Officer Off Limits (Line of Duty #3) by Tessa Bailey

His need to possess her is non-negotiable.

Story Brooks’ fiancĂ© just called off their wedding two weeks before the happy day. As if that isn't bad enough, her semi-estranged father, an infamous NYPD hostage negotiator, has suffered a heart attack. Not wanting to examine her lack of emotion over the broken engagement, she hops on a plane to reconnect with her father before it’s too late.

Playboy hostage negotiator Daniel Chase has never, not once, been refused by a woman, so when a debate over hospital snack foods with a delectable kindergarten teacher ends in flat-out rejection, he makes it his mission to seduce her. His only obstacle? She’s the daughter of his mentor who implicitly forbade Daniel from pursuing her.

Despite her father’s warnings and Daniel’s troubled past, Daniel and Story can’t resist their intense attraction to one another. But when the reason for her fiancĂ©’s abrupt wedding cancellation comes to light, can Story and Daniel's already forbidden relationship survive?

I really love a little bit of naughty in my reading and once again Tessa Bailey definitely delivers.

Officer Off Limits was really a fun read. It's a case of forbidden romance and those are always entertaining as all get out for me. And I just loved these two. Daniel and Story (yeah kinda a weird name but I liked that too!) were great together. Their banter is fun and things heat way the heck up whenever they're in the same room. There's not too much to the story outside of their romance but it so worked for me because sometimes you just need a good sexy romp, ya know?

Daniel and Story were both fantastic characters. He's a big bad alpha male hostage negotiator that sports a softer side and is dealing with both past trauma and regrets about his playboy lifestyle. I really liked the portrayal of him and that he wasn't bragging about all the women he'd been with and how many times he'd scored but was actually rather embarrassed and had some insecurities because of it. It was a different look into a hero and I found myself loving him because of it.

And Story was a wonderful heroine for him. She's not had the best luck lately and I liked watching her take a bit of control back. She's sweet and thoughtful and just a fun heroine.
She gave an exaggerated shrug. "You're right. It probably would have been a disappointment, anyway."

He jerked back. "A disappointment? What the hell does that mean?"

Suppressing a smile, Story reached for her suitcase and heaved it onto the bed. "Nothing. Just that in my experience, guys who talk the biggest game are usually a letdown in the end."

Daniel studied her for a moment, then barked out a laugh. "Are you honestly trying to use reverse psychology on a hostage negotiator? You're looking at an expert, sunshine."

Shit. She totally had been. It worked well enough on her five-year-old students. "Nope, just being honest. I am nothing if not a pillar of honesty."

"Right." He didn't budge from the doorway.

As she removed a stack of shirts from her suitcase, she looked up at him through her eyelashes. "Thanks for dropping me off, Daniel. I assume you know how to let yourself out?"

A muscle working in his jaw, he returned her challenging look. "Are you dismissing me?"

She pursed her lips. "That's sure what it sounded like."

"It wouldn't be disappointing."

Ha! Mental booty dance. Who's the expert now, homeboy?
So the naughty. These two. Well they like a little risk and have some control issues which leads to all sorts of yumminess in all sorts of interesting locations. I loved the places they got up to things and yeah it's hot. He's not a full out dirty talker like the hero in book two but he has his moments and I enjoyed the hell out of them.

One of my only complaints was that I wish more focus had been put on Daniel's childhood and the trauma he went through. I would have liked to see that dealt with instead of mentioned and then for the most part let go. A minor complaint though :)

I really loved that there were a couple surprises along the way with this one. I just didn't see them coming and they added a nice bit of drama to the storyline and had me going OooOooo. With added in humor, fabulous chemistry and jaw dropping sexy bits Bailey won me over yet again and has me ready for more.

Have you read Tessa Bailey? What did you think?
