Kiss and Tell (T-FLAC #2) by Cherry Adair

Marnie Wright has seen more than her fair share of testosterone. Growing up with four overly protective brothers was one thing. Now a mountain man named Jake Dolan has invaded a peaceful day of soul-searching at her grandmother's secluded cabin. Sure, she was trespassing on his private property, but did he have to pull a gun on her? There's more to this longhaired soldier of fortune who calls himself the Tin Man, but she's not sure she wants to stick around to find out what. Then he stashes her in his secret lair--an underground techno-fantasy complete with security monitors and an arsenal--and Marnie realizes the guy is military, top secret military. He's also got the most beautiful mouth she's ever seen.

The last thing Jake wants in his dangerous life is a woman. Doesn't like them. Doesn't need them. But a man would have to be dead not to fall for the sexy-as-sin Marnie Wright. But how could he have feelings for someone who may be killed just for being close to him. His days, after all, are numbered.

Damn! This one was good! The more I read from Cherry Adair the more I love her books. Kiss and Tell is fast paced, jam-packed with action and a couple absolute jaw dropping OMG moments and a steamy little romance between endearing characters to top it all off. A great combination which made for a fantastic read and one that I really didn't want to end.

Jake and Marnie are so different from each other but I really loved both of them right from the start which doesn't happen all that often. Jake was one of my favorite types of heroes. He's a little surly, antisocial and gruff. He scowls, glares and damn near growls everything that comes out of his mouth. He doesn't like women and he doesn't like dogs and he wants Marnie and her pooch off. his. damn. mountain! But under all of that he's a good man. One that protects and comforts and is a bit of a softie who does things from time to time that'll make you sigh and your breath catch. Right before he goes back to being all growly <g>
"Get it through your head: You're here under duress, my duress, and the second I can get you across the river, the better I'll like it."
"Even if Winkie wants me?"
"Who the hell is Winkie?"
In answer, her gaze traveled to his crotch.
"Woman," Jake roared, beyond insane, "do you have a death wish? Get in that bed, pull the covers over your head, and go to sleep before I do something we'll both regret."
She went.
Marnie, well, in Jake's words, she's an adorable fruit cake. She sick to death of bossy men telling her what to do, babbles when she's nervous, jumps from subject to subject, and pretty much says whatever's on her mind. But in a totally lovable way, swear. I loved that she wasn't one bit bothered by Jake and his pissed off grisly bear personality. I mean, the girl has absolutely no sense of self preservation when it comes to him but man I loved it! She's a real scrapper too and "fights like a girl but a tough girl."

The characters were really what made Kiss and Tell such an absolutely captivating read for me. Even Marnie's pup, Duchess, was amazing and well written. While the villain wasn't all that surprising, the action was exciting and watching the two battle against their assailants and seeing it all unfold was very entertaining. If you love romantic suspense with a little insanity on the side this one's a must read. It's pretty steamy too!

  3. I haven't read any book of Cherry yet but this one seems good to me, it make me think about Operation Midnight by Justine David ( because of the military man vs woman and dog) but in that one it was a team here he is alone so it must be a lot steamier^^

you really made me curious now!

    1. Hmm. I haven't read that one. I'll have to check Justine David out :) I love a good military man and always love when animals are included in the story-line. Steamy bits are always good but I've loved a lot of PG books too.

Thanks for the heads up Miki!

  19. I own and read and love them all, well, except for the TFLAC wizards, those are too over the top. And I have to admit, some of her heroines have too much TSTL moments (which I hate!). But overall, I do love her books. Have you read her Cutter Cay series yet?

    1. I haven't gotten to the TFLAC wizards yet. But I love PNR so I'm guessing it'll work for me :)

LOL. Those TSTL moments kill me in all of my books. It happens a lot though. I always think it's kinda funny when the *hero* has them.

Haven't tried the Cutter Cay but I have book 1 & 2 on my shelf. Have heard really good things about them though and can't wait for some extra time to read em :)

  24. I've had the T-FLAC series on my radar for quiet a while now and only recently read The Mercenary...LOVED IT!! Yes, I'm a bit behind. I have a few of the other books already in my possession but they are not in order. Unfortunately, Kiss and Tell is not one of them and it sound really great. I don't want to spoil any interwoven plots for myself by reading them out of order so I have been a bit hesitant to jump into the books I do have. Would it make a difference if they are read out of order??? Just wondering. I really need to get moving to catch up to ICE COLD. I need to have me a T-FLAC reading marathon and soon!!

    1. I really lied the Mercenary too! The great thing about the series is you can bob around. They're written in trilogies for the most part. So you can pick any of those up without much trouble or spoiling anything :)

  25. I've read a few of Cherry's anthology books, but I haven't read the T-FLAC books. This one sounds interesting.
How does a lone merc protect a crazy lady who thinks she doesn't need help? Sounds like he has more trouble then he needs before the bad guys even show up, lol. Too funny.
