[Memes] Characters I Loved in Books I Hated + My Current Reads

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

So. It was a long week, yall. There are a lot of good stuff. I got a lot of blogging done during the first week of Blog Ahead and for the first time in probably 8 months I'm actually caught up with return blog visits! I thought that would never happen. lol

And then Thursday was spent with a kitty emergency. I woke up to Cleo (my senior girl) having what we thought was a severe asthma attack. She's stable at the e-vet on oxygen but they're concerned it might actually be a tumor pushing on her trachea. We did discover something crazy. Her heart isn't where it's supposed to be. It's wedged up at the top of her chest instead of between her lungs. It was the first time they'd ever seen that. That doesn't seem to be giving her trouble at least but the doctor found it very interesting. So we're waiting for some consults and then to talk to our regular vet to see what our next steps are. She's comfortable, breathing fine and eating okay as long as she's in the oxygen tank so a blessing there. She's even been purring for them. She really is a good girl.

I managed 3 reads this week. Lost and Found Sisters and Accidentally in Love with the Biker were okay reads. 3.5 stars-ish. Smiling Irish was wonderful.

Honestly I'm just binge reading Regnery right now. And I'm okay with that.
I'm about 25% in and so far it's good but dicey. These two have accidentally rented the same cabin. Not a huge thing except for he broke her heart 9 years earlier and they're both still stuck on that relationship. And both having writers block so they're already a spot growly lol

*this one has been retitled since I bought it to After We Break

Just Smiling Irish and it's already read. Review will be finished today hopefully.

Jonquils for Jax by Katy Regnery (4 stars)
Bad Business by Nicole Edwards (4 stars)
Accidentally Hers by Jamie Beck (2 stars)

Sometimes you just need a simple spread.

Top Six: Characters I Liked That Were In Books I Hated

Oh lordy. Okay here we go...

1star-- I loved Jace. He's a stand up guy down to his well worn in cowboy boots. Hard working, caring, there for his family. He's got that cowboy swagger. Rides bulls, saves cows, tends to kittens. I adored his character. He's just an amazing guy. The heroine, though, I wanted to die by freak horse crush-age.

DNF-- The hero himself was seriously hot. Climb him like a tree hot and a good guy to boot. Vane can write an amazing hero. The heroine I hated. Hateful activist who was anti-military (hero was military) and just a bitch.

1 star-- Andrew was a good guy. He's sexy, goes with the flow with a little aggressive edge. He's an easy guy to like. The heroine, though. A complete moron and obnoxious. I did NOT like being in her head.

1.5 stars- This was hard. It's a novella that falls mid-series but actually took place multiple years before the series happened. The heroine from the previous book (to a different hero) spends the summer fucking the hero from book 4 who was in love with her at the time and is all about how she broke his heart. It made me HATE the heroine I'd previously loved because of what she had done to one of her best friends. I was so mad over this one. It was pointless.

2 stars-- Grey is amazing guy. Honest, kind, considerate. He was a victim of the heroine's brother and did everything he could to find middle ground so no one was hurt anymore. He was WAY better people than the heroine and her family who constantly tried to pass the buck and get someone else to take responsibility for her brother driving drunk and hitting the hero.

2 stars-- The town in this one. Yall. I really like this town and the fact they LOVE their cats and dang near worship them. Everyone caters to their kitties and the store kitties and that just makes me smile. But the writing was mediocre and repetitive and there was some ridiculousness with the romance.

So. Yeah. I have trouble with heroines. ::snort:: I swear 9 out of 10 times if I'm gonna have trouble with a book it's the dang heroine and I just want a horse to fall on her so I can be done with her. Mmhm

Question: How many book clubs do you belong to?
A: I'm in one real life book club. We meet once a month at a local B&N. We do dinner at one of the restaurants nearby before hand then move to B&N to chat. There's 20 some in the club but usually only around 10/12 show up each month. It's a VERY laid back group. Usually half of us haven't read the book or finished it. lol But we get together and chat books and tv and just to have some time with other bookish people.
