The Monthly Herd--July-- Florida, Flooring & Reader Woes

Ahhhh so July was a BIG month here. I finally made it home to Florida. It had been 8 years since I'd been home. Gah! It was a quick trip but a lot of fun and my first big train ride (from NC to FL). I did a post about it for yall wanting to see pics.

Randomly Random: Unruly Body Parts

So I was laying in bed (yeah, the start of so many randomly randoms lol) and found myself untucking my earlobes for like the millionth time because my blasted unruly earlobes kind of tilt forward and when I lay down they like to tuck themselves and it drives me absolutely bonkers.
I'm seriously all... Get your shit together, earlobes! Get your shit together!

Anyways. So I'm laying there in the middle of the night feeling growly over earlobes. And it got me thinking about unruly body parts in general...

4 stars-- Love Blooms on Main Street (Briar Creek, #4) by Olivia Miles

Love Blooms on Main Street, indeed. A lovely heroine, a struggling hero, small town frustrations, and finding what you really need and want in life. Splendid!

The quick of it is that Brett needed a break from big city medicine and has come back to his small home town to work at a local hospital. It's just a stopping point for him before moving on again. He doesn't need to form connections but the sweet local florist? Being forced to work on a big fundraising event with her? Yeah, she may end up being too dang tempting to resist.

Insta-Wednesday-- snoots, storms, and halloween?!

Because I love Instagram and fun pictures. The Herd's week ala Instagram :)

Not a ton of photos from the last two weeks but a few :D I have a bunch more photos in another post, though, if you missed it. I took a wee break and headed down to visit the family in Florida. You can check out the train trip HERE

Anywho. On to the cute from the last little while...

Buy The Book: New Releases, Sales, & Freebies 7/26

I'm just gonna need all the books. ALL. THE. BOOKS. lol Lots of awesome releases this week. Yall grabbing any of them? Some real good deals, too. That M. O'keefe one was fantastic!

3 stars-- Don't Let Go (Hope #6) by Jaci Burton

A heroine with a passion for baking and setting down roots, a sweets loving hero who dreams of escaping connections, a cute pooch who charms them all, and lots of heat? Yeah, Don't Let Go was a good time.

The quick of it is that Brady is biding his time until he's saved up enough funds to start a bike shop somewhere else. He doesn't want ties to the community or to settle down. But everything and everyone around him? Hell bent and determined to get this man attached. To the town, to the people, to the girl, to a sweet little pup all by itself. Hope may just become home after all.

So. I had a good time with this one but at the same time it wasn't a perfect read for me...

Today...Shiloh Walker! She's one of my favorites and, gah, this series...so good! This time around it was two actors who'd know each other since, well, forever. There story wasn't what I was expecting but whew! Good!

This one just cracked me up. I'd be the same damn way if someone came knocking on my door like that. lol Oh, and she's staying at a hotel right now since they're filming for a movie.

Tasty Delights-- Lemon Pie (all fancified)

So. I was bored. lol And then pie happened. I wanted to do a fourth of july-ish pie (of course it didn't actually happen in time for fourth of july but, well) and I started a pinterest search. Which found me an ice cream cake with red and blue pin wheel-ish design. And I had an Ooo! pretty! moment.

But I don't eat ice cream.

And really a whole pie of ice cream...ergs.

So I thought...hmmm what about key lime pie. Because that would have the right consistency I needed for the design. But I wasn't in the mood for key lime and had lemons so figured I'd try for a lemon pie. I found an egg free recipe as well since I'm off those right now.

It's a little tart but pretty good! Even if the whole recipe was an exercise in creativity and making do.

4 stars-- Sinner's Revenge (Sinner's Creed MC #2) by Kim Jones

Kim Jones. The lady knows how to write a compelling, in your face, completely captivating romance that's unique, dark, and leaves you craving more.

Sinner's Revenge was a wild ride as Shady spirals down a very dark path of revenge against a rival MC and finds a little light and happiness in an unexpected and crazy woman who may just have a bit of darkness in her as well.

So 5 things about Sinner's Revenge...

Randomly Random-- So. The Train happened. And it was something!

*waves* Hey guys! It's been a little quiet on the blog the last few days. If you're in the FB group you already know I went to Florida! It was the first time I've been able to get home in 8 years (ack!) and was my first time taking the train on a long trip too.

Figured I'd share a little about the trip :) I'll be around to catch up on everyone's blogs the next few days and will get things going on here too. Didn't realize until I got home my mom didn't have wifi so my laptop was useless and she's in the middle of the country so my phone was pretty useless for updates and such too. *flails* lol

Bites & Nibbles-- [A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches] & [Instant Happy Journal]

A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches

Well. I can't say as I've ever had a cookbook curse at me...until now. lol A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches was pretty hilarious and gave me some sandwich ideas. I could totally nom on a couple in the cookbook for sure.

4 stars-- Wanderlust by Roni Loren

Well let just start out by saying...imma need books for the rest of the band now. Get on it, Loren! Get on it! I'm totally not above bribing with pretty stickers. I'm really not. lol Goodness but Wanderlust was one helluva good time. Yeah. It's totally 5:46am. Not even gonna lie. I read all night. And the last 30 minutes of it with the phone plugged into the wall while I was reading. I was not putting this one down.

Insta-Wednesday-- the one in which there's a LOT of BabyG

Because I love Instagram and fun pictures. The Herd's week ala Instagram :)

There was a LOT of BabyG happening this last couple weeks. A LOT of BabyG. And she is pleased. Well, about that at least.

3 stars-- Hottest Mess (S.I.N. #2) by J. Kenner

Wanna complicate your life?

Fall in love with your brother.

Yeah. That'll do it. lol

Such is the case with Dallas and Jane--who are siblings through adoption. They've had a thing for each other for years and are finally giving into temptation. To add fuel to the fire they're also dealing with the aftermath of being kidnapped as teenagers and the continued hunt for the people who set them up all those years ago. An emotional roller coaster like you wouldn't believe.

Buy The Book: New Releases, Deals & PRIME DAY!!

Just a handful of new releases today but hopefully yall will see this in time for some of the Prime Day deals happening!

4 stars-- Loving a Lawman (Cattle Creek #1) by Amy Lillard

It's always exciting to take a risk on a new-to-you author and have it really pay off. And pay off it did. Loving a Lawman was sweet, touching, and has me hooked.

The quick of it is that the local sheriff has a thing for the local wild child. The local wild child that happens to have an on again off again thing going with his brother--who happens to have a thing for buckle bunnies. Yeah. Toss in a falling out with one brother, an unexpected kiss with the other, one opinionated small town, some heartache and some sweet romance and, whew, it's one messy, bumpy road to a happily ever...but so worth it.

Woohoo! A new to me author and an amazing read. I had such a good time with this one and went a little quote-happy. #SorryNotSorry!

Okay so hero/heroine--who aren't a thing yet--are chasing after some bad guys and wind up in an inn for the night that only has one bed. Gave me a giggle...

Tasty Delights-- Cheesy Taco Pasta Soup

Once again a Tasty Delight started with seeing something on Facebook. lol I'm a sucker for those videos.

This one is SUPER easy. You basically just dump all ingredients in the pot and let it cook for 20 or so minutes and voila!

The original recipe is actually for more of a pasta bake consistency. I ended up doing mine more of a soup version. Both work fine!

It turned out pretty tasty too. It actually reminded me of hamburger helper. Ha! It's been ages since I had one of those but this was like a homemade version of it.

Thoughts from a Reader Girl: OMG the pages will just NOT read themselves!

It's one of those weeks. Last week I was a reading machine! I couldn't get through books fast enough and managed to tuck in 6 books. Woo! Go me! Seriously. It was amazing!

This week.

Blogger-reader-girl hell.

The pages just will NOT read themselves.

4 stars-- The Summer Bride (Chance Sisters #4) by Anne Gracie

Oh I just loved it! The Summer Bride was the perfect end to a stunning series from Gracie. The characters, the romance, the humor and passion all came together for an absolutely charming experience as the last Chance "sister" meets her match in a cocky Irishman who has a naughty gleam in his eye.

The quick of it is that Flynn is searching for the perfect wife--elegant, classy, and a true Lady. And he's found himself incredibly bored with the polite, reserved women who fit that bill. His good friend Daisy, however, is another story. She'd rather dress the ladies of the ton than be a lady herself. She's crass, headstrong, ambitious and tempting him something fierce! She'll be damned if romance will get in her way, though. She's got things to do! Step aside, Flynn! Step aside! lol

Bites & Nibbles: [A Gift for Guile by Alissa Johnson] & [A Better Man by Candis Terry]

A Gift for Guile (The Thief-takers #2) by Alissa Johnson

A Gift for Guile was an entertaining historical romp with such enchanting characters. A prickly, oversensitive, knife wielding, former thief of a heroine and a somewhat stodgy private detective hero with an exasperating tendency of always saying just the wrong thing. Yeah. These two were something special. lol

4 stars-- Into the Blue (Wild Aces #2) by Chanel Cleeton

Sometimes it just doesn't seem possible that a romance will be able to survive the hurdles in its way--a messy decades old breakup, hurt and regret, careers and lives on opposite sides of the country--but when things finally fall into place it's beautiful, touching, and just leaves you smiling. That...was Into the Blue. Once again, Cleeton simply wowed.

The quick of it is that Eric is suffering from burn out and a case of PTSD and needing some time away from his job as a fighter pilot. So he heads back to his home town--and to a woman he once loved but has avoided for a decade-- to figure things out and maybe, just maybe, find what he needs to soothe this restless soul and mend her long broken heart.

Buy The Book: New Releases, Sales, & Freebies 7/5

OMG the amazing books this week! Into the Blue (dies!) Falling in Deeper, A Gift for Guile, Learning to Ride, Loving a Lawman, If the Earl Only Knew, The Summer Bride, Paper and Fire. OMG you just need them ALL! *pets all the pretties* They were so good, yall!

Book Bites: Learning to Ride by Erin Knightley & The McCullagh Inn in Maine by Jen McLaughlin

The tagline for the Bookshots Flames line from James Patterson is "Novels you can devour in a few hours. And ...impossible to stop reading" and damn if that wasn't true.

Learning to Ride by Erin Knightley

A cowboy, a city girl, a sleepy little town and unstoppable attraction...Learning to Ride pulled me in and wouldn't let go.

The quick of it is that Madeline's come to a small town in Texas to manage a merger for her company. She plans on sticking around for a year, not getting attached, then heading back to the big city and career advancement. Little did she know a one night stand with what turned out to be a local heartthrob--and former rodeo star-- would muck that all up and leave her heart in a tangle.

Sensual, sexy, suspense... yes, please! Falling in Deeper was a lot of fun and damn if I could pick just one quote. *hangs head* So... a mini smorgasbord of quotes today. To kick it off. Lily, the heroine, has a pretty messed up past and she's got some hardcore sexual hangups from it. There were some really hard bits as they dealt with it but some pretty funny ones too. Stone's reaction made me snort...

4 stars-- The Billionaire Bachelor (Billionaire Bad Boys #1) by Jessica Lemmon

Lemmon just writes the best billionaires! Sinfully sexy and just as sweet! Whew!

The Billionaire Bachelor was all kinds of sexy fun as Merina and Reese come to a little agreement--she'll marry him to help improve his reputation so his board of directors will name him CEO and in return he'll sign over her family's boutique hotel--which his company had just purchased-- to her free and clear. Six months. They just have to survive six months as husband and wife and convince everyone around them it's legit and they'll both have everything they ever wanted. A challenge for sure. An even bigger one? Not falling for the ruse themselves.
