18 & Over- Show us the Goods!

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines. This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!

Question of the Week:
Show us the goods! Share your bookshelves with everyone. Strictly eBooks? That's okay, take a pic of your reader! Give a tour of your shelves and have fun with it :)

A: Oooooh love this weeks activity and getting to see what everyone does with their books :) So, yeah, basically I have a freaking ton of books and they're pretty much all over the house.

Last summer I put this one in the living room. It's my disgustingly huge TBR pile. I'm not an ereader and have an addiction to used bookstores and thrift shops. As you can well see. The dogs/cats did get one of the shelves for their toys :)

One of the drawers has all of my
giveaway/duplicate books for the blog.

My room has most of the odds and ends books/organizing.

I'm a total organization freak. I like to plan ahead a couple months so the middle shelves on the dvd case are all the books I'm planning on reading soon.

My pile of 'would be nice to read this year' books
next to the bedroom closet. The box on top is some swag for the blog.

Then there's the random books people send me. Since I'm in animal rescue everyone thinks I would LOVE animal stories so they send them in mass. You know those true to life ones where the animal ALWAYS dies in the end?! Yeah, no I'm so not reading those. Last count I had 3 Marley & Me's in multiple languages. A couple Dewey the Cats, etc.

For the dining room I decided to put all of my books that deal with "taboo dinner topics" on display. So religion, politics, sciences, mass murderers, the mob and the like.

{Excuse the kitties. Their mom was doing something "weird" in the middle of the night so they had to come along and help take pictures.}

The guest room!
This is one of my favorite spots in the house. It took me 7 years to figure out what to do with the room and I LOVE how it turned out. One wall is almost entirely bookcases for all of my read books. There's a nice cozy chair and side table and a very comfortable day bed for extra reading options :)

Alright you've seen my obsession now. So what do you do with YOUR books? Don't have a blog? That's okay. Ya'll are welcome to share them on the herding cats FB page and link there if you'd like or just tell us about them :) Would love to see what yall've done!

    1. Heh. It's a little embarrassing. I'm going around the house tonight taking pictures and all I can think is "damn I've got a freaking ton of books!" My family teases me like you wouldn't believe when they come to visit. I figure as long as they're tidy it's okay :) I've been collecting for a good couple of years and am just terrible about parting with the ones I've read. Next house is so gonna have to have a library :)

    1. Those bookcases were some of my best buys. Ever. Ikea was so my favorite place last year. Nice big impact with a pretty small cost. Always love that :)

  7. You do have quite a collection. I'd have to kick my son & hubby out to have room for all those books. Or better yet, they'd kick me & my books out. LOL But I would love to have that many!

    1. Ha. Well that wouldn't be good! Keeping the hubby and son definitely trumps books :)

I was really surprised how little actual space these took up and how much nicer the two big cases made their rooms. They're both on walls that were unusable because of their size/window location. Too short for couches or beds, etc and were just wasted space.

  9. I may just have to move in with you. Even though I prefer to read on my nook I still love to be surrounded by paper books. Darn military and their weight restrictions for moving :(

Oh well such is life, I have 10 more years and then I can buy a house and fill it with all the books I want.
