[memes] The Concert that Didn't Happen, Bookish Pretties + my week in books

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

Args! This week. It really wasn't so bad overall but ended with some disappointment. I planted a lot, noticed my lettuce and garlic coming up!, worked at the food pantry and did a lot of piddling around the house getting ready for a trip to Georgia for a concert.

Reading went well, too. Some fun reads by new and old authors.

Cleo wound up having a quick vet visit because she was feeling poorly and the vet found an infected tooth and crackly lungs. We think she aspirated some of her previous meds (she's a fighter) so she got a new med. 2 days later she's feeling SO much better, thankfully.

And then the disappointment. We've been planning this day trip to Georgia for the Ed Sheeran concert for over a year. Seriously tickets were bought Oct 2017! And up until last night it was looking like it was gonna happen even though there'd been some blips. Then mom's turtle wound up at the ER with unknown troubles but very sick {eta he unfortunately passed away} And then an hour later one of the herd kitties came in feeling very poorly and covered in diarrhea {he's feeling better}. It's just a mess. Mom said maybe God just really didn't want us to be going to Georgia. So we're putting off seeing each other...yet again. We've seen each other 3 times in 10 years though we've planned probably 15-20 trips. But dang near EVERY TIME some emergency derails it at the last minute. It's crazy. And disappointing since it would have been a fun concert, I would have seen mom and I would have gotten to see a reader friend who was going, too. So I feel bad about bailing on her, too. But it's not the end of the world and herd babies come first. It's just sad after all this time and prep to have it fall through and then to lose a herd baby.

I enjoyed all of my reads this week.

Sweet Spot/Sweet Thing are part of a multi author series that's about a set of friends opening a bakery together. They were super cute and made me want cupcakes. lol

Hell in a Handbasket is part of one of my favorite series/spin off series. It was fantastic even though it made me cry in parts. The heroine has a thing for the county crime boss and I gotta admit I do, too. I love him. It's more mystery than romance though you get little bits of that and the rest of Rose's life mixed into the mystery.

I just started reading Once Upon a Texas Christmas. An actor playboy boss back in his hometown and a thing happening with his employee. He's going to be auctioned off at a charity fundraiser, too. Somehow this is connected to the Justine Davis book I read this last month but I can't figure out how other than same town/world.

I snagged a lot of freebies. I've read My Highland Spy before as an ARC and loved it. Figured a finished copy would be nice.

Bwahaha well not entirely bookish but does fit a number of my favorites lol

Because oh my word. This is the best bookmark. lol

I prefer tea to coffee. Yay! This spoon. It makes me happy.

It's so cute! I like the green one

Question: Do you subscribe to any book subscription boxes?
A: Nope! They look neat but I just can't. The ones with actual books I feel would be wasted on me. Either not the books I want or ones I already own. And for the cost of some of these...nope!
