[memes] Hidden Gems! + My Week in Books

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

Home

  • USO and food pantry were good as usual. Only us girls at the USO this week as one of the guys was on vacation and the other still recovering from a heart attack (he's doing great, though!)
  • I've been doing little projects around the house. It's getting there little by little. Started tackling a new flower bed yesterday and hoping to get it done by next week (yes I'm slow!) lol
  • The herd is hanging in there. Sid has me nervous and I'm thinking her surgery is going to have to happen soon. But she's "okay" more or less.
  • I'm enjoying my Year 36. I've decided this year I'm going to try to do something every day. New or specific. Probably won't make every day but so far I've tried some new stores, explored downtown, visited the USO, and the airport observation park! Check it all out HERE!
Blog

  • It's been weird. I've not done an actual blog post in like a month and a half I think now. Just not felt like blogging. Thank goodness for already finished posts!
  • Blog Ahead starts in a month and I need it bad, I think.
  • I'm finally doing blog visits! I'm like 2 weeks behind so if I comment bomb you...sorry! lol

It was a really slow reading week. It's actually been 2 weeks and I've finished...one book. Yikes! Finished A Nice Day for a Cowboy Wedding. It was a nice read overall.

Listening to Minutes to Kill. Good narration and mystery so far. And reading The Christmas Joy Ride which is fun. Two neighbors (One 30ish, one 80ish) traveling Route 66 spreading Christmas cheer. I couldn't resist the cover.

What Have You Done was my Prime freebie. Eh. They don't have the best selection.

Top Ten: Hidden Gems

A few reads that were amazing but so rarely talked about...

Twenty Eight and a Half Wishes-- fantastic mystery with a sheltered heroine who has visions and is breaking out of her shell
The Drifter -- Arizona in the 1880s, gritty, slow burning and amazing.
Falling for Tender Heart-- light and fun. The heroines are hunting a lost book manuscript from their favorite author who died decades earlier.

Cowboy SEAL Homecoming-- I love her characters, broken yet amazing
After Hours-- a filthy mouthed blue collar hero. They meet on a psych ward where they work

Need You Tonight-- how kink should be done! Super sexy
It Happened at the Fair-- amazing historical fiction set at the Chicago Worlds Fair
How to be a Scottish Mistress-- rich, interesting, fascinating characters, some of the best historicals I've read

Cross Your Heart-- a cheeky paranormal with a dirty mouthed hero, an older heroine and lots of crazy
Just a Hint Clint--there's this scene. You just have to read it.

Question: Have you ever visited the location of a book you have read?
A: In a general way, yeah. Like I've visited Texas and read books set there. Same with France and other countries. I don't know about specific locations (like individual monuments or buildings, though)
