Yes! Yes, yes, YES! Finally we find out about the vampire slayers yahoo group! Sucker Bet is the final installment of Erin McCarthy's Vegas Vampires series and I loved it. This is one of those vampire series that's just about having a good time. It's a touch campy, a little silly and absolutely delightful. It's everything you could want from a group of vamps living in Sin City and Sucker Bet was the perfect ending for such a fun series.
I've been dying to find out about the "vampire slayers yahoo group" since book one. If you haven't read the series it's an absolutely brilliant storyline that McCarthy threaded into the series with literally only a sentence or two in each book. There'd be a quick mention about the yahoo group and then it would be completely dropped. And damn if it didn't leave me curious as hell! It was definitely worth the wait to find out all about them. McCarthy had me wondering till the very end who the devil was behind the group and the random attacks/mystery linked to them. It was nicely done and I loved not only how it turned out but that it brought Nate and Gwenna together.
Nate and Gwenna were an excellent couple. They're sweet, fun and damn if things aren't really freaking hot between them. Nate's a no-nonsense police detective that's having a hell of a hard time and needs something good in his life. I really liked how he was with Gwenna. Upfront, open and honest about what he wanted. He was just the kind of man she needed in her life too. Gwenna's had a very sheltered, quiet life surrounded by some uber-controlling men for the last 900 years and she's damn tired of it. She's ready to find a little adventure and fun and take some risks for a change. I LOVED watching Gwenna find her sass and backbone. She's such an innocent and damn if I didn't grin every time she cursed or did something a little naughty. Like, oh, I don't know...scoring a little lovin' in the casino's spa with a hottie cop? Yeah. Whew. It was good.
"How about we get drunk, lose a pile of money, then go up to my place so you can fuck me?"
Gwenna was so proud of herself. She'd said the f word again, and this time in a sexual context. It felt sassy and raunchy, and she was rather fond of it.
Nate clearly was, too. His eyes went dark and he groaned, glancing down at her chest, his finger wandering between her thighs. "Jesus, you're killing me."If you like some humor with your vamps, a little bit of mystery and some scorching hot relationships you really need to check out McCarthy's Vegas Vampires. With vamped out politicians, lawyers and dentists. Mad scientists, mobsters and the occassional assassin it's a damn good time.
I've never heard of the series before but I like fun & light reads. I will have to check this out.
