This series...just does me in. Walker has held me absolutely captivated as the dark and twisted secrets of this town and it's past unravel bit by bit and the monsters that lurk in it's midst are exposed and others finally find peace. Darker Than Desire was darkly intriguing--brutal, beautiful, heartbreaking and in the end incredibly touching as David and an entire town are thrown back into hell and fight their way to the truth, peace and justice.

The quick of it is that decades ago after escaping horrible abuse at the hands of his father and the men in the town David became Caine and has hidden in the Amish community near his home town ever since. But recently old murders, the discover of more victims and deaths in the community have forced him to reveal himself and come out of hiding only to have even more seemingly random deaths occur.

David and Sybil were both so interesting. Sybil was a wonderful heroine. She's strong and steady--raising her nephew, dealing with everything thrown at her and loving David with everything in her. She stood by him for years and supported him through his struggles and never backs down.

And David. I really felt for David. The man has a strength and power in him that can be incredibly unnerving and is so damaged by the abuse he suffered in the past. Feeling tainted by the evil that touched him and not seeing his worth. But he could be sweet and surprising and watching him deal with trying to fit in and be was heart touching.
"You're in my blood, in my soul. I can't remember a time anymore when I didn't need you," he whispered, the words slipping out from him without him even realizing it.
They don't have the sweetest of romance or an easy love but the two were so right for and with each other and the passion between them was crazy intense and raw. David would totally leave a girl panting and begging for more. I was surprised how erotic this one was but hot damn it was an amazing little discovery that was totally working for me.

The suspense of this series is absolutely devastating and heartbreaking and just curls your stomach as past horrors are uncovered and all of the people involved in it are dug out. This time with even more murders happening that are somehow connected to David. It kept me curious, kept me on edge and gave me a couple surprises which I always love.

All in all, the series just gets better and better with each addition. The heat, passion and suspense of Darker than Desire were beautifully entwined and and kept me eagerly flipping the pages to see what would unfold next.
