1.5 stars-- Dark Moon (Spirit Wild #3) by Kate Douglas

Oh my word. It's not often it happens but I was seriously yelling at my book "Okay! OKAY! Yall need to stop fucking. Stop it! Put that cock down! You've had enough! How can you even walk? Aren't you chaffing?! Just...stop with the cocks!"

There was so much sex.

The House on Main Street (Apple Valley #1) by Shirlee McCoy

I am such a sucker for a pretty house and a winter wonderland. Basically, The House on Main Street was all OMG Anna! You neeeeed me!
The Gist: Tessa's found herself back in her small hometown--the last place she wants to be-- caring for her young nephew after her sister's death and cleaning up all of the messes she left behind. Not to mention coming face to face with her childhood crush? Well. It's a lot for a girl to handle on a good day.

3.5 stars-- Instant Attraction (Wilder #1) by Jill Shalvis

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Jill Shalvis! Yay! I've been binge reading her backlist this year and that included trying the Wilder siblings who own an outdoor adventure business.

This gave me a laugh. Damn, indeed!

3 stars-- Instant Temptation (Wilder #3) by Jill Shalvis

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Overall I enjoyed Instant Temptation! But, I did have some issues with a couple scenes that were really inappropriate.
The Gist: Well. Harley and TJ have some sparks. And some irritation with one another. Something he don't understand the source of. But he's going to find out even if he has to invite himself along on a multi day hike she's taking for work. They're gonna settle this. Even if they have to get nekkid to do so. Mmhm.

4 stars-- Kentucky Home (Southern Comfort #1) by Sarah Title

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I've been having fun trying new authors and Sarah Title caught my eye. I'm glad, too. Kentucky Home hit the spot!
The Gist: Mallory needed to escape an abusive husband so her friend Lucas decided to take her home to his family in Kentucky. They'd pretend to be engaged and she could stay safe with his family and regroup. Problem is? Well, she kind of falls for his growly older brother Keith in the mean time. Oops!

4 stars-- Home Sweet Home (Southern Comfort #2) by Sarah Title

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Sooo the hero and heroine. They've got a bit of an antagonistic relationship going on. The town has just been hit by a severe storm and he's come by in the midst of it to board up her windows. This little bit made me laugh.

4 stars-- More or Less a Marchioness (The Somerset Sisters #1) by Anna Bradley

Oh my goodness. These two were a delightful handful!
The Gist: The hero done fucked up. Fucked up right good. And found himself jilted. Not once. But twice. By the same girl! And man that'll get under a guy's skin. It sure will. He's gonna have to do something about it, too. To protect her from ruin, of course. Nothing else. He's absolutely not falling in love with the chit. No, ma'am!

2 stars-- Wicked Ride (Realm Enforcers #1) by Rebecca Zanetti

I love Zanetti but, yall, Wicked Ride was a struggle. A 2+ year struggle and I'm the odd girl out but this one just didn't work for me despite my love for Zanetti's books.
The Gist: There's a new drug on the streets that's literally burning people from the inside out and both Alexandra-- a cop-- and Kell-- a witch enforcer-- are bound and determined to find the supplier and get it off the street. If the other would just stay out of their damn way so they could do their jobs.

4 stars-- No Other Highlander (The McKennas, #2) by Adrienne Basso

It's been a while since I read Basso and goodness I missed her writing! Rich and compelling. There's an almost magical quality to Basso's writing that pulls you in and makes you feel like you're right there with the characters.

So. No Other Highlander. Basically Malcolm has been accused by another clan of sullying one of their lasses and being her baby daddy. And he's all...um, no. Which leads to a huge gathering of clans to make sure justice is found. And where he finds the most unlikely of allies...the prickly Joan who belongs to the mediating clan and is dead set on never marrying again but manages to walk herself right into one with the now cleared coulda been a baby-daddy highlander.

Woohoo! A new to me author and it was so fun! Today At Any Cost by Mandy Baxter. A semi-rogue US Marshal on leave and being just a mite naughty. I just loved how...accommodating they were to each other. lol

4 stars--Dragon on Top (Dragon Kin 0.4) by G.A. Aiken

paranormal, romance, dragons, shifters, g.a. aiken, shelly laurenston
Cocky, arrogant, snarky, blood-thirsty bastards! Gah, how I missed them! Dragon on Top was everything I love about the Dragon Kin. Action, adventure, some good lovin' and all with a gloriously snarky bite.

The quick of it is that Bram needs to visit another dragon sect to get a stack of paper signed and his queen has decided he needs a keeper for his trip and has tasked Ghlenna--one of her Captains--with making sure he gets there and back with all scales intact. Only problem? He's been totally in love with her since they were kids and she...pretty much has no idea he even exists. lol

Fire Me Up (Pine Mountain #4) by Kimberly Kincaid (@KensingtonBooks)

Teagan O’Malley can handle a crisis. She’s a paramedic, it’s her job. But she never expected to land in the kitchen of her father’s pub, with no notice, no cash, and no room for error. The kitchen is not her favorite place. Lucky for her, she just scraped a bad-boy chef off the pavement after a motorcycle accident—and something about him says he can turn up the heat in more ways than one.

Adrian Holt has had a rough few years, and he’s not eager to get tangled up in anything more complicated than a good risotto. But with a broken arm and a head full of bad memories, he needs a challenge to keep him sane. Teagan’s dare-me attitude and smoldering mess of a bar are just what the doctor ordered. And the two of them together might cook up some even better medicine…

How do you cement the title of Queen of Foodie Romance? Make a vegetarian pant over the luscious descriptions of a pulled pork sandwich and have her seriously considering renouncing her ways. 17 years and Kincaid has me going...omg I so want one! over a pork sandwich *hangs head in veggie girl shame* lol Fire Me Up was a foodie romance lover's wet dream as a motorcycle accident lands Adrian with a little time on his hands and making his way into the kitchen of the woman who came to his rescue at the accident site.

Tall, Dark and Royal (The Renegade Royals #2.5) by Vanessa Kelly

Magnificent and stubborn. Fourteen years apart had not changed Chloe Steele, or Dominic’s love for her. He’d been a street urchin, a boy raised at court, and finally a magistrate, yet he’d never belonged anywhere—except by her side. Now Chloe devoted herself to girls threatened by scandal—like she had been. But she was in danger, and Dominic was determined to help—and hopefully make up for lost time…

Even in childhood, Dominic had made Chloe feel safe. Now she also felt thrillingly flustered by the powerful man he’d become, and by the longing he inspired. Because Dominic meant not only to protect her, but to untangle the lies that had separated them. Yet for Chloe, surrendering to temptation may be easier than risking a future that could ruin them both…

Tall, Dark and Royal was one of those lovely little in-between reads when you just need an extra taste of a series while you wait for the next full length story. Fabulous characters, sweet romance, a tiny touch of danger...yups good times though one I think will be easier for those who have read the rest of the series.

Bride Of A Scottish Warrior by Adrienne Basso

Newly knighted Sir Ewan Gilroy needs a dowry and a wife, in that order. Though the widowed Lady Grace plans to enter a convent, squandering so much lush beauty - and such a fortune - would surely be its own sin. Grace will not be easily wooed, despite her family's urging and Ewan's famed charm. She challenges him as no woman ever dared, proving his equal in spirit and in passions...

To atone for her past, Grace vows to never remarry - least of all a brash and reckless warrior. Yet whether defending her honor or stoking desires she hardly knew she possessed, Ewan is a man beyond compare. And as their fragile trust is threatened by treachery, Grace must decide whether to reach for the happiness within her grasp - and fight for the love of her bold Highlander...

Well I am just adoring Basso and the amazing romances she creates. Bride of a Scottish Warrior is the second one I've read from her and, seriously, she has me smitten. She's a wonderful storyteller that really wraps you up in her world and transports you to another time--in this case the Scottish Highlands of the 1300s. It's just a fabulous experience.

The quick of it is that Grace and Ewan have met during his quest for a wife. Something Grace has vowed she'll never be again after the tragic death of her husband. But circumstances, family and life may just have different plans for her.

Bite Me (Pride #9) by Shelly Laurenston

"A killer shifter romance that's non-stop fun, totally crazy and absolutely entertaining." ~herding cats & burning soup
Livy Kowalski has no time for idiots. When you shapeshift into a honey badger, getting through life’s irritants is a finely honed skill. Until she gets stuck housing her nutso cousin and dealing with her dad’s untimely and unexplained demise.

That’s where Vic Barinov comes in—or his house does. Vic can’t step outside without coming back to find Livy devouring his honey stash and getting the TV remote sticky. It gets his animal instincts all riled up. But he’ll have to woo her at high speed: all hell is breaking loose, and Livy is leading the charge…

Ahhh Shelly Laurenston. The woman knows how to write a killer shifter romance that's non-stop fun, totally crazy and absolutely entertaining. I had such a good time Livy and Vic. They're a riot and just perfect together in that wonderfully weird way Laurenston has of mixing personalities and species. This time...a honey badger and a tiger bear. Heh. Gotta love it.

Mini Reviews-- A Gentleman Seduced by Sharon Page & Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard by Vanessa Kelly

Doing a couple mini-reviews today for two historicals I've read recently. One erotica--A Gentleman Seduced and one mainstream--Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard. Both were pretty entertaining...

A Gentleman Seduced by Sharon Page
Lucien Northcote, Viscount Pembroke has seen everything and done everything. Years of experimentation and decadence have left him seeking more and more extreme pleasures to find his satisfaction.

The last thing he expected was to be bewitched by an innocent. But there is just something about the masked figure watching the carnal games at Madam Ivory’s from the shadows. Her keen interest belies her maidenly blushes, and he wants nothing more than to rip the mask from this mysterious beauty, along with the rest of her clothing.

Unsure of his reception, Jack Lennox adopts the guise of his own secretary upon returning to his ancestral home to claim his father's earldom. When he arrives, he's stunned to discover the previous earl's lovely young widow, a woman of beguiling curves and sensual smiles, warming the bed...

Mary Lennox is determined to remain in Pinchbeck Hall and a mere secretary isn't going to tell her otherwise. But Jack Smith is a man of many talents and soon she's succumbing to his erotic games of pleasure. Only Mary may have underestimated the intensity of her wanton longings and the depths of Jack's dark desires...

Well. The Sinners Club...was quite the surprise. A fun one. But, damn, a surprise. Starting with...a lot of male on male sex. *blinks* Yeah. I, uh, didn't see that coming. LOL Really nothing was as I expected with this one other than it being one hell of a steamy and entertaining read. The characters were charming and damaged, the romance...rather peculiar but intriguing and the storyline filled with twists and curiosities. Which was all just excellent.

The quick of it is that Jack has found out he's to inherit a title. Only when he arrives he finds the former earl's wife...pregnant with a potential heir. And his dreams of having a home of his own kind of crash down around him. But all is not as it seems on either side.

Dark Wolf (Spirit Wild #1) by Kate Douglas

Sebastian Xenakis is still coming into his power as a wizard. He can shapeshift by magical means and runs as a wolf using the power he draws from the elements. But young women are dying—raped by a human and then slaughtered by a wolf. Suspicion falls on the shapeshifting Chanku, but Sebastian wonders if he might somehow be guilty of the crimes.

Then he meets Lily Cheval, the uncrowned princess of the powerful Chanku, and realizes he will do whatever it takes to clear his name and win her love. But evil walks where Sebastian goes, and there are mysteries neither Lily nor her father, the powerful wizard, Anton Cheval, cannot unravel. Is Sebastian the perfect mate for Lily, or is he instead, one she should fear?

Shifted Shifter Sex. Mmmhmm. Gotta hand it to Douglas. She is a unique one. LOL Dark Wolf is a spin off of her Wolf Tales series-- focusing on the next generation of Chanku which are shifters-- and it was a fun one. The characters are entertaining, the world creative and interesting and the sex. Well it's pretty damn good too.
