[memes] Best Platonic Relationships + my week in books

[Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!]

I wanted to meme. And only had one weekly post to do it. So there's a whole lotta memeage happening in this post. You might have to scroll down a bit to get the one you're looking for. 😸

So a lot of books happened this week. That's about it. lol

I had off from the USO and food pantry and had no other commitments. So I read a lot and did a lot of planning and worked outside. That's about it.

Thanksgiving happened and that was low key, too. I don't usually do much for it but did decide to cook this year and do some yummy things.

I wound up making... Za'atar encrusted grilled Halloumi, stuffed sweet potato, balsamic roasted veggies, mac & cheese and cornbread and a chocolate cream pie. Spent a total of like 8 bucks thanks to couponing. $4 of that was the dang cheese. But it was delicious and oh my word I'm stuffed. Still. The herd had a wet food feast, too. And I pet sat the pup next door which is always fun.

Ooooo and if you've been wanting to try Kindle Unlimited! A heads up. If you buy it before the 30th you can get 3 months for 99cents! Usually it's 9.99 a month!

The Substitute-- Was fun in a goofy over the top way. Heroine broke up with her cheating fiance and is heading home to her wedding she never canceled and the guy sitting on the plane next to her gets mistaken for her fiance and goes along with it. It was fun.

The Player-- I had heroine issues and didn't like the treatment of the hero who was made out to be a bad guy for sleeping with women after they broke up and she refused to talk to him for weeks (years earlier). So he went about having sex with whoever he wanted and OMG HOW COULD HE!! What a player! *eye roll*

Christmas At Starlight-- Was so freaking cute!! The heroine is in town for Christmas with her family but they opt to work the whole time so she goes out exploring and finds a cutie working at the local coffee shop who decides to give her her first real Christmas. Short but adorable.

Rafe-- had SO much potential --hero finds the heroine on the side of the road dressed like a bunny! lol But it felt like a rough draft just hit all the main points but forgetting all the extra details/scenes that make a romance magical. It wasn't awful but not one that has me going OMG I need the next!

Wild Kisses-- was good! But oh my word. There were two sex scene issues that had me yelling at the book because OMG What are you doing?!!! lol But I liked the set up of a new bakery owner and her ex-con contractor trying to resist each other while renovating.

Christmas at Mistletoe Lane is pretty good storywise --hero and heroine co-inherit a falling down inn and are revamping it--but then the author cannot for the life of her get Marines right and sounds like an idiot because of it. At one point a character was like "you've obviously never met a marine before" and I had to resist yelling at the book that obviously the author hadn't fucking met a Marine before either. AHHHH! So yes this one keeps getting put down because it's pissing me off.

The Job on the other hand is fantastic. I love this series from Evanovich/Goldberg. It's such a fun FBI agent/con man duo. They work off the books to take down criminals by setting up cons. They have amazing chemistry and such a fun teasing between the very proper FBI agent heroine and the cheeky bastard of a con man hero. Plus I love Scott Brick's narration. He's got such a yummy voice.

Um. I might have bought all the things. lol
In my defense...they were all free when I bought them.

I won The Perfect Distraction on Goodreads. Coventry is a new to me author.

4.5 stars-- Whiskey River Rescue by Justine Davis
3.5 stars-- Instant Attraction by Jill Shalvis

Top Six: Platonic Relationships In Books (friendships, parent/child, siblings, family, etc.)

Burton's Play-by-Play series. Oh. My. Yes, lots of sexy athletes and hot romances but really my favorite thing about this series is the families. They're...healthy. Positive parent/child relationships, amazing sibling bonds. They aren't perfect but I absolutely adore that their issues aren't based around broken families.

A SWAT team made up of alpha werewolves. I love these guys and how close they are. They're an excellent unit and always there to support each other and give a little tease.

The guys from Bad Habit are pretty amazing, too. Both on the stage and off the stage. I love a good band!

The Rose Gardner series is the best. Rose and Neely Kate are awesome. I love this mystery series (it has light romance in it, too). These two have both been lonely and haven't really had great friendships until each other. And while they don't always like each others choices they always have each others backs. I love that.
And can't forget Shalvis. The friendships and sibling relationships are what makes her books so special. Every 3 books in this series are based on a group of one or the other. They just make me so happy. I would love to have friendships like she has in her books.

Midnight Texas...a ragtag group of misfits. I loved all of the strange and peculiar friendships in this series.

Question: You meet an interesting person of the opposite sex at a club. Suddenly, they start acting as if they're a character in a novel you've read, and they are firmly convinced that they ARE that character. First, which character is it, and second, how do you react?
A: I won't even lie. When I first read this I thought it said you met an interesting person at a sex club. Bwahaha That... might result in a very different question. Though, really. If I met someone who looked like and thought they were My Liege...I'd be okay with this. I mean. If they were that good. I might just keep em, too.
