Interview w/ Alexa Grace + giveaway! (open INT)

Welcome to day 21 of Authors for the Holidays!

We've got a wonderful author, Alexa Grace, stopping by for a little chat today. Alexa writes some oh so yummy romantic suspense that'll keep you coming back for more :)

We're giving away a set of the trilogy today and don't forget to check out the buy links down below!
Deadly Offerings (book 1) is *free* on both Nook & Kindle! Score!
But be sure to pick it up soon b/c it won't be free for long!

It's so nice to see you this morning Alexa :) Thanks for dropping by herding cats & burning soup to chat with us today!

I'm a huge fan of romantic suspense and have really been enjoying your Deadly Trilogy. For our followers who are just meeting you could you tell us a little about the trilogy as a whole and the type of men and women they'll meet?
Deadly Offerings - Book One - Anne Mason thinks she’ll be safe living in the Midwest living on a wind farm left to her by her ex's mother. She may be dead wrong. Someone is dumping bodies in her corn field and telling Anne they are gifts—for her! And how can she be falling in love with the hot attorney who represented her ex-husband in their divorce proceedings?
Deadly Deception - Book Two- Enter the disturbing world of illegal adoptions, baby trafficking and murder with new detective Lane Hansen and private investigator Frankie Douglas.  Going undercover as husband and wife, Lane and Frankie struggle to keep their relationship strictly professional as their sizzling passion threatens to burn out of control.  Can they keep passion in control long enough to take down two murderers?
Deadly Relations - Book Three - Detective Jennifer Brennan, still haunted by her abduction five years before, devotes her life to serve and protect others. Love is the last thing on her mind, but will it find her after three young women go missing and are found murdered on her watch and she vows to find the killer — or die trying.
Ack they all sound sooo good! What 6 fun/interesting facts do you think readers would get a kick out of knowing about the trilogy?
  • I did a boatload of research on wind farming before I wrote Deadly Offerings and even visited a few in Indiana where my book is set.
  • The cat scene in Deadly Deception is very similar to what actually happened to one of my daughter's male friends.  When I decided to use something similar in the book, I bounced ideas off my daughter late in an International  Pancake House.  We were laughing so hard, our waitress asked us what was going on. We feared they were going to ask us to leave.
  • I am super careful about anything that has to do with crime scenes and law        enforcement and have a fantastic subject matter expert who heads major crimes who literally reads every page of my books to make sure they are credible.
  • The house on the cover in Deadly Holiday is a real home that belongs to my sister and her husband. *oooo very neat! Love that!*
  • In the original manuscript for Deadly Relations, I used real state parks. My niece read my manuscript and thought there were serial murders in the parks. She was so frightened she vowed never to hike in the parks again. That is when I decided to use fictional names for the parks.
  • I celebrate with Chunky Monkey ice cream at the finish of each book. *nice!*
I always love talking heroes and whew yours knocked me off my feet. Especially Michael (I so want a real life him <g> ). Lane and Blake are pretty swoon-worthy too. Any particular men that inspired them? Do you have a favorite of your guys?
I once knew a man with a personality like Michael's in college.  I adored him and was crushed when his graduate studies ended and he moved several states away.
Lane and Blake are figments of my imagination and have to be the hottest and nicest men on the planet.  I like my alpha men to have hearts as big as they are.
Ooooh yeah that's the perfect alpha hero! Speaking of things we love, we're big animal people here at herding cats and saw you have a pretty special writing team on your side. We'd love to hear about them :)
My daughter and I have a herd of five Miniature Schnauzers of various colors.  Three of them are rescues.  Each of them has a unique personality.  Millie, a salt and pepper, is unusually tall for a miniature so we call her our runway model. Juliet is 15 years old and is black with white markings that make her look as if she were wearing a bikini.  Starbucks is white, named after my favorite coffee, and is Mr. Congeniality. Starbucks is a rescue, but I don't know who rescued who.  It was love at first sight for both of us.  Peppy is blonde (if you can believe it), has a passport for Puerto Rico, and is the first Type B, laid-back Schnauzer I've ever met.  He is our only dog who allows himself to be used as a pillow at naptime by the other dogs.  Last but not least is Monty, who is black and built like a quarterback.  Monty dreams of being the alpha dog in our herd but that position is already taken.
Awwww, so cute!! Okay, I'm a total holiday junkie so gotta ask... anything exciting planned for Christmas & New Years or traditions you're looking forward to?
I am spending Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's in Indiana this year with my family.  It's the first time in five years I've been able to do it and look forward to it.
How about a little...Lightning Round?
  • Oddest thing in your purse right now? Container of pepper spray in a pink camouflage lipstick case.
  • Craziest thing you've ever done? In college, my roommate and I kidnapped a dorm neighbor's goldfish, set him down on a plate, then posed above him with a knife and fork.  We then sent her the photo and demanded a ransom.  She came through with a large pizza the next night.
  • High heels or flip flops? I used to be a high heel girl, but now give in to comfort for my flatties.
  • Favorite word? Cool
  • Cats or dogs? Dogs - specifically Schnauzers
  • Favorite ice cream flavor? Chunky Monkey by Ben & Jerry

    1. Julianne- They aren't really gory or scary. It does have a serial killer involved but really it's not too bad. Nothing that would put you off your dinner. It's a good suspense/mystery with a little "people can be so creepy" mixed in if that makes sense.

Reading this reminded me of my grandmother. She loved to read mysteries. Thinking back, I wonder if she read any romances with mystery in them. This series sounds really good and I've added you to my list. I'm going to have to look into Chunky Monkey ice cream too. I've never heard of it.
