers her a ticket out of hell and into the glitter of London society, lying about her identity is easy. Until the chemistry between them starts to crack her no-sex rule, and the pleasure of Isaac’s touch changes everything she thought she wanted.

When the truth starts to unravel and Isaac’s own secrets come to play, Mila’s will and belief in herself is put to the test. She might win the mistress experiment, but can she survive him?

So I turned the last page of The Mistress Experiment... promptly mumbled a couple bad things in Otto's direction for making me cry at 230 in the morning and followed that with a may I have another, please!? Oh I had such a good time with this one!

The quick of it is that Isaac--who is a yummeh doctor-- has to return home to England for a family Gala and is in need of a "Mistress" in order to win a bet with his cousin. If he can fool everyone that a girl from the streets is a high class Mistress he'll score a huge donation to a charity he loves that's at risk. Yes. *slow nods* Men are stupid. But, Mila at least knows going in what's going on and she's in need of an escape from the struggles in her life and a deep personal need to keep that same charity running makes it impossible for her to turn down his offer. It of course doesn't hurt she's rather smitten with the man. She just needs to learn to be a proper Mistress to fool everyone at the Gala.

I loved Mila! It always makes me giddy when I find a heroine I adore and this lady...I adored. She's had a hard life. I mean. HARD. Nothing's been handed to her. She's made mistakes and paid for them dearly but she's trying to pull herself together and do what she thinks is right. There's a fighter in her that you can't help but admire.
