The quick of it is that Kate's father is wack-a-doodle. He's kidnapping people, he's taunting Kate, he's just...well, he's lacking on the good guy points and an Oracle's vision of him killing Curran or their future child... has knocked off a few more points. Things are coming to a head and it's pretty much now or never for saving everything that's important to Kate-- her friends, her family, her city. Oh, and having to plan a wedding at the same time. Yeah. It's gonna be messy.
Gah, yall. I love this series. It's one I read way before the blog kicked off and when I was just starting to get into reading as an adult. And it's amazing. The action, the characters, the magic and world building. Kate and Curran. I swear. They both just give me happy shivers. lol She's so damn badass--and a little scary this time with her powers--and he's got that yummy growly thing happening. They're a great couple and I loved seeing them finally tying the knot and even if dealing with all the crazy working things out. This one has just the tiniest bit of on page heat.
"You found another misfit with no place to go and were ready to protect her with everything you had."The action was non-stop. Holy crap. There's some gore and some big scares and some pretty surprising moments and man it was great. Her pop is a serious piece of work and between that and Kate struggling with her powers and such...whew! I'll admit I'm behind in the series. It's really best read in order but I jumped back in after missing 3 books and did okay. Things have really changed in their world and I don't remember quite so many types of paras but it wasn't too hard to figure out the big things they'd gone through the last little while.
"I didn't..."
"Yeah, you did. You're like a crazy cat lady, but you collect killers instead of fluffy cats."
Okay so my only thing was that I wanted a little more from the end. It was good. But I just needed more from the showdown to bump this up to a solid 4.5. It was close, though. Oh. And more Curran. I could always go for more Curran and while he was there he was off page more than I woulda liked. *flails* lol
All in all, Magic Binds was a damn fine addition to the series. The Ilona Andrews duo keeps upping the ante and knocking out rock solid reads. Exciting, nerve wracking, and a little swoonage thrown into the mix...this is a must read series for anyone who loves urban fantasy.

Okay and I have to add in one more quote to do with the wedding planning. It was pretty funny. Poor Kate. She was like I just want to show up and get married. Simple. And then she was forced to deal with invites and fittings and samples. Ha! But seriously. Sit down and eat the cake!!!!
"Mary very kindly agreed to bring over samples so you could select a wedding cake."
"I did." Mary nodded.
"Mary turns into a grizzly. A very large grizzly."
"I know who Mary is," I told him. "I met her before, at Andrea's wedding."
"If you don't pick a wedding cake, Mary will sit on you and stuff all this cake into your mouth until you make a selection."
"Mary and what army?"
Mary smiled at me. "I won't need an army."
"Can he select the cake?" I pointed at Curran. "This wedding involves two of us."
"He already did," Mary said. "These are the choices he narrowed down."
I turned to Curran. "You narrowed it down to sixteen choices?"
"They were all very delicious," he said.
