The pizza guy delivered two medium cheeses, one large pepperoni, and a cat. >.>

To be more exact, the cat (neutered) had been so hungry he followed the smell of pizza right into the apartment. Skinny as a rail, with a collar line where his collar hadn't been adjusted as he'd gotten bigger, super friendly. So we fed him tuna and sent him home to my roommate's vet tech mother (the apartment didn't allow pets), and after I moved out I adopted him. Although we thought he was full-grown when he wandered in, he kept growing, and is now a very large, very handsome, very healthy and happy cat.

I later adopted him a friend to keep him company at a no-kill shelter. She's an absolute lap kitty and sweet as button--and now toothless due to habitual bad teeth. He considers her his squeaky toy, but she really just wants to cuddle.

Speaking of rescues, my friend's a vet tech who often finds herself nose-to-whiskers with animals in terrible situations. She fosters one or two at a time, which is pretty much as many as the house can hold, and just started a blog to help them get adopted--NC people, if you want a pet, look up "Happy Tails for Life" run by Nyssa Mehana!Rebekkah Nileshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06684711663696588263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9071306572651203668.post-63974900269492067332013-02-18T00:26:44.597-05:002013-02-18T00:26:44.597-05:00Aw Miki I'm glad you were there for all of the...Aw Miki I'm glad you were there for all of them. They took him in and healed him, but due to having 3 other cats who already did not get along well, they HAD to find him a home. He spent almost a month with them, living in a cage so the other cats couldn't hurt him. I saw her post on a Fri night, that if not homed by the weekend he would go to a shelter on Monday. I had him by Sunday :) He was still sooo tiny. It amazeds me how much he has grown in the 4 months I've had him..he's HUGE! So sweet and loving and gets along great with my dogs.

Zebbie, on the other hand, does NOT like the dogs...or Tweak, for that matter. One of the sweetest cats I've ever rescued as an adult rescue, but very freaish around any other animals. He was found living in the crawl-space under my work, and my boss gave him a week while we fed him and loved on him every day. She dad a poster and put his pic on facebook for the township page, but nobody claimed him. She said he had to go to a shelter after the weekend, so he came home with me that night. He lives in my laundry closet during the day with his own food and water, and comes out at night when Tweak and the dogs are sleeping or in the early morning when the dogs are at the park and Tweak goes outside. His choice..the door is open partway. He has a bed on the dryer and gets attention anytime someone goes in the bathroom lol.Bettyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14386312273614685238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9071306572651203668.post-66696884884573189792013-02-14T20:33:15.670-05:002013-02-14T20:33:15.670-05:00This is a great post. Well my brother had her first, but then he used to be away all the time, so instead of just going over to feed her, we brought her back to our house and then we didn't want her to go home.
My parents got their kitty as a rescue kitty through the local vet. She let him eat her dog food and drink her water. It was the cutest thing to watch this herding breed with a tiny kitten. My neighbor is elderly and doesn't get out in her yard much so she didn't know about the kitten. As soon as I saw it I picked up some kitten food and started feeding and getting it used to me. It took a while but the kitten would try and follow the neighbor dog when I took her walking. He would follow the dog into my yard when I brought her over for playtime with my Great Dane. Both dogs love the kitten. When he finally let me pick him up and I found out he was a "him" I named him Max. Soon he started following me because I'm the food giver and moved into my yard. Next thing I know is he's following my dog in the house when we got back from our early morning run. Now he's an indoor/outdoor (when he wants) cat. It didn't take him long to figure out how to go in and out the dog door! He loves hanging out with the dogs and lays around on their floor pillow with them. All 3 of our Danes are rescues also. My husband and I decided that since children were not in our future we would adopt rescue animals. We've had several cats, dogs, and even a couple of ferrets over the past 30 years.Susan W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14390033302049378173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9071306572651203668.post-74185804448801778012013-02-14T12:34:12.947-05:002013-02-14T12:34:12.947-05:00Meant to say a lady threw him outside to fend for ...Meant to say a lady threw him outside to fend for his self.katsrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13071353967222221634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9071306572651203668.post-64175699714367679982013-02-14T12:33:08.880-05:002013-02-14T12:33:08.880-05:00Aww they are so adorable. My daughter brought him to my house. He's a big boy-16lbs and has cronic colds which the vet and I are trying to get him more healthy. And Tubby kept coming around. Toke him in. Thought he was small kitten. He was covered in fleas and so dirty and hungry. Real friendly. When he went to the vet she thought he was more like 7 months old. He was so tiny. Now he healthy and spayed. Lives indoors. He's sassy too. If you scold him he scolds right back. LOL. Had to get more toys and such as in the mornings he goes through his wild streak. Funny boy. My 3 others(Cashew,Garfield,Squeaky)I got from people who had kittens. Back then when I got them I really didn't know about all the unwanted kitties in shelters.
Sue Bkatsrushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13071353967222221634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9071306572651203668.post-89584924242370689702013-02-14T11:20:01.227-05:002013-02-14T11:20:01.227-05:00First of all, I'm glad you had a great trip an...First of all, I'm glad you had a great trip and are home safe. =O)

Secondly, I commend you on your rescue efforts.
