Meme-age! Halloween Candy? Pffft Man Candy! Woo! (plus new reads)

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

Woosh! Yall it's been a long week! I did make it to some blogs! I'm still in the process of catching up. But getting there!

Reading has been slow but mostly because life has been busy. But I did finish two books and nearly done with book 3. So life is good on that front.

(kinda) Tasty Delights and Dazzling Disasters-- See! I'm not a total #DomesticGoddess {winks}

Yall know I love to cook. And I share some seriously tasty treats here on the blog each month. But it's not always perfectly delicious. I know. I know. I totally broke the illusion. I, alas, am not a domestic goddess every damn second of the day. Sometimes I have flat out disasters. Anyone remember the Brownie Bowls from hell? Yeah.

And sometimes the recipes are just okay as they were. Something I didn't hate. Didn't love. Might make again one day with a few tweaks. Now and again I like to share those with yall. And so I present... some (semi) Tasty Delights and some Dazzling Disasters.

3-3.5 stars--- Wrong Number, Right Guy (The Bourbon Street Boys #1) by Elle Casey

I didn't hate it!

Which is surprising after seeing the reviews from friends.

So, the gist. May, she lands herself in the middle of a biker bar... in a shootout. Because of a wrong number. OOps! And now she's got to put her trust-- or at least a little-- in one of the bad guys. Who might not be a bad guy. But surely isn't a safe bet, either. Mmhm.

Meme-age: Wait, What Did You Call That Book?!! #CrazyTitleso

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

Woosh! Another week(end) over and gone. I cannot believe it's already the 23rd. It doesn't seem possible! It was a busy week here with volunteering at a WWII plane exhibit, Silent Book Club get together, building laundry room shelving (I'm re-modeling), herding. And some actual blog visiting! I've made it to about 18 of yall now. So I still have a lot of you to go. But I'm actually getting there! It's so exciting to catch up and see what everyone's been up to. Yay!

Anywho. On to today's post!

Tasty Delights-- Tex Mex Risotto #FuckingAssholeGrain

Let's just start by saying Risotto is fucking bitch! Oh. My. Word.

Honestly. This rice has serious attitude problems.

Another HelloFresh box. This one was HARD! They come in levels of easy, medium, advanced and, yeah. They weren't lying. This was a difficult dish and took a damn bit longer than theirs usually do. Most are like 20-30 minutes max to make. This took me over an hour. Fucking A! But it was delicious.

4 stars-- The Dispatcher by John Scalzi

Oh this was fun. The Dispatcher was a little different than my normal grab but I've been on an audio binge lately and it was in my cloud and I figured...why not. It's quick read but quite entertaining.

The Story:

The basic gist is that you can no longer be murdered. Well, not easily. If someone kills you? Your body kind of goes poof! and you wind up back at your home all in one piece--though naked-- and ready to have another go at things.

And the hero, Tony? He kills people.

And There Were Pretty Books. Ones You Should Buy. Really.

So many pretties! I enjoy Hoyts. Dark historical romance. They're so good!
And some fab sales. LOVED the JT Geissinger ones.

Meme-age! Oh The Food Noms, Yall! Plus New Pretties!

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

I CAN READ AGAIN!!!!! Yall! I'm damn near giddy. No, who am I kidding. I AM GIDDY!!! My eyes are cooperating for, really, the first time since July! And I read! And it was glorious! Ebooks and even print books. Hallelujah! It's still not perfect and by end of day things are going wonky but, yall, it's so much better. And I'm getting caught up on blog visits! I'm doing like 5 at a time and there are a couple hundred on my feed so some of yall, I'm sorry, I haven't gotten there yet. But I'm working on it! Woo! Aaaaaand...on with today's post. lol

Insta-Catching Up....again. lol

Because I love Instagram and sharing what we've been up to the last, erm, month. lol Yea, I've been bad at doing these posts lately. There's been things....

4 stars-- Captive Cowboy (Captured Hearts #2) by Lindsey Brookes

Can I have another, please? lol

A growly reclusive hero. A sassy yet slightly broken heroine in need of help. A cute little pup rounding out their trio. Oh yes. I had a good time with this group as Brandon lands himself an unexpected house guest and she sets about changing his life.

4 stars-- Lady Charlotte's First Love (The Sutherland Sisters #2) by Anna Bradley

Aaaaahhh, Anna Bradley. It wouldn't be one of her books if I didn't want to stab someone at least once!

Quick of it is that Charlotte's having a wild-widow-loose-in-London breakdown and her family is all ohmahgawd we have to do something so they bring in Julian who has his own holy-shit-I'm-all-fucked-up thing going on and task him with getting Charlotte to leave the city and retire to the country with her family where she'll hopefully not cause her ruin with her crazy antics. Of course last time they saw each other shit did not go down well. So, yes. This will go well. Especially after he finds her smoking and drinking in a whore house. Erms. Yall. Widow-gone-wild. I'm telling you.

Meme-age! New Pretties and....FALLish Reads!!! Woo!

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

Well I've been slow this week. Household things took over. I'm sitting down to hopefully do some blog visits and do a little reading since it was slow on that front, too. Nothing bad. Just one of those weeks. Eyes are improving (yay), the herd is well, and a friend's wife is doing great after a cancer scare this week. So, yes, life is pretty good.

Tasty Delights-- Golden Grain Stuffed Peppers

Now. This is a recipe I typically wouldn't try. I like bell peppers but I really don't care for them in large chunks like you get with stuffed peppers. Even when I do the normal "stuffed peppers" recipes I do an undone version (so good-- find it here).

But it came in my HelloFresh box and I'm trying to be grown and eat like a grown up. So. Okay. We made it how it called it. lol

And it was fairly good.

Of course if I ever make it again I'm so doing the unstuffed option because, yeah, I ate it but SO much bell pepper in one chunk. lol

4 stars-- Bad Reputation (Bad Boys of Sports #1) by Nicole Edwards

Bad Reputation was totally fun!  Sexy with a side of sweet and a whole lotta lickable hockey player. My catnip, yall. My catnip.

Basically Chase has a thing for his best friend. But he's kept his naughty paws off her for 9 years and she's got him completely friend zoned but that's okay, really, because they're besties and do everything together. And then...Vegas happens.

Yeah.

Yeah. Vegas happened real hard (heh) and nekkid antics...they did happen.

So...Many...Pretties! Yall. Seriously! It's Enough To Make You Whimper #NeedThemNow

I had a fabulous time with Bad Reputation and Lady Charlotte's First Love. You should get them both! lol

Meme-age! I...Have A Plan. *kinda* And New Reads! Woo!

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

A fairly light bookish week. Still trying to get back into the swing of blogging and taking it easy so I don't overdo my eyes. Weather has gotten chilly and all fallish which I love. And gets me motivated to work around the house so I'm all out and about and fiddling on the home front. But there were some books. Oh yes, there were.
