Guest Post & Spotlight: The Sisters of the Moon Series by Yasmine Galenorn + Giveaway!

Hi everyone! First off I would like to thank Anna for giving me a guest spot on this amazing blog!
She totally goes all out for us blog followers doesn't she?  Now this blogging stuff is all new to me, but I just wanted to share with you guys an amazing author.

Oh! Before I forget (yes yes I am scatterbrained *giggles*) Hi My name is Penni! You've seen me float around the blog for the past couple months. Ok, now that you know who I am, let's get to the good part!

Of course I couldn't just come here and "talk" your ears off..... There is a Giveaway too! Check it out at the end :-D

Ok let's get this started and meet my favorite sisters and their creator Yasmine Galenorn!

Ever wonder if the monsters under your bed are real....?

Meet the D'Artigo Sisters--three half human, half-Fae, wild and sexy members of the OIA--the Otherworld Intelligence Agency.  Camille, a witch, Delilah, a werecat, and Menolly, an acrobat extraordinaire turned vampire, are sent Earthside to keep them out of trouble by their superiors, who consider the girls nothing but a bunch of bumbling half-breeds.  But the girls soon find themselves smack in the middle of Demon-Central when Shadow Wing, the leader of the Subterranean Realms, decides to attempt a coup on both Earth and Otherworld.

From their home in a seedy suburb of Seattle, the sisters must use every ounce of erratic power they have to thwart the havoc about to unfold. Together with Camille's lust-crazed and not-quite-human boyfriends, an FBH (full-blood-human) detective named Chase Johnson who has a penchant for spicy beef tacos and wild women, a gorgeous hunk of dragon flesh named Smoky, Iris the house sprite, and Maggie--their baby calico gargoyle, they must use all of their collective talents to prevent the demons from taking over as the three sisters attempt to save two worlds, one monster at a time.

The next book in the series is Haunted Moon which is written in the PoV of the oldest sister, Camille.

We’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Delilah is a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. My sister Menolly is a vampire married to a werepuma. And me? I’m Camille, a wicked-good witch with three sexy husbands. I’m a priestess of the Moon Mother, and I’m training under the Queen of Darkness. Unfortunately, playing in the dark means that sometimes you stumble over secrets better left buried…

There’s a new Fae sorcerer in town—Bran, the son of Raven Mother and the Black Unicorn--and I’m the unwilling liaison between him and our new Earthside OIA. With cemeteries being ransacked, and spirits being harvested by a sinister, otherworldly force, Aeval sends us to rescue the missing wife of a prominent member of the Fae nobility. Our search leads us to the mysterious Aleksais Psychic Network, and ultimately, to face the Lord of Ghosts. Morio and I must undergo one of the most terrifying rituals we’ve ever experienced. A ritual that will plunge us directly into the world of the dead.

I fell in love with this series from book one! I mean who doesn't love sassy, sexy, kick-ass heroines? Along side these amazing women are their ever faithful, albeit sometimes stubborn & pain in the ass, swoon-worthy lovers! You have Svartans, Dragons, Fox Demons, Shifters and that's just their lovers!

The focus is on the action, the world story arc, and primarily, the sisters and their relationships to one another.  While there is explicit sex, and relationships do play a significant part, those are not the main forces of the stories, and these are not HEA books.

That is not saying the romance scenes aren't completely amazing!

“Some hurts can never be mended" he said. "No matter how much time passes. They tattoo themselves on our souls” - Trillian ~ Etched in Silver

“Lips to lips, mouth to mouth,
Comes the speaker of the shrouds,
Suck in the spirit, speak the words,
Let secrets of the dead be heard.” - Corpse Talker poem

“And before you ask, I don't ask what equipment
my lovers have, merely if they want to play.”
- Carter ~ Shadow Rising

“What was life has crumbled. What was form now falls away. Mortal chains unbind, and the soul is lifted free. May you find your way to the ancestors. May you find your path to the gods. May your bravery and courage be remembered in song and story. May your parents be proud, and may your children carry your birthright. Sleep, and wander no more.” - Prayer to send a family member on to the fade

In the past, I've also written a paranormal mystery series (the Chintz 'n China Series) for Berkley Prime Crime, a short-lived mystery series (the Bath & Body Series) under the name of India Ink, again for Berkley Prime Crime, and eight metaphysical nonfiction books (Llewellyn Publications and Crossing Press).

    7. Ahhh yes I love Jo! I know I don't know how people haven't read her! That was one of my first UF series and she killed me with her cliffhangers. I mean. KILLED me.

I'd read all of the Jo/David ones first. I've only read the first in the spin off but holy crap it was awesome. Loved it! I really need to get my hands on the next one in that series. So good.

      Delete
    8. The fox demon is Morio. Shade is kind of newer in the series.

      Delete
    9. @Anna: OMFG! YEESS! BEST DAMN CLIFFHANGERS EVVVEEERR! Rachel Caine is a genius and a masochist for that one hahaha.

Ooh. Okay, I'm gonna finish up Jo n David (maybe re-read them, though I'm pretty sure I remember everything that went down the last time I read it) AHHH. Okay, I <3 Weather Wardens. They're so damned awesome!

P.S. Jo has style too! haha

@Penni: oooh Morio!! Gah. I am so slow haha. I def need a refresher on these books. *sigh* Have you read her Chintz n China or Indigo Court series? I haven't, but I hear awesome stuff about those as well.

    10. The Indigo Court series is great! I haven't read Chintz n China or the Bath and Body series yet as they are older and harder to get.

I found her by pure accident! I went to get Jeaniene Frost's new book (at the time I think it as First Drop of Crimson) an it was out! I was so sad, but I started looking at books next to hers, because I just had to get a book for the day! Witchling was right there..... I saw the cover and thought it was neat so I read the back and was oh this is cool! Well my friend said he never got mea brthday present so he bought the whole series at the time for me!

      I was in book heaven!

      Delete
    11. Oh right, gah it's so hard to get those older series :( that's why I love thrifting. You find those older books there.

OOH! See, I still haven't reading Jeaniene Frost! I have Once Burned here on my shelf, but someone told me to read her other series first (good set up for the new series) so, I've been itching to get my hands on that series before I jump on into the other.

Lol book heaven! hell yeah! My bro and his ex gf (gf at the time) got me all the books (up to the most recent) for The House of Night series by P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast I was like *le gasp* you know me so well! haha. That was a few years back though lol

OOH. I found out about Yasmine through a website that I LUUUUURVE. I use it to look up series and authors and at the bottom it has a "other viewers viewd this and ...." and a whole list of other authors in the same genre.

      Here's the link: fantasticfiction.com

I absolutely love this site! LOOOVE. lol

    12. OMG I love the House of Night! lol I am currently re-reading those with my oldest daughter. She has to do reading for quizzes in school, so we pick a book or series and read it together. Keeps her reading and gives us something to talk abou together! Neferet's Curse is coming out this month! A novella finally talking about Neferet's bacground.

Reading the Night Huntress books will definitely make Once Burned easier to understand, but it isn't necessary.

      Delete
    13. YAYYY!!! Another HoN fan! ^_^ *happy dancing* that's great that you read with your daughter. The other day my mom told me to throw my "trash" away. she was referring to my books :( sad, sad story lol. OOHH I knoww! I'm not a big fan of Neferet, but she makes an awesome villain. I should def reread those books lol.

Yeah, I think I'll take the easy route and read the Night Huntress books first lol.

  2. Woot! Yay Penni! The post looks awesome :) Thanks so much for joining us and blogging about Yasmine and her ladies. *hanging my head in shame* Still haven't read the series but it's on my tbr list! I'm curious as hell about this Carter ;)

Hmmm my favorite heroine? I think is Eve Dallas from the In Death series. I just adore her and her anti-social self. Gah she's awesome and she gets Roarke! So jealous! My favorite PNR heroine is Vivian from Vampire Vacation by CJ Ellisson I think. Probably because she reminds me a lot of Eve but in cheeky vampire form.

    2. Ooo see I'm really liking that description. SO is he an ongoing boy or just in one?

I need to check again tomorrow to see which one's we've gotten in since I was out of town. Hopefully the first couple have come in :)

      Delete
    3. He is ongoing but not in the mainstream of the story yet. I have a feeling he is going to be a lot more prominent here soon but still haven't figured out how yet.

  16. I'm not sure I have a favorite heroine. I read quite extensively and pretty much fall in love with whatever I am currently reading if it's a good story. I do enjoy Darynda Jone's Graves series, KMM's Fever series, to think of a few that have the heroine as a center of the series.

  17. Mercy Thompson though I do love Kate Daniels, too.

  18. Claire Fraser from the Outlander series.
