When Harry Met Molly (Impossible Bachelors #1) by Kieran Kramer

Dashing Lord Harry Traemore is perfectly content to live out his days in the pursuit of pleasure. But when he's named by the Prince Regent as one of society's "Impossible Bachelors," Harry is drafted into a ribald romantic wager. The rules of engagement are scandalously simple: The bachelor whose mistress wins the title of "Most Delectable Companion" gets to remain unmarried. Harry is utterly unconcerned about his status...until his latest lightskirt abandons him.

Enter Lady Molly Fairbanks. Harry's childhood friend—actually, "foe" is more like it—is the most unlikely companion of all. She's attractive but hot-headed, and in no mood for games. Besides, what could the self-indulgent Harry possibly know about what makes a woman delectable? It's time for Molly to teach him a lesson once and for all...but will it lead to "happily ever after"?

Type: Historical Romance, England

There are some books that are made just to make you happy. To make you smile and better your day and that in the end leave you completely charmed and eager for more. When Harry Met Molly was one of those reads that was completely and utterly grin-producing perfect. From cover to characters Kramer stole my heart with whit, cheekiness and a fun, refreshingly unique storyline that's a little silly and completely, infectiously entertaining.

The basic gist is a bit funny indeed. Take a group of notorious bachelors and throw them together for a week, to compete for a years worth of blessed freedom from the marriage mart by the Prince Reagent himself. The loser being forced to marry by the end of the Season, of course. And it all comes down to who has the most delectable... Mistress. Not your everyday regency romance storyline, now is it?! LOL. Go with it people, life really shouldn't be so prim and serious all the time and this one fully embraces putting that naughty little twinkle in your eye.

Harry and Molly were one of the most entertaining couples. These two were oil and water and even after an 8 year separation due to a disastrous childhood "event" that got them sent away from home for years on end they still butt heads and rial each other like you wouldn't believe. Winding up stuck together,  and forced to play the part of Protector and um, false-mistress, enough to make either one twitch.

Molly had to get away from the taproom so she could breathe and decide what to do. But she already knew what to do. Her wicked self was speaking to her, and she refused to let herself stop it. Her wicked self always came out around Harry.
It was telling her that she must go inside and dump a tankard of beer over his head.
And seeing it all change? Loved it. The two were, honestly, so great together. They had that easy banter together regardless of if they were pushing each other's buttons or, shockingly, enjoying each other's company.  And there's a nice little bit of sexy spiciness going on too! If yall were here a couple months ago Kieran and I had a funny little chat after a review about the "heat" level in her books and I gotta say she nailed it with this one. There's a couple pretty delicious scenes between Harry and Molly that definitely heat things up. Whew. I stand corrected Mrs Krane, I stand corrected ;)

I really loved Molly and what she was willing to go through in an attempt to save her reputation as a Lady by hiding her identity and playing the part of Harry's Mistress (it's an interesting turn of events that lands her the role too). She's smart, strong-willed, thinks on her feet and manages to shine even when she's completely out of her element. Acting the Mistress wasn't easy for her and there were a couple times I felt like crying right along with her when certain things happened in the competition. But the girl is tough and really pulled through. She had an infectious personality too. You just can't help but smile and want to be around her. She's sweet and cares about people and does her best to make friends even with the other Mistresses who would rather glare daggers at the competition. Harry was a damn fine hero as well. He's not too alpha, and not too much of a push over. He's sexy and funny and somewhat torn over his feelings for Molly and their circumstances.

The secondary characters were delightfully fantastic. I loved the Bachelors and their terrible ways (save one Bachelor who really needed a good thunking) and loved how they reacted to Molly and her less than conventional Mistress-like behavior. I can't wait to dig into all of their stories. The Mistresses, well I wasn't sure about them at first,  but once you start to get to know these woman, and what makes them tick, they're undeniably wonderful women I wanted to know more about.

Would I recommend When Harry Met Molly? Hell yeah! It's delightful and filled with so many wonderful moments you'll be hard pressed not to fall for the world Kramer creates. With a bit of drama, parts that will have you teary eyed and others that will have you laughing out loud with a smirk on your face it's a blasted entertaining read.

  8. To be honest when I picked up a copy of When Harry Met Molly off the shelf at the bookstore it was the title that caught my eye and when I saw the cover all I could think was "WOW"! I had loved the movie when Harry and Met Sally and at the time I thought "This author is never going to match how much fun the film was to watch and how much it made me laught". How wrong I was! I absolutely loved the book and decided then and there that Kieran was the best debut author I had ever read.

Most debut authors are still dipping their toes in the water but not Kieran - she jumped in feet first and literallyy blew me away. Her books aren't just interesting but they are fantastic with characters you'll never forget!

  17. I think Harry and Molly's situation is very interesting. I have read books that made me feel good. I so wish I could give you titles, but I read so many books that I would have to check through some paper work to find it. I've cried at some situations in books, and in the end it was all ok, and I did feel good about it.

  24. I love when romance authors inject humor into their books.
It always makes for a lighthearted, fun and feel-good read.
With When Harry Met Molly, not only does the premise for the
story sound like a blast but the characters sound like a trip too.
Now I'm also looking forward to meeting the rest of the
    Impossible Bachelors.

    1. Oh my goodness. The rest of the Bachelors are something else. I can't wait to read their stories either! I'm sure they'll be just as entertaining :)

  25. For everyone shaking their heads at the premise, all you have to do is look at the feelings and attitude about the Regent to know the 'wage' behind the Impossible Bachelors could have happened. His excess is what led to the Victoria's ideas/attitude taking hold so well.
Speaking for a person who can get into the most 'interesting' situations without meaning to or even realizing how I manage to, I can feel for Molly (and even Harry somewhat). I'm glad the reviewer mentioned that Molly lands on her feet after a few mis-steps, and makes friends even. Sounds like something I could relate to.

    1. It's such an interesting time period to look back on isn't it? I really felt for Molly myself and how frustrating it would be for women in that day and age. But she really does pull it all out and make the best of it. Just a great heroine!

Happy Reading Vicky and thanks for coming by!
