4 stars-- Every Crooked Nanny, To Live and Die in Dixie & Homemade Sin by Kathy Hogan Trocheck

I picked up my first from Kathy Hogan Trocheck aka Mary Kay Andrews when browsing audio books at my library. They had cute covers and I was up for some mystery so... I jumped in. And had a blast!

3.5 stars-- Holding on Tighter (Wicked Lovers #12) by Shayla Black

So. Holding on Tighter. It started rough. And it ended rough. But the middle bits were good! lol I read this one back in February then promptly forgot to review it other than that. Erms. Blogger fail, moment! Ha!

3.5 stars-- Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson #10) by Patricia Briggs

Woohoo! I finally finished Silence Fallen. And it only took me...3 months. Erms!

I struggled really hard with the first 45% of Silence Fallen and ended up putting it on my temp DNF shelf because it just wasn't working for me earlier this year. It wasn't the book, though. It was me trying to force read it in time for release day when I really wasn't in a mood for PNR/UF. And that always goes poorly.

Buy The Book-- New Releases, Sales, Freebies + Amazon Random Finds

Holy cow. There are a LOT of new releases this week. SOO man good looking ones. I loved Lyon's (she's one of the authors I work for) and can't wait to dive into the Shalvis and O'Keefe. They're both fantastic.

Covers link to Amazon. Let me know what you grab! Oh and there's some cool random non book finds way at the bottom :)

I had so much peopling this past week (one big thing near every day) and one of the authors I work for has a book release today so it's been crazy! All good stuff just really busy. Whew! I'm ready for a nap or two. But And meme-ing!

Get Social Wrap Up! + Questionnaire

Whew! So two weeks went by really really fast! I hope everyone had a great time and met some new bloggers to hang out with.

I thought I'd do a wrap up post with a couple thoughts and such :)

Tasty Delights-- Green Farro Bowl

omg food noms! food noms!

This one might not look like much but it was delicious! Everything about it was tasty. And it was very easy to make. Again, courtesy of HelloFresh-- yeah they come up with some great recipes!

I'm really loving recipes that look or sound fancy but are so simple to make. This would be great during the summer when zucchini is in abundance!

3.5 stars-- The Warrior (Brotherhood/MacAllister #7) by Kinley MacGregor

You know how sometimes you wind up needing to read a book with the horse on the cover? No? Just me?

Well, that's how I ended up with The Warrior. And it was a pretty fun enemies to lovers romance as Loclan and Cat--whose absentee father is trying to kidnap her--are forced to trust and rely on each matter how much it grates. Lordy but I love that storyline.

3 stars-- A Touch of Frost by Jo Goodman #QuoteTastic

I love me some Jo Goodman. So I was pretty excited about this one. It kicks off with the heroine getting kidnapped and at some point Phoebe and the hero Remington leave the ranch to head out and see if they can find any clues about the guys who kidnapped her. And they kind of flub things because the up and they get caught in a massive downpour on a cold day. They'd finally made it to a cabin and this bit just cracked me up.

I did like this heroine.

Buy the Book-- New Releases, Freebies & Sales + Some Random Coolness

A few new releases today. All authors I enjoy but skipped reviewing so...I have no idea if they're good but probably. lol

Some freebies and good sales, too! Let me know if you grab anything!

OH!!! And I'm adding some other random things in down at the bottom that I thought looked cool. Not books but just fun stuff :)

Tasty Delights-- Cauliflower Quinoa Bowl

I was a bit wary over this one. I'm not even sure why since I like all of the ingredients. But for some reason I was sure I wasn't going to like the Cauliflower Quinoa Bowl recipe that landed on my doorstep from HelloFresh.

But! I was surprised. This was delicious, easy, and I'll be making it again!
The roasted veggies and the fresh crema especially. SO good, yall. So good.

3.5 stars-- The Return (Sunnybell #2) by Erin Knightley

Yall know I'm a tart when it comes to cowboys.

Add in that this is by Erin Knightley (one of my local ladies) and I was in! I'd been in a bit of a reading slump and The Return hit the spot.

Basically Mack was in a really bad rodeo accident and has ended up back home injured and broke and desperately needing his ex's help. Something she's not all that inclined to offer since he really fucked up right good when they were teens-- I was NOT pleased with him, yall. I mean. He had the cowboy thing working for him still but homeboy was in the dog house. Mmhm.

Anywho. A bargain is made--she'll help him out with his problem-- losing his sponsor who happens to be her uncle-- if he'll help her get some connections in the rodeo world she's wanting to break into.

4 stars-- Kidnapped Cowboy (Captured Hearts #1) by Lindsey Brookes

My friend Kelly sent me the audio for Kidnapped Cowboy back last year and I just loved it! But then I forgot to write a review *hangs head* so I decided to do a re-listen just for the heck of it because, really, cowboys! And it was just as fun the second go-round :)

4 stars-- Wolf Hunt (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #6) by Paige Tyler (Quote-Tastic)

Werewolves!!! I used to eat and breath paranormal romance. Right now I think the only two werewolf series I read are Paige Tyler's and Jennifer Ashley's series. Both are SO good! I'm always all over them. This one. I love that the guys are a SWAT team of alpha werewolves. So fun! The guys have a great friendship between them all and I love watching it come out in their fun moments, their groan-worthy moments and when they give advice...

Buy the Book-- New Releases, Sales, Freebies!

Pretty new reads!! I loved Wolf Hunt. So good! Currently reading Jo Goodman's and it's pretty good, too.

Tasty Delights-- Texas Caviar

One of my 2017 goals was to try 52 new recipes. And this is the first one. Of course, yall are reading this in, like, June, and I made it in January but still! lol Texas Caviar. I don't know how I stumbled on this one but it was pretty and rather healthy and I was in.

It was yummy, too!

4 stars-- About a Dog (A Bluff Point Romance #1) by Jenn McKinlay

Okay. I know you've seen this cover. How freaking CUTE is it?! I could not resist it. I didn't even make an attempt to resist it. I was all ohmigawd it's adorable I neeeeeed it *grabby hands*

I really was.

And About a Dog was a fun little read, too! Forbidden flings, crazy friends, adorable pups, a lickable veterinarian. Totally fun.

So. Mac's best friend is getting married and everyone's come home to celebrate and in Mac's case try not jump her best friend's baby brother...again. Yeah she kinda had a drunken fling with him 7 years earlier and damn if he isn't even hotter all these years later. Her best friend would totally freak so Gavin and his sexy veterinarian self is off limits. Maybe. Hopefully...

The Monthly Herd--May 2017-- I'm a Grandma, Yall!!

I know! So. Yes, I'm a grandmom now! Turns out the #HerdMouse Livvy? Total tart! I went to clean her tank this week and....found squiggly little babies. Ack! They're so stinking cute, though! And tiny! One has ventured out of their igloo so far.

In other news. Hrm. I got a lot done around the house for mission #DontLiveInHell and on the blog (all of the graphic updates are almost done!), planned a couple events, did some USO-ing. and a lovely Mother's Day brunch with Ro from In the Know with Ro and took an art history class at our museum. It was a pretty good month both on the home and blog front :)

A lot of new pretties. I loved Carolyn Brown's latest.
And Physical Forces is SO on my TBR pile. Noms!

QuoteTastic/Review-- Toughest Cowboy in Texas (Happy, Texas #1) by Carolyn Brown

Yall I love me some cowboys and Carolyn Brown writes a yummy one. And a dang funny story, too. And look at that cover! Yum!

Alright two funny church quotes. It's not a religious book but they do go to church and these made me laugh because, well, I've had a similar first conversation with my grandmom/mom and the second I just love her cheek. lol

Tasty Delights-- Pesto Tortelloni Bake

Aaaaand another HelloFresh meal. Ha! I swear half my 'new' recipes I make are from HelloFresh. They've been a lot of fun. And almost all of them very simple. I'll link info for HelloFresh at the bottom for anyone interested.

Anywho. So Pesto Tortelloni Bake was up for today. And I was like huh! They had a typo. But I did a little looking and tortelloni is a thing. Who knew?! It's like the bigger cousin to tortellini. Larger and often cheese and vegetable filled instead of meat. Works for me! They were GOOD!

Audio Files-- The Heist & The Chase by Janet Evanovich/Lee Goldberg

Oh this series was fun! Fox and O'hare follows and FBI agent heroine and...the con man she's been hunting for years. Who are now having to work together as a team to tackle off the books missions the FBI can't officially get involved with. Fun banter, captivating characters, a little danger and adventure. A fantastic time all the way around.

3 stars-- Kiss of the Irish (Foreign Fling #1) by Lauren Hawkeye

So. You've been dumped for a skanky exotic dancer.

Plan of action?

A three month trip to Ireland to soak up all the sexy Irishmen and their pant-worthy accents. Mmhm.

Pretty much what prudent and rather predictable Sarah has decided to do. Yup. She sure has. And turns out her new landlord? A pub owner who rocks some sexy Irishman vibes real hard and isn't afraid to flirt in her direction. Woo! Yes. Kiss of the Irish was a steamy little read and quite a bit of fun.

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

4 stars-- Master of the Abyss (Mountain Masters & Dark Haven, #2), by Cherise Sinclair

Some Cherise Sinclair today. An older one but still fun. And a bit naughty. The hero owns a, erm, naughty travel lodge, the heroine owns an outdoor adventures type business and the two are trying to work out a business deal but she has to see what kind of things they offer and, well, things get steamy, and funny...

SIGN UP-- Get Social Blogger Event! (June 4-17)

A lot of the blogs I've followed for years have either closed doors or just don't post all that often anymore.

So I thought it might be fun to do a social blogging event that helps us get to know other blogs and hopefully find some new ones to follow after the event.

4.5 stars-- Marry in Haste (Marriage of Convenience #1) by Anne Gracie

Oh. My. Word. Marry in Haste was a wonderful beginning to her newest series. Full of hope, humor, second chances and new beginnings. It was everything wonderful with Gracie's writing and will sweep you away and leave you utterly spent and satisfied.

Okay, okay, so the background bits behind the awesome. Cal is a military man. A military man used to order, barking out commands and having them followed instantly Something his life is sorely missing now that he's inherited not only a damaged title but three unruly, outlandish, angry, plain ol wild teenagers that came with it. His solution to this hellish nightmare? Find himself a wife and let her take over trying to wrangle the little hoydens who have taken over his life.

4 stars-- Red Wolf (Shifters Unbound #10) by Jennifer Ashley

Jennifer Ashley is simply amazing. Red Wolf was exciting, nerve wracking, made me laugh, made me smile, and had me falling even more in love with the Shifters Unbound series.

So, basically, there's something fishing going on in the shifter world and the leaders are... concerned. So Dimitri and Jaycee-- two of the trackers-- are sent to do what they do best...scope the scene and figure out where the danger is coming from and if one of their own has sold them out to the fae.
