The Gist: Someone is intent on being a Grinch. The ladies in town are receiving nasty letters accusing them of all kinds of things and two of those ladies, well, they wind up dead. Even worse? One of Lucy's good friends is being accused of the murders.
I enjoy Lucy. She's hardy stock. A recent addition to the town after she purchased her grandmother's old farm she's still getting the swing of farm life and trying to find a way to make a living off of the items it produces. I like seeing her on the farm and figuring things out. She's crafty and resourceful.
There's a tiny bit of romance though it takes a distant second seat to the mystery. I hope that'll play a bit more into the next one.
And the mystery was nicely done. Full of interesting elements and not completely easy to guess. I liked watching it play out and seeing Lucy and those around her figure out the pieces of several different issues that pop up.
Teri Clark Linden is one of my favorites. She did a fantastic job with a ton of characters (main and secondary town folk) and kept things flowing nicely. I listened at 1.25 speed.
Overall, a fantastic read/listen. It was easy to fall into the story and time quickly passed. With an easy narration and interesting mystery Fatal Frost was time well spent.
Lucy Resnick’s nerves are as tight as a tea cozy. What she finds is a patchwork of clues—an injured puppy, a sapphire necklace gone missing, and a string of poison-pen letters—that draws her deep into a web of small-town secrets.
Word travels fast in Buttercup. When the killer learns Lucy’s on the trail, Lucy finds she needs more than her reporting skills to save her friend—she needs a Christmas miracle.
