Guest Posting on Herding Cats

*waves* Thanks so much for coming on HC&BS for a guest post. Below are some tips and notes that'll help with getting the most out of being featured on our blog. On the day of the post we'll share on our social media platforms and greatly appreciate it if you'll share with your fans as well.

The blog is VERY open and free spirited. Feel free to curse, be naughty, silly, outrageous. I do so often. lol The only thing really off the table is political posts. I’m just not into having that on the blog. Other than that...pretty much anything goes. Really.

Adding a greeting at the start of the post helps a lot in pulling our readers in and getting them to stick around. Then at the end of the post some sort of  thanks for hanging with me and asking readers a question is awesome. The ladies LOVE to share so adding a little end transition question will spur them on and they’ll jump in and visit :)

Things/topics that go over very well on the blog:

• Pet related posts--silly things they’ve done, how you got them, photos, etc.
• Food posts--favorite recipes, cooking disasters, making a dish “how to” w/ pics post
• anything Man Candy or of the lusty nature always goes over well lol
• Top 10 lists--naughty, sweet, scandalous, silly, etc--favorite things, things that drive you nuts, favorite books, movies, obsessions, geeky moments, etc
• Things you’ve done, love/are obsessed with, WANT to do (like a bucket list), favorite places you’ve been, funniest traveling stories, etc

These can all be book related too--example Hero’s Bucket List, top 10 wicked things the hero wants to do to/at/with/for the heroine, Hero vs Feline, make the heroine’s favorite dish, or one that reminds the hero of his woman, etc

• Character’s funniest quirks, if a holiday post things they love/hate about it/how they got on Santa’s naughty or nice list,  naughtiest/most embarrassing/sweetest things they’ve done, things their hero/ine taught them, things they wish they could get away with (or have)

• If going genre specific for your book

• Historical--weirdest/naughtiest historical items, things they did, if you could go back in time things you’d love to do, historical scandals, historical “did you know”? posts
• Paranormal-best ‘almost found out by humans’ story, quirky things about the world you created, favorite para beings and why?, if you could be an XYZ you’d be this and why, sexiest para-being
• Contemporary-best things about small town life, fav types of hero jobs, heroines you’d want to be friends with,
• Erotica-best pervertables, funny/scandalous things you’ve researched, anything ever made you blush?

It’s okay if your post is NOT book related. I’ve had many readers over the years buy books from an author because they loved their non-book related post and their voice in it so please feel free. If you have a topic you aren’t sure about just let me know and we can talk it out and see if it's something that'll fit the blog :)

Word count of 250-400 works best. If you can break it into paragraphs all the better. And photos are always helpful. They help catch peoples eyes and bring them into the post.

Commenting. We'd like for all authors to come by and reply to readers who visit on their posts. This is a big deal on our blog and part of why our features are so popular. Features are there to help yall interact with your readers or potential readers so commenting is a must. We use Disqus which allows you to reply directly under comments left and it will message your reply to the reviewer. If you simply comment on the main post the only person who will get that comment is me. So please hit the reply button directly under the person's comment you're replying to. Often people will come back and chat which is a great thing :)
