I love when I'm able to just fall into a world and in love with it's characters with ease. Especially when it's a new to me author like Sarah Bella. I really enjoyed Delilah's Passion. It's a fun, sweet read about a girl starting over and going back home after fleeing years earlier. There's humor and awkward moments, one's that'll make you sigh they're so perfect and others... that'll make you want to medicate the ever living hell out of some of the characters. It definitely kept me entertained :)
The story centers around Delilah who's life has pretty much kicked her around lately and sent her home to lick her wounds and figure out what to do next. I really enjoyed so many parts of her story. From her meeting up with her long ago best friend, Caitlyn, and picking up where they left off to the awkward revelations about her ever absent father and all the inner turmoil his new presence in her life caused. But especially Aiden and all that he was.
I really loved these two together, for the most part. There's a nice rhythm between them even though she was really hesitant and had little panicked moments now and again. But you know that's understandable. She's been hurt in the past so she gets a little leeway there, right? There's a whole cooking aspect that brings the two together every day and omg I loved that. She bakes for him, he feeds her. Just something so damn sexy and comforting about that.
So on to Delilah and her trust issues. Yall are gonna get one of my little rants here. Sorry about that. But this girl gave me one of those grrr arg moments where I wanted to pinch the tar out of her and really, this is so the mean girl in me, wanted Aiden to dump her crazy ass and find someone stable. One of my pet peeves with reading is when the heroine loses her damn mind and starts acting all crazy and Delilah managed that in spades. Logic flew out the window over their big "misunderstanding". It really bothered me how little faith she had in Aiden in the end and what she put him through afterwards. Since it's a shorter story it all wrapped up pretty quickly in the end too and I wanted that girl to have to work, and work really flipping hard, at fixing what she broke but it all went too easy on her for me.
Am I glad I read Delilah's Passion? Heck yeah. Despite the crazy broad towards the end it's a fabulous little story about starting over. Parts had me laughing until I got looked at kinda funny and others had me sighing in envy. It easily sparked my interest in Sarah Bella and will have me looking for more of her work in the future.

"Oh, lordy, he's hung, isn't he?" Caitlyn squealed.
"I am so not telling you that," Delilah crossed her arms in front of her chest and turned her head to the side, "But, yeah, he is."
"Gah! You are such a lucky bitch!"
"Why does Aiden being hung make me lucky?"
"Because," Caitlyn snorted as though it were obvious. "You are so getting on that cock."
"Cripes, keep it down! And don't call it a cock!"
"What do you want me to call it? Man meat? Love stick? Steely column of man flesh? Oh, I know! His Big Johnson! Hmmm, how about wiener? Wang? Dong? Woody?"
"No! God, did you stop maturing emotionally in tenth grade?" Delilah laughed. "Call it his dick for Pete's sake."
"How is dick any different than cock?"
"I don't know, it just is," Delilah rationalized.Aiden was hands down my favorite part of Delilah's Passion. I absolutely adored this man. He's one you'd want in real life. Sweet and considerate, loves animals and children. He's a hard worker (owns an ice cream shop!) and has a fun sense of humor to go along with the oh-so-sexy talent of cooking like a dream. Yum. He's one of those hero's you can't help but smile fondly over and that's just a damn good guy. <3 Can ya tell I was head over heels for this guy? LOL.

If Delilah had a playlist: I always, always, always listen to music when I write, so Delilah’s Passion does have a playlist. It goes like this:
- She will be loved, Maroon 5
- She is Love, Parachute
- The Bounty of Mary Jane, Bobby Long
- Who Have you Been Loving, Bobby Long
- Grand Theft Autumn (Acoustic version), Fall Out Boy
- Rise, Eddie Vedder
- Careful, Guster
- Glycerine, Bush
- Revelry, Kings of Leon
- Hey There Delilah, Plain White T’s
- Listen to your Heart (Edmee’s Unplugged Vocal Edit), DHT
- Wonderwall, Oasis
- Make it up to You, JJ Flores
- This Town, O.A.R.
- Vanilla Twilight, Owl City
- Drops of Jupiter, Train
- Angel, Aerosmith
- Girlfriend ft. Lil Mama, Avril Lavigne
- Show Me What I’m Looking For, Carolina Liar
- Still Funky, Chuck Love
- Down on the Corner, Credence Clearwater Revival
My taste is a little eclectic… I keep all my playlists on shuffle and I add to them whenever I find something that fits the book or I need something fresh. There were probably half a dozen other songs on there at some point, but alas, I tired of them and pulled them. ;)

Cooking plays a bit part in Delilah's Passion.

Oooo yeah crockpots are good! One of the Tasty Tuesdays for December is a Mac & Cheese in the crockpot. Was delicious!

ReplyDeleteLOL. It is one of those names!
DeleteCaitlyn and Delilah sound like a hoot. I love strong female friends protrayed in books the way they really are.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite recipes all seem to be baking related. I am not an adventurous cook, but show me a baked good recipe and I am ready to try it out. I recently found a recipe involving peppermint patties and brownies that I can't wait to make. Yum!
LOL they so were. I was busting up over that scene (they're out in public for it too! Poor Delilah!). Those friendships are always so fun to read.
DeleteBaking is good! We do a lot of that here with our Tasty Tuesday posts. Actually made York Peppermint Patty brownies not too long ago and they were fabulous! Hope you enjoy them too!
Definitely there's something sexy about a man who can cook...he can take care of himself and you! I like experimenting with my crockpot!
