His Reluctant Rancher (Three River Ranch #2) by Roxanne Snopek

The last place city girl Desiree Burke expected to find herself was living at and working on a ranch, much less butting heads with the ranch’s sexy cowboy owner, Zach Gamble. But that’s exactly where she ends up after an incident at work leads her to her best friend Rory’s doorstep. Desiree is a gifted physical therapist, and Rory knows exactly where her brand of tough love is needed the most.

Zach’s been through hell and back. A devastating car crash left his brother gone, his father paralyzed, and him with mental scars a mile wide. His survivor guilt alone makes him sure he doesn’t deserve to find love. But as Des works her way into his ranch, his family, and his life, suddenly the last person who belonged there is the only one he believes belongs…with him.

Read in order? Not a must but recommended

Whew, yeah, His Reluctant Rancher was a way more emotional read than I was expecting and it was a wonderful experience.

With the help of mutual friends, physical therapist Desiree lands on Zach's doorstep determined to help his family recover from a tragedy that has struck them hard and not only left his father paralyzed but an entire family in an emotional upheaval, unable to move on and in desperate need of a new lease on life.

These characters. Gah. I loved them and my heart absolutely broke for all of them--well maybe not Zach's sister because damn she's a real bitch--but the rest of them, lordy, they've been put through hell and are nearing their breaking point and it's not easy to watch their struggles. But damn I wanted to cheer them on as they slowly came back from the brink.

Desiree is such a determined woman and gives everything she does her all. Especially helping his father take back his life. I really loved how she threw herself into everything and helping Zach's family. She's an amazing woman you can't help but respect. And Zach. He's a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders and he made me want to just swoop in and hold him tight. He's sexy and frustrating and just a damn good man under all of his pain. Finding romance is really the last thing on either of their mind's but there's a spark and fire between them and whoboy are they good at butting heads and going at it. While things don't get too hot and heavy with them--okay they don't get hot and heavy at all--there's some nice tension and a heartwarming romance as they finally pull things together.

His Reluctant Rancher was a quick read but it grabbed my heart completely. From the sweet moments and touches of humor to the emotional journey the entire group undertakes it's just a lovely read.
