3.5 stars-- The Dom Who Loved Me (Masters and Mercinaries #1) by Lexi Blake

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

The Dom Who Loved Me was an entertaining little read that combines so many of my favorites... (light) BDSM, suspense and nice ----though not always easy-- romance as Grace and Sean's worlds collide in a steamy and dangerous way during the hunt for a terrorist.
The Gist: Sean thinks Grace works for a company that's really a front for illegal activity and connected to terrorist activities. But he needs to get close to find proof so he goes a bit under cover and starts things up with Grace--an older woman-- thinking she might be the key to the investigation and he can seduce the truth out of her. But things, as they usually do, get oh so complicated when their attraction can't be denied and it turns out they both have an interest in BDSM. Ahhh yay!
Yeah, so,  I spent a good portion of the book wanting to neuter Sean and his team for hiding who they were from Grace and some of the things they did while undercover but at the same time I absolutely loved them. They're entertaining and funny, stubborn and rather infuriating but inside they're good guys doing what they think is right. Even if they go about it in a gloriously stupid way.

Sean and Grace were a nice pair. She's actually 8 years older than Sean which always proves interesting as feelings about that are dealt with. Sean was pretty tasty and oh he had a passion for cooking which totally does it for me. So flipping hot. Grace was a great heroine. She struggles with her body image but it was never annoying to me and felt so realistic and believable. I loved how that was overcome and that he adored all of her bits and pieces.

Things were definitely steamy between these two and, whew, the sexy scenes were oh-so-damn-yummy. Especially when that spot of Dom in him comes out and he, erm, takes control. Lordy.

The suspense of Sean and his team infiltrating Grace's office to bring down a suspected terrorist was entertaining though you could see some parts coming it was still fun to watch them unfold. There were a couple oh shit! moments that my jaw dropped a little bit too so it balanced out nicely.

All in all, a pretty good read. While I usually like a bit more intense/rich DBSM read The Dom Who Loved Me turned out to be rather fun with it's light BDSM self. A spot of romance, a dash of suspense and, yup, a happy reader for sure. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what goes down with the rest of the team. Like I said. They're complete asses but they're so damn lovable at the same time and I really want to see the woman to bring them all to their knees.*rubs hands together*

Sean Taggart is hunting a deadly terrorist, and his only lead is the lovely Grace Hawthorne. She's the executive assistant for an employment agency Sean suspects is a front for illegal activities. To get the truth, he is going to have to get very close to Grace, a task he is all too eager to undertake when he discovers her deliciously submissive nature.

Soon, Grace Hawthorne is living a double life. By day, she is the widowed mother of two college-aged sons. By night, she submits to Sean's every dark desire. She's living out her wildest fantasies of pleasure—intimate acts of trust she's only read about. As passion engulfs her, a murderer strikes, and Grace learns that Sean has a deeply hidden agenda. Will Sean choose his mission and break her heart or be the Master of her dreams?
