Recipes: Lasagna "cupcakes"

I made these lasagna "cupcakes" last month and they turned out pretty good so I wanted to give them another try and see if I could make any improvements. These are amazingly easy to make and really tasty. I think I actually prefer them to traditional lasagna. Less mess, easy to serve, great for snacking and, well, they're just pretty damn cute.

Lori Foster Get Together anyone?!

Alright yall I'm fixing to go all fangirl squealy over here. Only 2 more days before I leave for the Lori Foster Reader/Author Get Together up in Ohio. It's my first year going and I'm just so damn excited.

If yall don't know about it it's basically a big ol sleep over party at a hotel up in Ohio with a ton of authors and a bunch of readers. From what I've been told it's just a damn good time.

So any of yall going?! Who are yall excited to meet? If yall aren't registered for the event but live close to West Chester, Ohio there's a book signing Saturday the 2nd that's open to the public!

Me I'm pretty excited to meet Lori Foster of course. She's one of my favorite authors. I'm gonna have to work real hard not to go all squealy and embarrass myself ;)

Wild & Steamy Anothology

Type: Steampunk
Heat: 2-3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Kind of a strange collection of short stories. A little wild and a little steamy and all over the place. Steampunk, PNR erotica (and yeah that was a surprise!), Urban Fantasy. Not really what I was expecting but all very nicely written and interesting stories. Really enjoyed this collection.

The Blushing Bounder by Melijean Brook
"The search for a killer puts Detective Inspector Mina Wentworth's life in danger and her assistant, Constable Newberry, in the line of fire. But Newberry faces a danger of another kind: to his heart, by the woman forced to marry him. What will it take for this prudish bounder to convince his wife to stay?"

Hello, Gorgeous! (Gorgeous #1) by MaryJanice Davidson

One minute I'm out with my sorority sisters; the next there's a terrible accident (beyond my friend Stacey's outfit) and I'm waking up in some weird clinic transformed into a human cyborg--with a mission: to stop evil and stuff. Uh, hello? I've got a beauty salon to run.

Granted, it is cool to run faster than a Ford Mustang when I need to, even if it's totally hard on my shoes. But then I have to bring in another human cyborg on the run? One who happens to be male, totally gorgeous, smart, funny--and, um, his "enhancements"?--as if!

Type: Paranormal Romance/ Chick Lit
Heat: 2.5 out of 5
Rating: 2 out of 5

Hello, Gorgeous! Is a fairly decent read if you've got a couple hours to kill and are looking for some mindless fluff. It's rather silly and completely off the charts immature but sometimes that's just what you need. If you've liked Davidson's Queen Betsy series you'll probably enjoy this one as well. The style is pretty standard Davidson. The heroine is a little mean, a lot sarcastic and immature but gets the job done at the end of the day.

Tempting the Beast (Breeds #1) by Lora Leigh

Callan Lyons is a genetic experiment. One of six fighting for freedom and the survival of their Pride. Merinus Tyler is the reporter who will tempt him, draw him, until the fury of the "mating frenzy" locks them into a battle of sexual heat there is no escape from. Deception, blood, and the evil Genetics Council are hot on their trail. Callan will use his strength to try and save them both...and do all in his power to keep his woman in the process.

Type: Erotica/Paranormal Romance, Shifters (Feline)
Heat: 4 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

Hhmmmm. Tempting the Beast is the first in the lengthy Breeds series by Lora Leigh. I read a bunch of reviews before jumping into the series and honestly wasn't sure what to expect. People seem to either really love it or really hate it. I ended up being kinda in the middle. It didn't blow me away but something about it will have me picking up the next book in the series. There are some aspects that I liked but there were also some parts of the story that drove me up the wall.

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines. This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!

Question of the Week: Do you feel the need to write a review for your personal reads, as oppose to requested reviews, or are there some books you read just for the joy of reading?

I'm a horribly fast reader so I started the blog back in January mainly to help keep track of it all. I'll pick up a book in a series and really like it but might go 4 or 5 months before reading the next one and that's like 100 other books between them so I wanted somewhere I could go and get a little refresher of how I was feeling about the series.

Impetuous by Lori Foster

Grade school teacher Carlie McDaniels trades in her frumpiness for the look of an exotic harem girl, at least for one costume party. So long, spinsterhood--and hello tall, dark and handsome Tyler Ramsey....

Even after the best night of their lives, Tyler hasn't guessed the identity of his harem hottie...and Carlie plans on keeping him in the dark. After all, a gorgeous guy like Tyler would never fall for his smart-talking best friend. And Carlie's not sure she wants to know what would happen if he ever unveiled the naked truth!

Type: Contemporary Romance
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Lori Foster is one of those authors that just makes me happy. Doesn't matter which of her books I'm reading. If they're her new books or one of her firsts (like this one). Mercenaries, fighters, preachers. Part of a series or a stand alone. They just make me happy. Really can't ask for more than that, right? I hadn't heard of this one but saw it at the store and had to grab it up. Wasn't quite sure what to expect but whoa, baby, it really wasn't such a hot and steamy start! Got me to blush there for a second. Whew! Everything gets started at a Halloween party where Tyler and Carlie end up spending the night together. She's had a crush on him and wants to throw caution to the wind just once as long as she can hide behind her costume and keep her identity hidden. Yeah, you know that's gonna end in a bit of drama

Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch by B.J. Daniels

After Hudson Savage betrayed her, Dana Cardwell hoped never to lay eyes on the seductive cowboy again. Until a bunch of old bones showed up on her family ranch. Suddenly her former lover was back in her life in a big way-to investigate a decades-old crime.

Five years ago, Hud left town with a heart load of regrets. But now, as acting interim marshal, he had a job to do. And this time he wasn't walking away. Because now Dana's life was on the line-as the unsuspecting target of a killer who still walked the canyon. Hud would do whatever it took to keep Dana close. Even if it meant risking his own heart for a second chance for both of them....

Type: Romance
Heat: 2 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Might not be the catchiest title but it's a pretty good book! I picked up Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch not too long ago when I needed a book with a cowboy hat on the cover. I hadn't read Daniels before so didn't know what to expect and gotta say I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The story was very light in the romance department and not steamy at all but the mystery and crime were very well done and kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed Daniels writing style which moved along nicely, easily held my interest, wasn't too fussy or difficult to follow. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of her books.

Advertising for Love by Tana Darcee

A woman who could not forget her past, and a man who would not give up on their future -Tizzy McKenzie a shy but talented consultant in an advertising agency loved her work. She had a wonderful boss in Grant Mallaby and a great friend in Becky Whitman. And then one morning she gave him a lift and suddenly their sensible world is turned upside down. And that was before the 'cupids' stepped in.

Type: Contemporary Romance
Heat: 2 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

Advertising for Love is a free ebook I picked up from Barnes & Noble. The storyline is really rather sweet and the characters likable. It wasn't bad for a free read though it would benefit enormously from a serious edit and polish. I'm an easy going reader so I was able to look past it for the most part but if you're one that finds editing mistakes frustrating you'll want to skip over this one because there are good deal of them and it'll drive you absolutely nuts.

Passionately Pinterest!

Alright. I'll admit it. I LOVE Pintrest. I am shamelessly, hopelessly addicted to the thing.

There are just too many fascinating pins on there. So I'm starting a maybe weekly post called Passionately Pintrest. Maybe Positively Pintrest? Hmm. What do yall think?

Basically, instead of just pinning the darn things and forgetting about them I'm going to take one each week and actually make it happen. A recipe, a beauty treatment, a craft project, something funky for the yard. Who knows.

Just has to be something I've already pinned

If any of yall want to join in I'm all for that. Let me know so I can come check out what you've tried. Or if you see something you think I should try let me know either on her or you can shoot me an email to acade29@gmail.com

'Til There was U (O'Fallons #1) by Dianne Castell

Workaholic Ryan O'Fallon has made his name as an architect in a top San Diego firm in more ways than one. On the job, he's the go-to guy who can face down the toughest client without flinching. Off the job, he's got a rep for playing the field. The company lunchroom odds give his average relationship a whopping ten weeks and two days. And nobody knows better than Effie Wilson, Ryan's coworker and competitor. After all, she's won the last two pools on his lack-of-love life and has the Gucci shoes to prove it. Ryan may be Mr. Calm and Cool in the boardroom, but when Effie's around, he starts to sweat.

As if things weren't tense enough, Ryan's dad needs him at home just as Ryan's biggest project is taking off. There's no way Ryan won't help out his dad, but he's not about to let Effie stay and take all the credit. The only thing to do is bring her with him to Tennessee so they can work together. Now, back in O'Fallon's Landing, with its slow, easy days and long, steamy nights, Effie's letting her hair down big time, going from a buttoned-up businesswoman into a full-fledged, no-holds-barred force of nature...the kind that's turning Ryan's world upside down and putting anything but business on his mind....

Type: Contemporary Romance
Heat: 2 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

Not bad for a light little romance. 'Til There was U is the first book in Castell's O'Fallon series which follows the O'Fallon brothers and their new baby sister whose mom has suddenly disappeared and left her on their father's doorstep. So the boys are all heading back to Tennessee to help their dad and baby sister. The writing is easy but heavy on the Southern....color.
"Holy crap! You pulled a gun on him?"
Thelma shrugged. "It's the South, dear. We do things a tad different than in California, like settle trouble ourselves and call the sheriff later and say 'Oh, my, whatever have I done? Lordy me.' Then do a Southern swoon. The swoon is a nice touch."

Question of the Week:
What are you currently reading? Do you love it? Is it a new-to-you author or an old favorite? Tell us all about it!

Thought I'd join in on this one this week :)

I just finished a YA this morning (If I Die by Rachel Vincent) and really did not enjoy it so I moved on to an all time favorite of mine...JD Robb's In Death series.

Follow Friday

Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

A: I'm so not a summer girl. I grew up in Florida and moved to NC. It's practically summer year round so my dream spot would be spending it somewhere cold. With snow and storms. Snuggled up on a lush couch with warm blankets. Hot chocolate, fuzzy socks. Mmmm. Yeah, that would be perfect for catching up on reading a bit :)

What about yall?!

Dirty Little Secrets....for the first time

Q: If you could read one book again for the first time,
which one would you pick and why?

Thought I'd join in this week :) One book I'd love to get to read again for the first time is JR Wards Lover Awakened. I just love Zsadist. He's one of my favorite heroes from any genre. Loved the emotions, seeing his past, finally understanding some of the things he would do. I really liked Bella as well and seeing how she healed him. I couldn't put the book down and flew through it. If I got another chance I would so read it slower and savor every second of it.

Alright, what about you? Who would you pick?!

My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers #4) by Rachel Vincent

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

Type: Young Adult, Paranormal, Bean Sidhe
Heat: 1 out of 5
Rating: 5 out of 5

Oh I so do not like Sabine! Gah. Vincent is so very good at making unlikable characters. Loved this addition to the Soul Screamers series and I think it actually might be my favorite of the lot even with Nash's ex, the dratted "sleep terrorist" Sabine. My Soul to Steal was fast paced with crazy things happening at the high school, massive amounts of relationship drama, possessions and a huge dose of those blasted hellions that just will not go away. All makes for an excellent read and one I couldn't put down.

Ain't Myth Behaving by Katie MacAlister

Type: Paranormal Romance
Heat: 2.5 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

Ah, guilty, guilty pleasures. Love Katie MacAlister. Cheeky, ridiculous entertainment at it's best. She's got such an odd/quirky sense of humor that I really enjoy. Just never know what's going to come out of her mouth and I love that. Ain't Myth Behaving was actually two novellas put together. Ancient gods, Viking ghosts, sassy American heroines. Yeah, it was an odd one but pretty entertaining and gave me some chuckles.

STAG PARTY
Dane Hearne -- also known as the Irish fertility god Cernunnos -- must choose a bride quickly. His long-time goddess has run off with a salsa dancer, and Dane must be married by Beltane, just a week away, or become a mortal -- and die. When he meets American travel writer Megan St. Clair, he knows he's found his soul mate. But while Dane is a sexy Irish hunk with his fair share of blarney, can he convince Megan to marry him in just one week?

Undone (Outcast Season #1) by Rachel Caine

Once she was a powerful Djinn. Then Cassiel defied her ruler, Ashan, who tore her very essence away and reshaped her in human flesh as punishment. Forced to live among mortals, Cassiel has found refuge among the Weather Wardens--whose power she must tap into regularly, or she will die.

Cassiel earns her keep by assisting the Earth Warden Manny Rocha on his missions--which she finds much easier than coping with the emotions and frailties of her human condition, especially her growing affection for Manny's brother, Luis. But when Cassiel encounters a malevolent force that threatens the Rocha family, she discovers that her perceived human weakness may be her greatest strengths...

Type: Urban Fantasy, Djinn
Heat: 1 out of 5
Rating: 5 out of 5

Holy. Crap. That was just freaking amazing! It's been a while since I've read a good Urban Fantasy and Rachel Caine writes some of the absolute best. She'll have you completely enthralled and leave you scared as hell of the weather and mother nature. Sweet Moses! If you've read her Weather Warden series you definitely need to check out Undone. It's a spin off on the Weather Wardens and so freaking good! Same world (loved that a bunch of old characters make appearances in this new one), same writing style but a different focus. For those that haven't read the series. Mother nature is more or less out to get us and the Wardens (Earth, Fire and Weather) along with Djinn can manipulate storms to help protect humans. Then, of course, there are wayward Wardens and Djinn and internal battles between the two sides that add to the threat to humans. The writing is action packed and fast paced, the plots fascinating and like I said they'll leave you good and scared of the next storm that pops up around you. There's an edgy sort of anticipation while you're reading too. Can you tell I loved this one?! If you're looking for a romance book this isn't it, at least so far. There are some hints of a potential relationship but so far just a good urban fantasy that's dark, gritty and full of action.

Jaime (Visitation, NC #5) by Lori Foster

Carrying a naked woman up a mountain in a driving storm-- now there's a way for a man to start the day. But for Jamie, the unconscious redhead in his arms is an intruder, one who could bring him harm. He has his reasons for hiding out in this mountain cabin; for keeping his emotions hidden; for never, ever getting too close to anyone. And he's not about to stop now.

Before she passed out in his bed, she said her name was Faith-- an appropriate name since he has to take her at her word. Who is she? Why is she here? Who sent her? And what is she doing to him? Jamie's used to feelings of wariness, isolation, of being on guard. What he's not used to is this dangerous, nearly uncontrollable new emotion raging through him.

Jamie wants Faith, as a man wants a woman... and it may already be too late to turn back...

Type: Contemporary Romance, Slight Paranormal
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

I love this series but gotta say, Jamie is plain ol' flipping creeeepy. I think this may be the first time a hero has actually given me the willies and had me cringing with a WTF expression taking up damn near permanent residence on my face. The first 100 pages are so bizarre. Jamie find Faith trooping up his mountain and goes to confront her but as soon as he reaches her she collapses from exhaustion and illness. What does our hero do first? Well, of course, he strips her naked and throws all of her clothes off the mountain and into the river just in case she's wearing a bug. Then he searches her for tracking devices. He feels her up, and I mean really feels her up, and doesn't miss checking anywhere. I'm way the hell over here and I was so damn uncomfortable. And Faith just lets him go at it. I don't care why she was there or what she needed from him. I'd be slapping the ever living hell out of him. I get that he's paranoid because of his past but damn. ::shudder:: Thankfully it does get better but damn that first bit is a doosey.

Donovan's Angel (Donovan's of the Delta #1) by Peggy Webb

When Martie Fleming breezed into small town Pontotoc, Mississippi, determined to settle down and teach jazzercise in her home studio, she never expected to land next door to the minister. She never expected her playful golden retriever to steal his shorts right off the clothes line. And she certainly never expected to fall in love.

Everybody in town would agree they are so wrong for each other – everybody but Paul Donovan. With her gypsy outfits, her lively music and her irrepressible spirit, Martie is exactly the angel the preacher needs. But can he convince her? Can their love and his career survive the small town gossip and the fireworks Martie creates wherever she goes?

Type: Inspirational Romance
Heat: 2 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed Donovan's Angel. It's a sweet, charming, has a little humor mixed in and a lot of small town drama. Paul, who's the town preacher, is going about his business when his new neighbor falls into his life. Literally. As in, right out of a tree and into his garden. Martie's a tree climbing jazzercise teacher that plays baseball with the guys and wears wild crazy clothes. And Paul, he's completely and utterly smitten with this woman whose puppy who keeps stealing his things and bringing them home to his mistress. His purple socks, favorite boxers, every marigold in his flowerbeds.

I loved Martie and Paul as a couple. The two are so different from one another but absolutely perfect together. Martie's a free spirit wild child who fully embraces life balances Paul's quiet reserved soul. He's grounded, loves what he does and has a gentle, easy going spirit.
"You like playing with fire, don't you, Paul?"
"Only since I met you."
Their relationship/courtship is really adorable. Martie is always trying to walk away from Paul because she doesn't think she's proper enough for a minister but Paul knows from the start that Martie is his future and the man gives chase. Just couldn't help but smile at his determination to win Martie over. He likes her just how she is, loud "honky tonk music", wild clothes, scandalous moments, the whole package. He just has to convince her that it doesn't matter what the town thinks. And man the little biddies in town make it rough on them.

This is short story and an older one. Was written back in 1986 plus it's kinda sorta a Christian romance so it's fairly tame and not nearly as racy as today's mainstream romance books tend to be. I kind of liked having a little change of pace and things being left to the imagination just a bit. Was a nice read about finding where you belong and overcoming small town opinions. Loved it!

Donovan's Angel is the first of 5 books in the Donovan's of the Delta series and is a free read from B&N and Amazon right now!

Get your copy at:      Amazon       Barnes&Noble

So, do yall like all of your books hot and steamy or do you like a nice mix when it comes to what you read?!

Follow Friday- the mommy edition!

Q:This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother's Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

A: Aw. My favorite? Ms Kelly from Maya Banks KGI series. She's just the best mom and raised some seriously fantastic boys who kick ass and love their women. She loves her boys something fierce but doesn't let them get away with anything either. I love when she pops up in the series and how much her boys adore her. She's always taking in strays too and making them her kids which makes me smile. She's just one of those mom's you'd love to have as your own.

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered by Maggie Shayne

Type: Paranormal Romance, Witches
Heat: 2 out of 5
Rating: 4 out of 5

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered turned out to be a decent collection of short stories with each of Shayne's stories centering around witchcraft or magic. There's a good bit of fluffy PNR which was fun to read and one story that while light on the paranormal elements was very nicely done.

Everything She Does is Magick
[A trio of matchmaking witches chooses unsuspecting little Nathan McBride as the perfect mate for their baby niece. The future looks rosy indeed, except for one little catch: they must keep him a virgin!]

This was a pretty cute read. Growing up together Aurora Sortilege and Nathan McBride drove each other crazy. Some days they were smitten, some days they hated each others guts. The glimpses into their childhoods at the start were great and had me laughing. Years later they meet up by chance and nothings really changed. They still drive each other crazy. But the two are destined to end up together and have a magically important child. Aurora's aunts end up doing a lot of meddling over the years to make sure Nathan is still a virgin when the two get together. Kinda creepy but the ways they kept him innocent were highly entertaining. Poor guy just couldn't catch a break. I really liked the back and forth between the two characters. It's a fun, easy read.

Follow Friday- thanks!

Q: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

A: Hm. I think I'd tell Shelly Laurenston how much I appreciate her humor. I found her books last year when I was having a rough go at work (I run an animal rescue) and had a sick kitty at home. Was not a fun time.

So, Shelly, thank you for those wonderfully wacky and slightly insane shifters in your Pride series. Getting lost in their world for a little while and laughing till it hurt was a wonderful, wonderful thing. You kick ass and I am forever grateful for Lochlan, Blayne, Bo, the Shaw boys, Sissy Mae and the Smith herd and of course DeeeeeeAaaannnn and Ric :) They just kill me.

Silent Witness by Lindsay McKenna

FBI criminal profiler Ellen Tanner transferred out of Washington, D.C., to escape the grief of losing a husband. But her new partner, San Diego navy JAG lieutenant Jim Cochran, is a challenge she never expected.

The last thing Cochran wants or needs in his world of order and duty is a woman. After a nasty divorce, he's convinced he's through with relationships. Then along comes Ellen. He knows opposites attract ... just not how much.

Now a female Top Gun instructor has been murdered and the media is having a field day. Their instincts tell them there's more to this case than meets the eye --- but how do you unravel a deadly conspiracy in an institution where honor and silence go hand in hand?

Type: Contemporary Romance, Military
Heat: 1 out of 5
Rating: 3 out of 5

Hm. This was my first time reading Lindsay McKenna and I ended with some mixed feelings about it. There were parts I enjoyed and found fascinating and then others that leaned towards the 'eh'. The writing was fairly easy to follow though a guide in the back for some of the military terms and events would have been very handy (Google helped me out a lot on this one). I was a bit too young when some of the events referenced actually happened so didn't know enough about them but if you know a bit about the Military it probably won't bother you.

the Pregnancy Test (NY Girlfriends #1) by Erin McCarthy

Ordinarily, I'm a fan of pink-lovely color, does smashing things for the complexion. But not when it's the bright, glaring stripe staring back at me on the pregnancy test. Then, pink is the colour of major oops, of morning sickness, of boyfriends who seemed decent but now are part of some Jerk Witness Protection Program.

Still, I've got a few things going for me-bitter humour, a divine right to eat till I'm the size of Marlon Brando, and good friends who've managed to get me a job interview with one Damien Sharpton: in need of a personal assistant, and some say, a good, swift kick in the arse. If you want to make a lasting impression, by all means, toss your cookies in your future boss's wastebasket, which is located directly between his excruciatingly sexy legs.

Apparently, Mr. Gorgeous-But-Unbearably-Anti-Social must like personal assistants who violate his trash can, because I got the job. And if I can avoid him via text messaging for the next seven months of health insurance, everything will be just fine. Except that he's just asked-no, insisted-that I go with him on a business trip to the Caribbean. Gulp. Ordinarily, this would be cause for celebration. Ordinarily, I'd shave my legs, pack my bikini, revel in day-glo drinks and my seething lust for Mr. Swarthy-And-Secretive. But there's nothing ordinary about this situation...which means it could be absolutely extraordinary...

Type: Contemporary Romance/Chick-Lit
Heat: 3 out of 5
Rating: 5 out of 5

Ack! I now officially know WAY more about pregnancy than I ever wanted to know! I laughed. I cringed. I loved every second of it. McCarthy just writes a fantastic book no matter the subject. Loved the main characters, the humor and how she managed to make the storyline of the heroine being pregnant with one guy and ending up with another one actually work.

Random Reads! May: Honor Bound

Random Reads is a monthly meme hosted by I'm Loving Books to help all those unfortunate books that always get picked last. Just pick a book from your TBR list any random kinda way and read it during the month.Pretty darn easy! Jump on over to I'm Loving Books and sign up!

I LOVED my April Random Read. That's it right over there ----> I don't think I would have ever read McCall's Tallchief even though it was on my shelf if it weren't for Random Reads. Lucky me it turned out to be pretty great and ended up being one of my favorites for the month. Review's here if you want to check it out.

Now on to MAY! I feel like I'm cheating just a little bit on this one because I ended up with a short story but it's on the NOOK and I NEVER get to those. I'm a real book kinda girl. So, maybe, it's okay this time :)

Random.org and Goodreads thought book #455 looked good for May. A short story called Honor Bound by Moira Rogers. I've enjoyed the other books I've read by her so imagine I'll like this one too :)

Amaia accepts the right of the Demon Clans to rule the cities of America as they've done for centuries, but she can't understand her own clan's desire to exterminate even the werewolves who have retreated to the forests and into hiding. When her patrol squad catches a young wolf, terrified and alone, Amaia helps the girl escape torture and eventual death at the hands of her clan, even knowing the penalty for such treason is her own death.

Orion has two things left in the world: his honor and his sister. When a gorgeous demon crashes into the middle of his pack with his terrified sister in tow and an elite squad of assassins on her heels, honor dictates he protect her. But his pack, weary from war, is more than willing to turn Amaia over in exchange for their own lives, even though demons are known for their willingness to betray.

Amaia and Orion's only hope is to combine forces, an unheard of partnership between demon and werewolf made dangerous by their undeniable attraction. Orion may have the warrior skills necessary to defeat assassins, but can he trust his safety--and his heart--to a demon with the power to kill with a kiss?

Spotlight: Grace Elliot and Eulogy's Secret + giveaway

Hey all! Wanted to tell you a little about a new-to-me author, Grace Elliot and her book Eulogy's Secret. Don't you just love that cover? I think it's gorgeous! Yall have a chance to win your very own copy today! Check out the rafflecopter below and enter to win!

So, first a little about Ms Elliot. She's definitely our kind of people! She's a Veterinarian and adores the kitties! Yep, we're loving her already. When she's not taking care of our furry friends and doting on her very own herd she writes historical romances to help deal with the emotionally stressful side of working with animals. Since we do animal rescue we understand how hard that job can be!

Eulogy's Secret is her second novel and sounds very interesting. I've put it on my list of books to check out as soon as I saw it. Now that we know she's an animal person a copy's going to make it's way to our house even faster than before.

Here's a little blurb for yall about Eulogy's Secret!
