Interview w/ Kristen Ashley-- Kristen vs. Twitter

Hey Guys! We've got Kristen Ashley joining us today! Yall give her a big welcome and hit those comments!

Morning Kristen! Welcome to herding cats! I'm ready for some book gossip! lol
I hope I can give it to you! :)
Oh I have no doubt. Now, say you had only 10 seconds to hook someone what would you tell them to get em all hot and bothered over Sebring? Kind of twitter style. Go!
Well, girl, this is why I have trouble with Twitter. Because, as folks could tell at the size of my books, I’m not good with short! But I’d say: Love, trust, redemption, belief and maybe some light bondage. Does that work? :D
Ha! I'm dying! You do write some...thick ones. Can you tell us 3 fun/sexy/quirky/neat/etc behind the scenes facts about Nick and Olivia's story?
  • The end of this book came to me first. I didn’t know if I was going to like Nick but as I was taking a walk and the song that I used for one of the final scenes was playing, it hit me like a rocket.
  • Nick secretly loves Olivia’s cooking. He gives her crap about it, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
  • Nick’s pad is based on a set of a movie I saw where a character gets killed by her female lover in bed in this magnificent apartment somewhere in Europe. I just don’t remember which movie I saw it in!
Oh man. That so sounds like me. I'm forever going I know I read that...somewhere! So. Nick doesn't sound like your average hero. Are there any quotes or moments that perfectly sum him up?
Sorry, darlin’, Nick is a lot more complex than a quote or a moment. He’s got a very interesting history, his folks not exactly “Leave It to Beaver.” He didn’t fit in. Didn’t handle not fitting in very well. And the journey to become the man he became was filled with him making stupid and/or hurtful decisions. But regardless how unconventional his family is, they’re made of strong stuff so eventually that comes out in him. Most specifically when he finds the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Sounds like quite the road to travel. And speaking of the woman he finally found...What's the first thing that pops into your head about Olivia?
She’s damaged. I’m not certain I’ve ever written a heroine as hopeless as she is. As broken. Livvie cut me up, writing her. I think I got blue just being in her head. Thank goodness she met Nick!
It sounds like they both desperately needed each other. Now...Food. If Nick was going to be any deliciously tempting dish what would he be?
My first thought on this was Olivia’s Taco Extravaganza. Rich. Meaty. Flavorful. Leaves you full and sated but still wanting more!
Jesus. And now I'm hungry. *contemplates raiding the fridge but settles for man candy* Mmhm. What is your favorite?
Right now I have a crush on Sullivan Stapleton.

One thing I want to do in 2016...
Survive it! We have tons of travel next year and the schedule is going to make balancing travel, work, writing and life even harder than ever. Oh, and I’d like to go white water rafting.
I hear that! Weirdest thing in your purse right now?
I don’t carry around a lot because I’m a handbag junkie so I never know if they’re going to be luggage-size or envelope-clutch-size so I carry very little with me and nothing that’s weird.
 yeah I totally...
Should make sure the bag of Styrofoam popcorn is firmly shut away or my very fluffy cat, Starla, who has a popcorn fetish will be trailing it all over the house and I’ll be cleaning it up for weeks!
OMG she sounds like she'd fit in with the herd here! What's for dinner?
I’ve no idea. I’m not a plan ahead type of girl and it’s ten in the morning! I won’t know until I stagger down the stairs in the dark in six hours!
LOL I'm totally the opposite. Breakfast ends and I'm thinking about the next nom. lol Anywho...Now that Sebring has hit shelves what's up next for you?
I’ve just finished Deke and Justice’s story, the next in the Colorado Mountain series (just, as in I finished it yesterday). It’s right now titled BOUNTY though that may change as it progresses through copyedits and proofs. I loved how this book went. I was surprised by it, but I fell in love with it. And added bonus, it has lots of awesome music in it!
I’ve also nearly completed my first real erotica novel, a BDSM story with an alpha-sub, which I’m thinking about releasing next year as well. I’m totally in love with that story, and challenging myself with attempting a new genre, so I’m excited and need to get on completing that.
What’s next as in today, tomorrow and the next however many days is going through tons of proofs so we can get back library titles in print and audio. As for what’s next writing…we’ll have to see!
Ahh sounds like an awesome next little while. You've totally got me curious about the BDSM story. Yum! Thanks so much for dropping in, Kristen! Hope you have a fab 2016!
Thanks for having me, honey. And right back at you! xx

Nick Sebring has issues. Born feeling like an outsider in his own family, growing up under the shadow of a brother who could do anything, Nick isn’t that great of a guy. But when this culminates with Nick lashing out to hurt his brother through the woman he loves, Nick turns inward and makes some decisions about the man he intends to be.

And as he does this, he falls in love and truly learns the man that he’s grown to be.

When his love is murdered right before Nick’s eyes, Nick knows he has to avenge her. He knows how he’s going to avenge her. And he has no qualms using Olivia Shade to exact that vengeance.

Olivia Shade has grown up on the outside of her family too. Her problem is that they don’t want her outside. They want her all the way in, right under their thumbs. She pays the price for seeking escape and learns her lesson—she’ll never see a dawn where she wakes up free.

Then she meets Nick Sebring, and even as she fights it, the hope that died years ago starts to blossom. She can find love. She can have a man of her own. She can be happy. She can be free.

Olivia hopes while Nick schemes.

However, as Nick peels back the layers of all that is Olivia Shade, he finds something surprising. He understands its fragility. He falls in love with its beauty. He seeks to protect it.

But he forgets to protect his Livvie from one thing: Nick Sebring.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
