Love on the Line by Kimberly Kincaid

Violet Morgan puts the personal in personal chef, catering to clients who want the full cooking experience rather than a culinary drop-and-dash. But when her brother’s police detective partner is injured in the line of duty and needs help during recovery, she makes an exception. Violet lost her father to the job seven years ago, and worries for her brother’s safety every day. The last thing she wants is to get up-close with her brother’s career-cop partner…again.

For Noah Blackwell, being a detective isn’t just a lifestyle, it’s a legacy. So when he’s forced to take mandatory leave and deal with the trauma amnesia keeping him from identifying his shooter, it’s a literal case of adding insult to injury— and now he’s got to deal with an unwanted culinary caregiver on top of it. Never mind that he and Violet shared a steamy, secret kiss last New Year’s Eve. She rejects everything related to the job, and Noah’s not about to be distracted from recovering his memory and getting back to what he does best. No matter how pretty Violet is.

Despite their differences, Violet and Noah share a surprising bond in the kitchen that grows into something neither of them expect. But as Noah heals and their feelings for each other extend from the kitchen to the bedroom, Violet knows she must make an impossible choice. She may wear her heart on her sleeve when it comes to food, but can she risk it all to put love on the line?

Love on the Line was a very cute read and just what I needed to lift my spirits and make me smile on one of our lovely rainy winter weekends here in North Carolina. It had all of my favorite elements... lovable characters with a complicated connection, passion with just a bit of inner turmoil, humor, love and cooking!

Kimberly's warnings to not read this one when you're hungry are spot on. OMG I drooled over all the yummy cooking and was kicking myself for not having anything delicious in the house to snack on while I read. So stock those pantries before you dive into this one. LOL

Okay. So a few years back my mom came to visit. I'm a vegetarian but we got her fried chicken breasts for dinner one night. Now. My mom is a sucker. Sucker. She spoils her grandkitties rotten and just can't say no to them. They just glance in her direction and she caves! So, we're sitting in the living room eating and she starts breaking off little bits of her chicken to share with the cats. And I go. "Mom, don't do that. They've got their food". Of course mom ignores me and keeps giving out little bits. She stops and is talking with me and then all the sudden Claire stood up on her back two legs, grabbed the entire chicken breast, and took off running. I about died. Claire regretted nothing. ::snort::

April is gonna be a weird month on herding cats!

Alright dearlings. Just wanted to give you a heads up about April and what's going to be going on on the blog.

Topics will be all over the place and kinda random. Last year I blogged about everything from evil cupcakes to turtle penises. So it'll be... interesting :) I've got a yummy kilt post planned and have been doing some very inappropriate things with Peeps for the P post. ::snort:: It's. Awesome. Yall will get to know me a little better this next month. Might be a good thing. Hopefully won't scare yall away. lol

There will hopefully be a number of new faces visiting the blog for the challenge but I wanted to let all of you know ahead of time you are more than welcome to drop by those posts and comment too. I'll still be doing reviews, giveaways, cooking and kitteh posts during the months. Some will link up with the A to Z challenge posts and others won't so it'll be a busy month.

And off to pick my next read. Hope yall are having a fabulous week and are reading something delicious!

Six Naughty Nights by Serenity Woods + giveaway

Six nights to remember, six days to forgive…

Esther is grateful for the strong arms that saved her and her young son from an earthquake. But she wishes their rescuer was someone else. Anyone other than the man who left her pregnant after a holiday fling.

Toby’s carpentry skills take him wherever there’s work, and right now that work is definitely cut out for him. He has to get over the shock that the little boy in his arms is his own son—and convince Esther that he’s always regretted walking away from her.

Esther can’t bring herself to deny Toby his right to get to know Charlie. Besides, with her own home flattened, she has nowhere to go but with him to his apartment…where she discovers a sexy role-playing card game tucked in his suitcase.

When Toby invites her to accompany him to the Northland to attend his best friend’s wedding, the opportunity to explore their still-simmering attraction is too tempting to resist. As the steamy scenarios heat up, they start to realize this is more than a game. But Esther’s hiding a secret that could cause as much devastation as the earthquake...

Product Warnings
Contains role-playing fun including Roman slave and master, sexy schoolgirl spanking, and interrogation of a spy. Silk scarves included.

Type: Contemporary Romance
Heat: 3.5 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Six Naughty Nights was a pretty light read with some delicious sexy times, a bit of humor mixed with emotional drama and turmoil, and characters that are flawed but grow as people throughout their journey and I really enjoyed that combo. Woods created a fun group of men and women that have a bit of a naughty side and aren't afraid to explore it. You gotta love that!

One of my favorite storylines is when the hero and heroine have a bit of history and Toby and Ester have that in spades. Years after a wild vacation fling that didn't end well their paths cross again in the midst of an earthquake and suddenly both their lives are completely upended when he realizes that the little boy with her is the son he never knew about. Holy. Drama.

Wolf with Benefits (Pride #8) by Shelly Laurenston

Ricky Lee has no plans of getting serious about anyone, but he will protect Toni Jean-Louis Parker. Not just because he’s been hired to do so, but because it’s the right thing to do. And if that means traveling around the country with one complicated She-jackal, dealing with chocolate-eating wild dogs, instigating trouble between his brothers, and having the most amazing sex he’s ever had…well, who said his job didn’t have perks?

Toni doesn’t know how she keeps getting herself into these situations. But even she has to admit there’s something about Ricky Lee Reed that she finds kind of interesting…and downright sexy. Now they just have to survive long enough to figure out if what they have is worth fighting for…

Damn, I missed this world! It's silly and light hearted and just hilariously brilliant. And I'm not even the least bit ashamed that when I was handed an advanced copy of it I squealed. Like a girl. Right in the middle of Barnes & Noble. I was so darn excited I dropped everything to dig into Wolf with Benefits and gah, yeah, I loved it.

Spotlight: Mark of the Sylph by Rosalie Lario

Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword. Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.

Tasty Tuesday: Eggplant "Pizza"

This one was posted to my timeline on Facebook the other day and looked simple, quick and, well, yummy. So I figured I'd give it a try tonight. It's originally a recipe from Ragu.

Cover Reveal: Hard As It Gets by Laura Kaye-- It's pretty yummy!

Squee! One of my favorite authors, Laura Kaye, has a new book coming out in November for her series Hard Ink and we're joining in on the cover reveal today.

I can't freaking wait for the book and am digging the cover. Such a nice nipple shot and oooOoo even a little happy trail happening. Love that! Her fingers just barely dipping into his pants are a nice touch too! Yum!

Sounds pretty damn good too! So what do yall think?

Randomly Random: When your vacation starts out at a sex toy shop...

Yes, well that's a new one! Okay, so not the actual going into a, um, toy shop since I've been in one before. But venturing inside one with a paranormal romance and an erotic romance author in tow? Yeah. That was definitely a new experience for this girlie and left her ALL kinds of red. LOL

I'm not quite sure how it happened other than Tes Hilaire (knowing I've ended up in the wrong state...multiple times) listened to my directions and on one of our turn abouts a naughty shop was spotted resulting in a need for penis...straws.
On the way to said naughty shop the next morning we gave CJ Ellisson a ring and of course she came along for the penis straw, dirty card game, creme brule body dust tasting adventure. We might have maybe kinda tried out the clit stimulator gels on our lips too. Maybe. *looks around innocently and whispers* That stuff is freaky! No way it's going near delicate bits!

So that's how my vacation kicked off. Gotta say, it was an excellent and oh so randomly random start to a pretty damn entertaining weekend...

The Thing With Feathers by Anne Sweazy Kulju + giveaway

When an itinerate Baptist preacher arrived with his baby daughter and a wife lost on the trail, there was no one prepared to suspect what lurid secrets and heartbreak he might be concealing. As the preacher sets his sights against those who might oppose him, the names, reputations, even the very lives of the good people of Cloverdale may not be spared.

Yet in the midst of the machinations of a mad man, virtue and valor can persist. The Thing with Feathers is known to fly through wars, depressions, and natural disasters. But will the Marshall clan and the good people of Cloverdale find it in time?

Type: Historical Fiction, 1930s-40s
Heat: 1 out of 5
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

A light easy read this is not. This was my first time reading Sweazy-Kulju and she's an excellent writer. She can weave together a story that will hold you captive but at the same time it's a story that will break your heart.

The story focuses on the life of Sean Marshall as he grows up, marries and falls in love during the 1930s and 40s in Oregon. He's a good, honorable man that does what he believes is right even if it hurts him. The journey he and his family go through over the years is just devastating. Their tale broke my heart and by the time I reached the final page I was just sobbing.

So yesterday was herd baby Gladys' birthday! She turned 5 years old. Whew it's flown by!

I've had Gladys since the day she was born and abandoned with her siblings (without their mom) at one of the local shelters.

She's still a tiny thing, sitting in my lap at this very moment, and rules over us all.
Thought I'd share some of her pictures from growing up and some of the more recent ones for today's post :)

Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan

Warning: This is not a typical love story. This is an all-consuming, soul-crushing, tear-your-heart-into-pieces story. It’s intense, gritty and raw, dark and disturbing, and it doesn’t happen overnight. This is an epic love story that knows no boundaries and has no time limits. It grows and develops—with hurt, sacrifice, and heartache—over the span of a lifetime.

Eva Fox is the princess of the Silver Demons Motorcycle Club. Growing up with bikers in the club lifestyle is all that she knows. When she’s a young girl, Eva meets the reason for her existence. Deuce West is the sexy, biker bad-ass of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. Like Eva, he was born and raised in the club—but that’s where the similarities end. Their first meeting is innocent, but as Eva matures into a woman, their chance reunions evolve into a fit of lust and love. Fate continues to bring them together time and time again, but their twisted journey is filled with pain, betrayal, and bloodshed that could tear them apart. Eva sees in Deuce what he cannot see in himself—a man worthy of love—and Eva spends her lifetime proving to him that her undeniable love is the one thing he can’t live without.

This is Eva and Deuce’s story.

It wasn’t easy.
Nothing worth doing ever is.
And love is worth everything.

Type: Dark Romance?

Fuck me. Yall this book was unlike anything I've ever read before. These are some majorly fucked up people doing some majorly fucked up things and hell if I know what it says about me but I fucking loved it.

Take the warning with this one seriously. This is not a romance for everyone. It's dark and gritty and incredibly twisted. It's not a pretty thing to watch, not even close. You'll hate the characters but at the same time love them in all their incredibly messed up glory. This is one that will push your buttons, make you uncomfortable and if you're like me completely rock your reading world.

** there will be some spoilers for things that I thought merited a warning or two-- just a heads up**

Tasty Tuesday: Veggie & Cheese Stuffed Biscuits

Morning yall! Okay, so just putting this out there. Someone jokingly mentioned making Tasty Tuesday disasters into a meme and I thought, well, sure! I'm thinking of changing tasty tuesday to something along the lines of tasty delights and the occasional disaster. Or some such thing. Everyone is welcome to join in. I'm going to post every Tuesday regardless of what it's called but you're welcome to post once a month, randomly, a couple times a week, whatever. And if you have title suggestions let me know! If there's interest I'll make up a pretty button and we can do a linky each month so we can pop around and check out all the recipes. They can be perfect creations or utter disasters like last month. It's just about having a good time :)

What do yall think?

So, I was going to be all healthy this week and even asked for healthy recipes on the FB page since I just wasn't feeling any of the ones I was finding. Was given some great ideas and went off to the grocery to buy some oh so healthy ingredients only to remember hey it's still pretty much winter and the veggie selection...sucks. Not a Zucchini is sight and I needed zucchini. So instead of coming home and figuring something else up I decided to just wing it and make something random. Thus...cheese and veggie stuffed biscuits!

Byzantine Gold (Dangerous Waters #2) by Chris Karlsen + giveaway

A sunken warship from the Byzantine Era carrying an unusual cargo of gold has been found off the coast of Northern Cyprus. News of the valuable cache has attracted the attention of a terrorist cell. They plan to attack the recovery team’s campsite and steal the artifacts. On the Black Market, the sale of the relics will buy them additional weapons.

Charlotte Dashiell, an American archaeologist, and her lover, Atakan Vadim, a Turkish government agent, are scheduled to be part of the recovery team that brings up the artifacts. While en route to Cyprus, they find themselves caught in the crosshairs of Maksym Tischenko, a Ukrainian contract killer bent on revenge. Charlotte, Atakan and Tischenko share a grim history. As a result, Tischenko is a man who will stop at nothing to achieve his goal—seeing them both dead.

Type: Romantic Thriller
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Some books just grab me right from the start and Byzantine Gold was so one of those books. It's got a little bit of everything. Romance, humor, danger, a fascinating locale in Turkey surrounding a Byzantine Era shipwreck and likable characters that I continued to fall in love with.

This is the second book that centers around Atakan and Charlotte and I really loved that we got to catch up with them and see their relationship continue to grow. There's a lot going on in the story with threats to their lives coming from multiple directions, both new threats and old enemies resurfacing, but it's all pieced together very nicely and kept me turning the pages, or rather tapping them since I was reading on the Nook, as quickly as I could.

Edward Banks has known most of his life that one day Regina Harris was to be his bride--but somebody forgot to inform her...

An avid academic and aspiring scientist, Edward is pleased to find that he won’t have to bother with the nonsense involved in courting a young lady.

Young and naive, it doesn't take much for her social-climbing father to convince Regina the man she's to marry has requested her hand out of love, but devastates her when she learns the truth.

Now, it's up to a man who's more comfortable in a conservatory than a drawing room to prove to Regina that she's more than just the proverbial sacrificial lamb that helped gain her family their foot in Society's door and that he--if no other gentleman--is trustworthy. But he just might be the one doing the learning as he'll be forced to acknowledge that sometimes the most combustible elements aren't the ones you control, but sometimes the ones you don't.

First of all, I'd like to thank Anna for being brave enough to have me on today. We met through a mutual follower (thank you!) about a month or so ago and she offered me a chance to come on her blog before she knew what a loose cannon I was!

I do promise not to scandalize any of you too much, but there are never any guarantees.

Lord of Darkness (Maiden Lane #5) by Elizabeth Hoyt

He lives in the shadows. As the mysterious masked avenger known as the Ghost of St. Giles, Godric St. John's only goal is to protect the innocent of London. Until the night he confronts a fearless young lady pointing a pistol at his head—and realizes she is his wife.

Lady Margaret Reading has vowed to kill the Ghost of St. Giles—the man who murdered her one true love. Returning to London, and to the man she hasn't seen since their wedding day, Margaret does not recognize the man behind the mask. Fierce, commanding, and dangerous, the notorious Ghost of St. Giles is everything she feared he would be—and so much more.

When passion flares, these two intimate strangers can't keep from revealing more of themselves than they had ever planned. But when Margaret learns the truth—that the Ghost is her husband—the game is up and the players must surrender...to the temptation that could destroy them both.

Type: Historical Romance
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Oooo so, so, so many things I liked about this one. It was my first time reading Hoyt and, yeah, she's got a new fan. She had me right from the start with a bit of action and what turned out to be a marriage of connivence which, hello, one of my favorite set ups! The hitch in this one? Well, they're "married" but they haven't laid eyes on each other in the 2 years since their wedding day until one night on a dark road the chit holds him up at gun point. Talk about a dramatic reunion! lol

Cover Reveal: The Replacement by Rachael Wade

We've got a cover reveal for yall today and damn it sounds interesting to me. I'm loving the cover too. It's sexy and has some grit to it. From the blurb it sounds like it's pretty fitting too! If you've read Rachael before in her own words this is "a dark, gritty drama" that's completely different from anything she's written before and isn't a romance.

Alright kittens. So what do you think? Sexy? A little too much?

Does it sound like one you'd give a read?

Spotlight: Cheers by Vallory Vance + giveaway

We've got a quick little spotlight/giveaway for yall today. It's a short story but I think it sounds kinda interesting. It's also an interracial romance which isn't something I've seen all that often during my reading. I'm liking that the couple on the cover actually looks like it too! Sounds like it could be a sexy little read!

As a successful Sales and Catering Manager for the posh Hayden Court Hotel located in New Orleans’ famed French Quarter, Darcey St. Claire is absolutely thrilled to be working on New Year’s Eve.  The commission and bonus, she’ll receive from the two day Guidry Construction event will not only fund her spring trip to New York City, but buy a cute pair of shoes for the plane ride!

Her enthusiasm quickly turns to barely disguised irritation when Vincent Guidry arrives hours early for his scheduled check-in demanding access to his suite.  After he slashes the budget for the event, not even the crystal blue eyes of the former quarterback can quell the anger surging in her chest. That is until he walks into the Chat Noir where she is trying to regroup after her irksome day.

In the private enclave known as the Cristal Room, Vincent willingly lights up Darcey’s New Year’s Eve and just may have lost his heart in the process.

A sexy, short story introducing the characters of the upcoming Rose Gold Collection.
