"Sports" Challenge!

herdingcats&burningsoup
Alright dearlings. I'm going to host my first Reading Challenge!!

We're gonna keep this pretty simple...

~Read books with a hero/heroine that's into sports
~Review the book (on a blog or Goodreads)
~Link those reviews into our linky list each month
~and WIN prizes!!

The deets:
  • If you'd like to join in the goal is to read at least 6 "Sports" Romances in 2013 but you can read as many as you'd like!
  • Everyone's welcome to join! You either need to have a blog or Goodreads account to post your progress/reviews (both are FREE, if you need help setting up let me know)
  • The challenge begins 1/1/2013 and ends 12/31/2013. Yall can join up any time though!
  • There will be a post the 1st of each month here on herding cats & burning soup for you to link your reviews in for the the month.
  • Books can be used in other challenges and ones in other challenges count here too as long as they're sports related!
  • Reviews in languages other than English are fine :)
  • You can participate each month or here and there :) Just have fun with it and stop by when you'd like!
  • Feel free to grab our button and add it to your sign up posts, blogs, reviews, etc
The Books:
  • The books don't have to be all about sports :)
  • Just a hero/heroine that is an athlete
  • Need some ideas?  Check out these Goodreads lists...
  • Can be ebook or print, Novella or full length, stand alone or part of a series, PNR/historical/contemporary, etc.
  • The sports: Auto racing, baseball, football, hockey, soccer, running, biking, etc. They're all fair game :)
Challenge Levels:
  • The Tailgater:          6 books
  • Sports Lover:          12 books
  • The Die-Hard Fan:  26 books
  • Total sports nut!      52+ books

The Prizes:
  • I think we'll do two giveaways with the event. If enough people join in and are linking up maybe a couple more!
  • There will be a 6 month giveaway
  • And a grand prize giveaway at the end!
  • Each valid review you link up will count as an entry in the giveaways!

To Sign Up:
  • Fill out the linky sign up below with your info!
  • Make a post about joining the challenge on your blog (or if you don't have a blog on FB, etc)
  • Let us know you're joining in!!
Got Questions? Let me know?

    1. I'm gonna have to work on my booklist! :) Do re-reads count if we've never posted a review?

    2. Sure! That would be perfectly fine :) I've got a couple of those that'll probably end up on my list too :)

  2. Already I have no idea if have done it right. But I did post a link for the challenge on my facebook. I just don't know if I put the right thing in the linky thing. haha Anyway, I look forward to making the effort on sports featured books. I like them. Just don't usually get to many of them. Looking forward after the madness of the new year. :-) Thanks, Anna!

    1. Woohoo!!! Thanks for joining Lisa! Looks good to me and the links showing up :)

I'm going for 6 books myself (and hopefully will fit a few extras in there). Hopefully it'll get me to finish up a couple of those series I've started and that have gotten away from me the last couple years LOL.

  4. Okay, I'm going to think on this one for a bit. I don't want to sign up then not follow through. You know I've been dipping my toes into new genres but I'm still pretty hard core historical and I somehow don't think Jousting or sword swinging in battle will be a sport, LMAO! I am making a commitment to myself to give one of those books on the Goodreads list a try and if I like it, I will go ahead with this. It all sounds pretty fun. :)

    1. LOL Leah good for you for stepping out of your comfort zone! I'm sure I've said that before but it's just so awesome that you're willing to give it a try :)

Hmmm. I'm wracking my brain trying to think of historicals that would fit. I'm sure there are some out there! Heck what about fencing? If he (or she) is a fencer that would so count! Jousters...hmmm...I think that could even work...maybe...LOL

Hope your first foray into sports romance goes well!! I never thought I'd enjoy them but they won me over real quick :)

  5. oki two questions first: can a book be used for your challenge as well as other ( or only yours)
second: is the review count also in another language or only english book and review^^

( i'm interested but i don't have sport book i can think of but ^^ i saw those for fbi by julie james in the list not sure where the sport is included but i have those on my wish list so perhaps i could manage)

    1. You're good on both counts Miki :) I'll add those both into the post but books can be used in other challenges no prob! And Reviews in other languages totally count!

Hmmm. I've got those FBI ones on my list too! Not sure how they're sporty but I'm guessing one of them plays sports a good bit so works for me if they're on one of those lists :)

      Happy reading!

  6. An interesting challenge since I already have some books with sport theme untouched. My question would be:
    1) Can I used your button on my blog for my reading challenge page?
    2) I have this page about reading challenges I entered on my blog, would that be counted or should I make a special post for this challenge only?

Thanks for hosting the challenge. :)

    2. Great! I've posted it on my blog page. But I guess I sign up using my Goodreads account (at least for now) since most of the time I wrote review on Goodreads more often than on my blog. :D
      Thanks for answering, Anna.
