The SPIRIT of the Blog?! Tag: The Cat Herder [Edition 35]

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I was trying to figure out what to do for this month's Blog All About It prompt which was SPIRIT. I'm thinking one of our Tag posts kind of sums up the spirit of the blog maybe? What do you think? lol

Taking a little break from books and herd to...sing a little.

This one just gets to me.

4 stars-- Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes (Rose Gardner Mystery #1) by Denise Grover Swank

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I picked up Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes on a whim and, yall, oooo I had a real good time!
The Gist: Rose has had a vision of her death. And...she has no idea why this guy is trying to kill her. She's a good girl who's been sheltered. No way she's done anything to get herself on his radar. But her life quickly falls apart and she decides if she's gonna die...well she's gonna do EVERYTHING she's ever wanted to before it happens. If the hot guy next door wants to help with that? So be it.

3.5 stars-- Lost and Found Sisters (Wildstone #1) by Jill Shalvis

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

I'm a huge fan of Jill Shalvis. I'd been putting off this series for a while, though, but it was a pretty fun start to things. It's more women's fiction than romance, though.
The Gist: Quinn's life has been upended. She's lost her sister and then, well, everything else falls to crap, too. Family, relationships, her job...who she thinks she is as a person. And she's left with a huge choice that will completely alter her life if she accepts it.

4 stars-- Fighting Irish (The Summerhaven Trio #1) by Katy Regnery

This gave me a good chuckle. The whole foot in mouth thing always cracks me up. These two were having a business meeting of sorts...

4 stars-- Bidding on Brooks (The Winslow Brothers #1) by Katy Regnery

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Sweet, steamy, make you smile goodness. I had a great time with Bidding on Brooks.
The Gist: Family is difficult and when you're the eldest you have to deal with a lot of crap. Like your baby sister auctioning you off for a charity fundraiser. Yeah. Thank goodness for good friends you can convince to buy you out from under a bunch of man hungry society women. Mmhm. Spending a week alone on a sailboat, though? That...will be interesting.

Tasty Delights-- Eggplant "Bacon"

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Yeah. I'll admit it. This one is a little out there. But there was this Facebook video and I was all Oooo....maybe? lol

And so eggplant 'bacon' was had.

And it really wasn't that bad! I'll make it again. Noms!

There's not much to this one. Grab a nice eggplant and then some seasoning. Olive oil, soy sauce, paprika, maple syrup, a little salt and pepper.

It originally called for smoked paprika and liquid smoke but I don't care for a smoke flavor so I skipped those.

Hello long week! I had 9 days with no appointments then BOOM all the things! Both volunteer gigs, a vet visit, going out of town to visit a friend. All good things but woo! I need a nap! lol

4 stars-- Emergency Delivery (Love Emergency, #2) by Samanthe Beck

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Awww guys! This book was so good!

This scene had me laughing. So the set up. The heroine has moved in with the hero and she's, well, into tidying. They'd been arguing about her doing his laundry. He was...not on board with that at all and he got his comeback eventually...

[1 Star Review] Satyr's Myst (Satyr's Myst #3) by Marie Harte

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Nope. Noooope. Nope. Satyr's Myst is what gives erotica a bad name. Flat characters, icky sex scenes, uninspired banter.
The Gist: Rick's life is in danger and, well, his ex has decided to keep him safe by...having him kidnapped and kept under lock and key by two sexy captors until they're able to track down the bad guys. And so begins a couple weeks of sexing up, well, everyone in residence.

Yall. It has been a week! Thankfully not with the herd *knock on wood* but with me. I might have maybe tried to make homemade granola. And might have maybe forgot it was in the oven. Which thankfully has an emergency shut off if it's left on too long. Like 7 hours. *looks around innocently*

3.5 stars-- Midnight Alias (Killer Instincts #2) by Elle Kennedy

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

This series. Yall. The characters are...fiery. The guys are with a group of mercenaries. The girls are a group of assassins. They're all rather badass and take no shit from each other. It's a good time.

The hero. He was trying so hard to be a good guy and not take advantage. Olivia, though? Well, she had some thoughts on this. So funny.

The Monthly Herd---June--- Where There Were Barely Any Posts

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Woo! June was a LIGHT month on the blog. I only had 13 posts go live. That's less than I've had in a month since starting in Jan 2012. Yall! It was hard not posting more but I needed the break for the herd so no regrets :)
