4 stars! Sweet Revenge ( Sins Brothers #2) by Rebecca Zanetti

Matt Dean was born to fight…and kill. A member of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be the perfect soldiers with an expiration date. Now, with time running out, he's gone rogue in a relentless quest for the one person who can save them. His mission leads him to Charmed, Idaho…and to a beautiful woman with eyes like emeralds and a body made for pleasure.

Laney Jacobs knows the mysterious, handsome stranger is trouble from the moment he walks into her bar, looking for a job. She's spent years running from her own past—the last thing she needs is a romantic entanglement. But Matt's strong arms offer her protection, and his gentle touch promises passion unlike anything she's ever known. As lethal forces surround them, revealing explosive secrets about Matt's past and putting everything—and everyone—he holds dear in danger, can he save them all before time runs out?

Girly effing squeal. This book was fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat, had my jaw drop open more than once-- because Zanetti totally blew my fucking mind with a couple twists and turns I never saw coming--and just had a blast as Matt hunted down the woman involved in the horrors of his past and fell for a wee little bartender in the process.

The gist is that Matt and his brothers have escaped the people who created them (they were genetically engineered as a government project) but even with their escape their lives are at risk because of a "kill switch" the scientists had implanted. They've got mere weeks to hunt down the doctors that created it and force them to deactivate the chips. Holy. Crap.

The guys... I just love Matt and his brothers. These guys are fucking fierce. They're killing machines, they've had hard lives, are trained to kill and are just badass and smart as hell. And they have a thing for soft, innocent, warm women since they've never had any of that in their lives. So, they can come off as cavemen now and again but damn it's endearing and sexy and just makes me smile over them and how fierce they are about protecting what's theirs. They have an incredible bond too.
[Matt's just arrived, is helping out at the bar and is flirting with customers...]

"If I have to tell you again to knock it off, you're fired."

The little spitfire had better be careful who she threatened. "So you want me unavailable to those women?"

Satisfaction filled her pretty face. "Exactly."

"Okay." He grasped her hip and covered her mouth with his. The kiss was hard, quick, and enough of a taste to make him crave more. He lifted away to gauge the shock on her face. "There. Now they think I'm taken."

The air vibrated as her hand closed into a fist, and he shook his head. "You don't want to hit me."

"Why not?" she ground out.

For the first time, he let his mask slip so she could see the predator the government had created. "The second you make contact, I'll have you on that bar, held tight, my cock pressed between your legs, my lips on your until you beg for more. Even fully clothed, I may make you come--and I won't care who's watching."
Alright so Matt and Laney. They were great together. They're both hiding things about their pasts and where they come from and they're both fighting hard for new lives that are safe from the people hunting them. They were nicely paired and the chemistry between them right from the start when she found him injured in her bar's ally was amazing.

Matt can be pretty, erm, demanding and have the whole alpha male you'll do what I say bit going on but Laney's no delicate flower and totally gives it right back at him. It made for some nice steamy scenes too. And just a fun romance to see their battles of will. Laney's also just a good person and easily had me falling for her as she took care of the people around her who needed an extra hand.
"Matt, please--"

"No, baby. You'll beg when you're on your knees. Later." His mouth found the sensitive spot beneath her ear in a full assault demanding her compliance. Her surrender.

His words permeated the fog in her brain even as she tilted her neck to grant better access. "I. Won't. Be.
On. My. Knees." She panted the words out.

The male chuckle at her ear almost threw her into an instant orgasm. "You know not to challenge me."
All in all, Sweet Revenge was an excellent addition to the Sins Brothers series and once again proved Zanetti is a master at crafting an exciting romance. It was entertaining, funny, sweet and spicy too. And the suspense of Matt and his brothers hunting their creators and a killer who has set his sites on Laney  and it was an intense ride. It could be harsh and bloody but it kept me engaged and biting my lip waiting to see what would happen next.
