4 stars-- Trouble Walks In (The McGuire Brothers #2) by Sara Humphreys

I finally read a Sara Humphreys!!! I've been having a lust-fest over her covers for ages and damn! I'm real sad I haven't managed to read any of them before now. Trouble Walks In was fantastic!

The quick of it is that female realtors are being targeted and it's got Ronan all in a dither because his childhood crush and current friend just so happens to be one of the top agents in the city. Thankfully an out of town wedding provides the perfect excuse to get her safe and hopefully spark up something more than just friendship between them. Win-win as far as he's concerned...

Ronan. Ronan. Ronan. I would totally lick me some Ronan. He's sexy, playful, a bit cocky, totally sweet. His best friend is the cutest bloodhound who is his K9 partner. He's just a good guy that makes it impossible not to love him. Yeah. I was loving me some Ronan. And his dog. I just. oh my gosh. I want a bloodhound now, please!

And Maddy was a great heroine as well. Fiery, a little stubborn, confident in her abilities at work but struggling a little on the personal front. She's got a lot of sadness in her after losing a long time companion but I liked seeing her slowly get her fun back and start living again.
"If you don't behave and stay off this ankle, you won't get your ice cream. As fate would have it, you just happen to have my favorite flavor, and I might go in there and eat it all up."

"Lots of people like mint chip," Maddy said quickly. "Besides, you're not the boss of me. It's my life, Officer McGuire, and I'll have ice cream for dinner if I want to. So there."
I loved them together. Swoony and steamy in all the right places. He'd been smitten with her since they were kids and now that she's living in his city they've become friends and running partners. Their friendship slipping into naughty/flirty territory was fun to watch though somewhat slow going.

There's a little suspense that's more of a background thread since they aren't directly involved with the case of the realtors being attacked. It's not his case and while she knew the victims they weren't close friends. It added a nice bit of potential danger and frustration in the background.

All in all, Trouble Walks In was a damn good time. This was a decent sized book and I flew through the thing. 300+ pages in less than a day. I kept sneaking in to read another chapter. And then another chapter. lol Humphreys has some serious skills that pulled me into the story and held me captive.Nicely done! Sexy smart characters, cute dogs, a little suspense and a lot of delicious tension? Yep. This one was a winner. Next, please!

Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job - but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else. Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.

Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.
