4 stars-- Earl Interrupted (The Daring Marriages #2) by Amanda Forester [QuoteTastic]

Oh my, yall. I loved this book! I've got a real cute quote today.

There's some serious make a girl swoon sweetness happening here. The hero's recovering from a gun shot that nearly killed him and they're walking on the cliffs together. He's not great at the whole woo-ing thing and they'd talked a bit back about why his attempts had failed with other women and she'd given him some advice. Anywho...

"This is for you." He held out his hand, revealing a small, white shell.

Surprised, Emma took the small shell from his hand. It had a light gray, curved outside shell and a glossy, smooth, pink surface within. she looked up at him, wondering its significance. He continued to stare at her with an expectant air, and she wished she understood the meaning of the gesture.

"Thank you."

"It is for you," he explained. "A gift. There are no flowers in January and your guardian is not present so..."

"'Oh! A gift for me?" Emma realized this was his attempt at wooing her and her heart cracked open. "But how did you...? Please do not tell me you walked all the way to the beach to find me a shell." she looked down from the edge of the cliff to the beach below.

"I confess Jonathan assisted me."

"But you should not attempt such a thing. You are still recovering."

"You said the purpose of the gift was not the object but the effort involved in the giving."

"Oh, Dare!"

"Did I do it right?" The earnestness in his eyes made her heart ache.

"Yes, yes, you did it very well. Thank you. I will cherish it always."

Beautiful. Endearing. I loved Earl Interrupted. It's everything historical romance should strive to be and I cannot wait for more from Forester.
The Gist: Dare and Emma have both found themselves dealing with a similar issue-- the need to marry. Simple and straight forward. That is until an unknown danger crosses their paths and brings them into each others lives. With danger and chaos at every turn they may be one another's only chance at finding safety and answers. Eee!
I absolutely loved Dare and Emma. He's all sexy alpha ship captain who gets flustered and nervous with women. And Emma has such strength and character! Even if it comes with a bit of social awkwardness of her own. Dare was so dang adorkable and endearing and I just adored him as he stumbled his way through wooing Emma.

I enjoyed their romance so much. It's slow burning but it just everything. It had me smiling and warmed the heart. I loved watching them both stumble about. Not quite sure of what they were doing but yearning for more and figuring things out bit by bit. They're just so cute and sweet together. There's very little heat, though. Some kissing but nothing more until the very end. But it worked for them and was nice.

Earl Interrupted was just an entertaining jaunt. There's a bit of danger surrounding them. Near misses and curious connections. I enjoyed the backdrop to their romance as they tried to figure everything out-- both concerning the threat to their lives and where matters of the heart were concerned.
Forester has a lovely way of telling a story. It's so very easy to fall in love with her writing and the characters she brings to life on every page.

Captain Robert Ashton, Earl of Darington, knows finding a bride in London will not be easy—not since he has been notoriously dubbed as the "Pirate Earl". What he didn't expect was to get abducted—and to have his escape go horribly awry when an innocent lady gets caught in the crossfire.

Amateur physician Emma St. James is on her way to meet her betrothed when she is rescued by an injured gentleman. Despite her shock after discovering he is the Pirate Earl, Emma feels drawn to the man who saved her life. Duty forces them apart, but when they meet again on the high seas, Darington will risk all—his fortune, his name, and even his life to keep her safe.
