I was totally cracking up over these two. He doesn't so much like being touched and meditation? Lordy, no thanks! She totally rocked it with her response...
Seriously, yall. I fucking lost it. lol I'm so like the hero in this book."You tell me to soar like an eagle, and I'm thinking, there aren't any eagles in Brooklyn."
"Uh-huh. So you need the Brooklyn version of a guided meditation? More trash on the beach? Fuhggeddaboudit?"
"I can do that. Close your eyes."
He closed them.
She lay both hands lightly on his shoulders. "I want you to listen to my voice," she said, using a soft voice and a nice, even tone. "Do your best to follow my instructions. Take a deep, slow breath and will yourself to be fully here, inside the moment."
His belly began to expand with breath.
"...Make a calm space inside yourself for your breath. Let the inhale fill you with strength. On the exhale, I want you to gradually expel all the bullshit of the external world."
He opened one eye and looked up at her, then closed it again.
"That's it," she urged. "Center your awareness on your breathing. If you find your mind wandering to other thoughts, simply acknowledge that all is fucking horseshit. Let it go. Listen to your inner stillness. Breathe in calm. Exhale bullshit."
His belly was shaking with laughter now.
"You think I'm not serious? Meditation can sound however you need it to. It's your show, big man." She patted his shoulder.
The quick of it is that Ari is the hockey team's yoga instructor and massage therapist. And Doulie, the team's captain and enforcer, has an injury she's supposed to work on. Only thing? He hates being touched by anyone. Challenge accepted!
I really loved these two. They're both dealing with personal issues that have left their lives a bit messy. She's got a crazy ex that won't go away. He's dealing with injuries and some bad choices because of them. They're both a little hesitant, strong willed and damn good at what they do. And holy hell are they fucking hot together.
Yeah. The heat in this one is through the dang roof. These two seriously had me squirming. It's not an erotic romance but, yeah, the sex scenes definitely had that sexy edge to them. Lordy! It was delicious! I loved their romance, too, though. They're sweet. She's nervous about trying again, he's never let anyone close to him. There are some fumbles along the way but, gah, the two of them working through things and learning to trust each other just got me. I loved it.
A little suspense with her ex, a little action on the ice, some work drama for Patrick. There were a lot of elements that kept Hard Hitter exciting and just lit me up. Bowen definitely has a new fan. Sexy, sweet romance that'll heat you up and leave you sighing in happy reader-girl bliss. I'm in. I'm all in. Bring on the next Brooklyn Bruiser!
After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now, she’s decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers’ MVP. O'Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O'Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good...
