Follow Friday!

Q: Have you ever looked at book's cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

A: Oh, more than once. Pretty much every single one of Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson books. They're just awful and I nearly didn't pick up the series because of them. But it's an absolutely fantastic series and one of my favorites. I can't believe I nearly missed out on them! Oh and the thing that gets me most... Mercy only has the belly tattoo. All the rest of them? Not so much. Drives me nuts when the covers don't match the characters! Grr.

Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5)

Oh, so having to add another one. Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress World series. The guys are just so, so, so creepy! ::shudder:: Definitely don't do the characters justice!

First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2)

I'm sure there have been others but just can't get past these to even think about it :)

What do yall think?

Oh! While yall are here. There are a couple giveaways going on right now. Links are over on the left side. Feel free to check em out and play along!

  1. I think they could have picked a much better cover model. She's not really pretty but I do love the tattoos! I haven't read these yet but hope to soon. Happy Friday :)

    1. Happy Friday to you too Jessi! The tattoos are interesting but don't match the character in the books. Not sure what they were thinking :)

Hope you enjoy them when you get to them!

  4. Totally agree with you, love the books, hate the covers! The first one is the worst, I think they got rid of that model because the one in the following books looks like a different girl, doesn't she? But the books are all awesome, I really love the character of Mercy!

    1. Oh she does look a bit different, you're right! Isn't Mercy great? I flew through the books once I got over that first cover and jumped in :)

  5. I honestly think the covers are what keeps me from reading most urban fantasy/paranormal books. I obviously need to give the Mercy Thompson books a try though, since every blogger in the world seems to love them. ;)

New follower, came for the blog title, staying for the content.

    1. Oh definitely give them a try. The series gets better and better too! I'm with you on the UF/Paranormal book covers. So many great books in the genre but they do tend to have some special covers.

      Thanks for dropping by!

  6. LOL, that is so funny. That was my second choice for bad covers. But I couldn't pick just one. Great choice. Thanks for stopping by my blog and I am a new follower.

  10. I kind of like the Mercedes Thompson covers. I think they match her well. Love Mercy and Adam! Haven't read those particular Jeaniene Frost books but the covers are not that great. Need to read them still. Love the Night Huntress series though. Following GFC and RSS.

  13. I haven't read the Mercy Thompson book in part because of the covers. They're on my list but I just don't want to carry around a book that looks so trashy. I wrote a whole blog post about bad UF covers once because they irritate me so much.

    1. Yep. These are ones I kept strictly at home and didn't take out in my purse like I usually do. Glad I'm not the only one that UF covers get to! Thanks for coming by!

  14. LOL! I kinda liked the Mercy Thompson covers, but I agree about her not really having all those tats. I do heartily agree about Slade's book in the Night Huntress World series.

    Thanks for the share!

    1. I think I'd like them if the tats weren't in them. Drive me up a wall that they don't match the real Mercy. Poor Slade and his book!

  15. Thanks so much for the follow again! I've followed back! That Patricia Briggs series sounds very interesting :-).

  16. Totally agree with both these series' covers! I actually like the Mercy covers, its just that they don't match AT ALL with the stories. Mercy would never wear any of those outfits, lol!!! And the Hight Huntress World covers are just so unnatural looking. Thanks for stopping by, I'm following you back!
