TBR Pile Knockout (2) + Seduction of the Billionaire Playboy Actor by Marquita Valentine

TBR Pile Knockout is a weekly meme hosted by Ana of Beach Bum Reads and Anna of Herding Cats & Burning Soup. This meme was created to tackle our HUGE and STILL GROWING TBR piles.&nbsp

We'll be posting EVERY Monday for the rest of the year. Our goal is to make a rather nice dent in our TBR piles. So, aside from our other lovely reads, we will be making sure ONE book out of our TBR pile will be read :)

Want to join in? Check out the rules:

1. Go to your TBR pile and randomly pick one book off your list!
  • We'll be using random.org to pick our reads.
  • Type in the number of books in your TBR pile where it says "MAX"
  • Then click generate and it will give you your randomly selected book!
  • NOTE: If the book chosen via random.org is part of a series, you can go ahead and read the first book in said series.
2. Come back here each week (or however often you'd like to join in) and link up your "TBR Pile Knockout" post in the linky below!

Don't know what to write in your post? You can Add the cover for your book, the book summary and details (author, publisher, etc.), you can leave a line or two on how long that book was sitting in your TBR Pile, or just tell us what you think about starting this one! You can always add in a review for your last pick too!

Don't have a blog? You can still join in! Just link in your Goodreads reviews or add link the Amazon/B&N page for the book and leave your thoughts in a comment on this page :)

In order to get the attention of Christian Romanov, Hollywood's latest British import and newest bad boy, Zoe Ambrose disguises herself at a masked ball as a woman named Amber.

She has seduction on her mind and Christian is the target.

Christian Romanov, heir to a mineral and oil conglomerate, has chosen acting as his latest insult to his uptight family. Despite excelling at his new profession, it doesn't fill the void in his soul. Then he meets the mysterious Amber at a masked ball and his world is flipped upside down.

Type: Contemporary Romance, Short story/prequel
Heat: 3.5 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Well, daaamn! My first TBR Knockout pick definitely caught my attention. It's flipping scorching hot! And wastes absolutely no time getting there. It turns out to be a prequel to the first full length book in the series and is how the main couple first meet at a masked ball. Chemistry? There. Sex? Panty melting. A bit of intrigue? Oh yeah. These two are somehow connected before that "first meet" at the ball but Zoe's keeping her identity hidden from him. It's not a complete story and leaves off with a huge cliffhanger that, if you're anything like me, will have you scrambling back to Amazon to order Twice Tempted, their full length story, as quick as possible. Valentine definitely knew what she was doing with this prequel and gives you the perfect taste of Christian and Zoe that'll leave you captivated and panting for more.

Miracles still happen in modern day New York when "Scrooge" (Nathaniel Danvers) meets Heaven Can Wait (Daphne), who has been sent to give him one last chance at redemption. Angel Be Good captures the essence of the classic Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and offers a touch of humor and romance. This sexy romantic comedy is the perfect holiday feel-good read.

Okay, I'll admit after seeing reviews for Angel Be Good I'm a little nervous. I picked this one up as a freebie last July I think when I was doing a Christmas in July thing. I'm gonna give it a go. Hopefully it'll surprise me :)

    1. LOL I kinda lucked out with mine since it was under 50 pages. Not sure I would have made it with a full length book. I mean damn! Where the heck did the week go?!!

    2. :O lucky you! haha I don't even know if mine was a short or not, I was still reading a book that was requested for review. It's good, I just need to find time where I can read with no interruptions. Hopefully this week is a little bit slowed down.

    A Highlander's Temptation (MacKenzie #7)
    by Sue-Ellen Welfonder
    Paperback, 375 pages
Published October 1st 2009 by Forever (first published September 10th 2009)
    The book blurb:

Darroc MacConacher spends sleepless nights dreaming of a raven-haired beauty who makes him ache with desire. Then his dream comes true: the lady with her lush curves and fair skin appears shipwrecked on his shores. Darroc is immediately drawn to her strength and beauty, and from the moment she lays eyes on this powerful, broad-shouldered warrior, Lady Arabella MacKenzie knows she'll never want another man.

But theirs is a forbidden love. The MacKenzies drove the MacConachers from their lands and destroyed their honor. Now, Darroc can use this sapphire-eyed seductress to shatter his foes. Yet how can he deny the passion that burns between him and Arabella, and ruin the one woman who touches his very soul?

I hope that if you haven't read anything by Sue-Ellen Welfonder that you give her a try. I fell in love with her writing back when she came out with her first titled Devil In A Kilt.

  5. Great job. I love the idea of this meme and I'd sign on if I could guarantee myself I'd pick a 50 pg book but with my luck I'll pick the unabridged version of King's "The Stand" which has been sitting in my tbr pile for over a decade.

    1. LOL. You can really pick however you want. I'm pulling all of mine randomly from my Nook/free books I've picked up. But you can pick them any way you want. Shortest, longest, been on the tbr pile a while, join in every week or once a month. It's pretty flexible :)

    2. I think next month I'll join in. I'll probably close my eyes and grab one off the bookshelf which is about to topple over. This month I am buried in review commitments and will get nowhere with the tbr pile.

    3. LOL sounds good. Oh I so know that feeling with the review pile. That was last month for me. About did me in. I think we're going to tweak the challenge a little so it's every other week instead of every week. Make it slightly more feasible long term :)

Hope you're enjoying the review books!
