I Dream Of Danger (Ghost Ops #2) by Lisa Marie Rice

They are the Ghost Ops: a covert squad of super-elite soldiers. After their team was betrayed and massacred, the three surviving members went underground and built Haven, a community of misfits and geniuses. Now they're at a crossroads, facing a new threat capable of destroying everything they hold dear.

When Nick Ross disappears from Elle Thomason's life, she is certain she'll never see the man she loves again—except in her dreams.

Ten years later, as a respected researcher breaking new ground in psychic phenomena, she sends a desperate call for Nick's help. One by one, her colleagues have started disappearing . . . and Elle knows she's next. An elite soldier, Nick never meant to hurt Elle, duty kept him away—and then she vanished. Now troubled by unusually vivid, disturbing dreams of Elle in danger, Nick will rescue the only woman he's ever wanted and bring her back with him to Haven. Though powerful men are after Elle and her special abilities, Nick will die before leaving her side again.

Type: Contemporary Romance/Slight Paranormal-psychic abilities
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Sexy ex-special ops alphas on the run from the government, a second chance at love, a touch of paranormal and suspense added to the mix? Damn, but I Dream of Danger was a lot of fun. It was just a fantastic combination of elements that kept me entertained and excited from start to finish.

Nick and Elle are both interesting individuals and such survivors. They've each gone through their own personal hells over the years--the military betrayal that made him a fugitive, her struggles with caring for and losing her father and fate tearing them apart more than once-- but fought and pulled themselves through no matter how hard it was.

They've been apart for years and let me tell you their reunion was anything but dull and boring. On the run and in danger Elle manages to tap into her telepathic abilities at the last second and send a frantic plea for help to Nick. The fear and panic on both of their ends was stunningly palpable and had me on edge. I really enjoyed these two and seeing them together. The steamy bits, the trials they went through, how time apart changed them both but didn't dim the spark and chemistry between them.

The story moved quick, kept me engaged the whole time and fit the characters. I did have a couple very minor complaints--a bit of repetition now and again and some timeline blips--but they really didn't detract from the overall storyline too much.

Overall, Rice has a fantastic style and my first little taste of her writing made me an instant fan. She had me squirming, had me anxious and had my heart pounding more than once as they race to save Elle and then find a new life together. Some of the storyline is a little out there since it's set slightly in the future and has some paranormal psychic abilities mixed in so it's not for everyone but it definitely worked for me.
