This gave me a good chuckle. The whole foot in mouth thing always cracks me up. These two were having a business meeting of sorts...
“How about you? Do you have kids? Want them?”“Have them? No. Want them?” He grinned at her. “Yeah, of course. I’m Irish. It’s one of our specialties.”“Breeding?” she blurted out.“Ha! Breeding!” he chortled, his face splitting into a surprised grin. He raised his eyebrows at her, and she wished a hole in the floor would open and swallow her up. Whole. “Sure. I guess. I mean, I would’ve gone with something more delicate like ‘big families,’ but—”“I could die.” Brittany reached up to cup her flaming cheeks, shocked by her own rudeness. “I’m— I’m so sorry, Ror— I mean, Mr. Haven… Oh, God…”Still laughing as Victor served their salads before slipping away, Rory caught her eyes over the rim of his wineglass. “Okay. First of all, no more Mr. Haven. It’s Rory. Once two people talk about breeding over lunch, they must remain on a first-name basis for life.”
The Haven triplets well they've been a trip. And I read them completely out of order finishing things up with book one. And, Rory and Brittany were lovely.
The Gist: Brittany's getting married and she wants to have her wedding at the camp where she spent her summers as a teen. The girl has a plan and then, well, things go all to hell and she maybe takes up with the owner of the camp. Maybe.
I really liked both Brittany and Rory. Rory's sweet, sexy, successful. Dedicated to his family. Loyal and steadfast. And Brittany was easy to love, too. She's sweet, earnest, giving. I felt for her and how she was struggling to deal with heartbreak and betrayal.
They were cute together. Had nice chemistry and helped heal each others hurts. Things are a bit slow going on the romance side of things since she was engaged for a spell and then off men. But I enjoyed seeing them become friends and support for one another. And when they finally got together it was real nice.
All in all... a good read. Nice elements of family and work, some humor, some heartache, some steam. Really not much to complain about.
The Havens weren't the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn't keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.
When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. Meanwhile Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.
