Brody (Circle Eight #2) by Emma Lang + giveaway

A year after their family was brutally torn apart, the Graham siblings begin to put their lives back together at their ranch in East Texas. With their parents gone, their bonds will truly be tested…

Olivia Graham has worked hard to take care of her family at the Circle Eight Ranch. But their family circle was broken when their young brother Benjy disappeared. Liv can’t shake the feeling that he must be out there, somewhere.

Brody Armstrong, a handsome but rough-around-the-edges Texas Ranger, has been working on their case for months, and now he has a promising lead.

As Liv follows him across the rugged Texas landscape and into Mexico, she’ll begin to find the answers she needs—as Brody finds a passion he didn’t know he wanted…

Emma Lang's Circle Eight series and the Graham family never fail to delight. I'm loving this tight-nit ranching family, their undying spirit, daily battles and the people they surround themselves with. Along with the oh-so-delicious Brody Armstrong, Olivia Graham sets out into the turbulent lands of Mexico in hopes of finding some trace of her baby brother who disappeared months earlier and hasn't been seen since. Lang doesn't hold back on the gritty horrors they encounter or the passions they unleash in each other and gives readers a truly captivating and unforgettable tale.

I was a little skeptical going into Brody because the heroine Olivia was a flat out total bitch in book 1 and that's putting it nicely. And, okay, maybe I hold a grudge and was pretty much hell bent on not liking Olivia after how horrible she was to the heroine in book one but damn if she didn't win me over completely during their harrowing journey. She's by no means an easy woman to love but man does she have heart and a backbone of steel. She's mouthy, never holds her tongue and will do anything, and I mean anything, to protect the people that are important to her. You gotta love a woman like that.
“I'd like a whiskey too." Olivia's husky voice came from beside him.

The barkeep raised his bushy brows, but poured her a shot and slid it to her.

To Brody's utter surprise, she slung it back as though she regularly spent time in taverns.

"Will you never do anything normal?"
Now, Texas Ranger Brody? I so knew he'd be on the swoon-worthy side of things and he didn't disappoint. The man's got some hard unpolished edges but he's honorable, hardworking, determined and sexy as hell. His past and the lonely life he leads as a Ranger really grabbed at my heart strings and made me love him even more. He's one of those men who's not much for words but damn when he gets going it's something else and will give you all kinds of yummy little shivers.

Brody and Olivia were delightful as they reluctantly joined forces and battled an unknown enemy. There's an incredible amount of heat between them and a damn lot of snarky bickering that had me laughing more than once. And the sexual tension between them is just delicious. When these two get together, both in and out of the bedroom, it's explosive and so damn good.

Brody is full of non stop adventure, danger, passion and surprise twists along the way as Brody and Olivia hunt for the truth. I love how the disappearance and mystery surrounding the family's past connects each of the books and that with each one we get a few more answers. With her humor and emotionally charged writing Emma Lang is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can't wait for the next installment, Caleb, to get here! This is definitely a book I'd recommend for anyone who loves western historicals, sassy woman and swoon-worthy heroes.

    1. I haven't read Palmer but have heard good things. Brody and the first book Mathew were fantastic. She also writes another western historical series as Beth Williamson that's a little more erotica. It's fabulous too :)

  3. Hi Anna! I found you :) I haven't read Emma Lang or many (or any that I'm remembering) Western historicals. But, you're making want to read this! But, I have noticed that western or country themed romances (that I've come in contact with) have had titles that were only the hero's name: Caleb, Brody, James, Michael, etc.

    1. Hi Priscilla! I haven't read too many Western historicals either but you're right! All of the ones I have read have been the hero's name. How strange!

  5. I have read her alter ego Beth Williamson. I read lots of historical westerns. In fact I have read all of her Devils On Horseback books. They were awesome. I highly recommend them. I like the snarky couples because it feels more real to me.

  6. I have read Devils on Horseback books as well and truely love them If you have not read them then you truly should You will have to hire a maid however because you won't want to put them down. I love the snarky type. They fuse and then they love and keep you drooling for more. Love a woman with some bite shows true ovams (woman's equal to balls) speak what's on your mind, drink and fight like a man and love like a woman.

    1. Variety's always good. I love a nice mix of the two especially when they start out completely snarky with each other and sweet kind of sneaks up and bites them. Hope you like her Tonya. I've read three now and loved each one more than the last :)

    1. Ya never know. They aren't too cowboyish. More the hard working/dedicated/honorable kind of outlook and less on the actual ranching kind of things. They're great romances too. If you give them a try let me know what you think :)

  13. Hey Anna. Nope I've never read anything by Emma before. And this would be a first for me too I'm just wondering if I'd get lost with this being the 2 in the series. I've read Historical and I LOVE me some Western, but never combined the two. I do love when there is attitude, b/c it seems more real, whereas if its all roses and sunshine it feels a bit hookey, you know. Thanks for doing the giveaway

    2. Emma does a great job easing you into book two and what's going on with the family/situation so I think it could be read pretty easily without picking up book one (Matthew is great too though!)

I so get you. I love the snark and characters that have a bit of attitude. Much easier to believe and relate to :)
