4 stars-- The One You Can't Forget (The Ones Who Got Away #2) by Roni Loren

Goodness. The One You Can't Forget was a fabulous time. Emotionally charged, passionate, tinged with humor and hope. I enjoyed it thoroughly but that's to be expected from Loren. The woman just gives good book.
The Gist: A chance encounter during a mugging changes...everything
Wes and Rebecca have such different lies-- he teaches cooking to at risk teens while rebuilding his life and she's a high priced divorce lawyer shooting for a partnership-- but together they worked and brought out the best in one another. Wes is a good guy. Kind, talented, sexy as all get out and mending a life that had shattered years earlier. And Rebecca. She's sharp but stifled. A fighter you'd want in your corner. But also haunted by the past and something she'd done. They're good people trying to find their way.
"What are you doing here?"

"Making omelets for a catering gig."

She frowned, the words not making any sense. "Did I pass out? Am I dreaming?"

He smirked. "So I show up in your dreams? Good to know. But this can't be a dream. Look, I'm fully clothed."
I really enjoyed them together. Things aren't always perfect and man do they have to get past a hurdle early on that was quite ugly. Yall. I was nervous! But I liked how it played out. How they fed off each other. Both in every day life, their jobs and in the bedroom. Oh yeah! They have a great dynamic and just left a girl smiling.

There is some drama to go with the humor and sexy, though. She was a survivor of a school shooting a decade earlier and it's still impacts her life-- PTSD, shame for her part in the shooting, with her career and how it intersects with his. It was interesting and heartbreaking and really made you feel for both of them.

All in all, The One You Can't Forget...won't be easily forgotten. It's a lovely romance with strong characters you can't help but adore and root for.

Most days Rebecca Lindt feels like an imposter...
The world admires her as a survivor. But that impression would crumble if people knew her secret. She didn't deserve to be the one who got away. But nothing can change the past, so she's thrown herself into her work. She can't dwell if she never slows down.

Wes Garrett is trying to get back on his feet after losing his dream restaurant, his money, and half his damn mind in a vicious divorce. But when he intervenes in a mugging and saves Rebecca―the attorney who helped his ex ruin him―his simple life gets complicated.

Their attraction is inconvenient and neither wants more than a fling. But when Rebecca's secret is put at risk, both discover they could lose everything, including what they never realized they needed: each other.
